Hi! I created this insane, strong control Priest deck at April 1 and it is still working great!
This Highlander deck is in my opninion significantly better and less boring then Galakrond Priest. Also, I did not faced one single opponent playing Highlander Priest in 625+ matches, which means the deck is kinda unique in the current meta.
Average game: 11 minutes
Winrate 62% by 650 games recorded.
I managed to reached Legend on 12 April, 11 May and 19 June.
DECK GUIDE
1. Mulligan and playstyle explained per hero
Priest (56-13) 81%
Our second most easiest match up, but also our longest match up. This games ended in 90% of the cases due fatigue damage. Galakrond Priest is the only archetype I faced and our highlander deck has slightly more value. The following playstyle will help you:
Mulligan: first logic rule, keep Galakrond or Kronx. You want your upgraded hero power as soon as possible. Tap each turn and play the random minions you get during the game. Save your best minions for specific / emergency situations. Second rule, but not less important: keep your best cards, no matter the mana cost. This is because Priest run two copies of Thoughtsteal. Keep Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, Zephrys the Great, Madame Lazul and Alexstrasza. Second keeps: Thoughtsteal, Plague of Death,Skeletal Dragon and Siamat.
Wincondition:
Fatigue damage and Alexstrasza. I directly play Alexstrasza when fatigue started. Don't waste him earlier in game, because opponent Priest will recover fast. Your (extra) win condition is Reliquary of Souls, because it provides you an extra card in your deck. It is absolutly important that your opponent may not steal yours. Mostly I kill this minion on my own in combination with Penance, Shivarra or Kronx. Never play this on board without a plan. They steal it for 5 mana (shadow madness + penance).
When your opponent get Reliquary out of the random Priest pool (invoke), try to steal of copy it. This can win you the game. I even 'waste' my Soul Mirror on this minion.
Other tips:
- If you don’t draw Galakrond, use Madame Lazul to steal his (since the opponent will search for this card in mulligan). I'm suprised how often I can steal Galakrond at turn 3.
- Never waste Zephrys the Great and Alextrasza before fatigue game is starting, mostly I have them in hand the entire game.
- Kronx is not necessarily needed to play too fast, because you draw an extra card, something you don't want. It is save to wait 15 turns for your Galakrond.
- Do not play Cleric of Scales while having a dragon. Also, never play Mass Dispel.

General (except Priest)
Other then playing against priest, the mulligan guide is quite easy and mostly the same.
I always keep and search for all cards of 3 mana and less, except Holy Ripple and Apotheosis.
So find Disciple of Galakrond, Psychic Conjurer, Breath of the Infinite, Shadow Madness, Thoughtsteal, Madame Lazul, Penance, Vulpera Scoundrel and Reliquary of Souls. And of course Dragonmaw sentinal [/card]. It seemed that this guy is the card that has the highest winrate together with Breath of Infinte when I can get him on turn 1. Furthermore definately keep [card]holy nova (third best mulligan card to keep) (this is not true when facing Mage, Priest and Warlock).
Warrior (25-4) (86%)
The easiest match up for Priest, all, bomb warrior, pirate and engage warrior. As Priest you will be able to stay at 25-30 the entire game. Therefore it is very hard for engage Warrior to kill you with a buffed damaged minion. Clear his board turn by turn and dominate the late game. Pirate Warrior will run out of resources very fast and you have more value then bomb warrior.
Paladin (17-5) (77%)
In my first two versions of the deck I managed to get 1-4 ??? haha. Latest versions 16-1. Libram ánd Murloc Paly are both easy games. Just follow the general mulligan guide and you will be fine. Every Highlander card has so many value and does something good. Murloc Paly will run really fast out of cards. Libram Pally takes a bit longer, but the diffence in value between Paladin and Priest is huge at this moment.
Shaman (12-7) (63%)
Priest Highlander has invinite resources, Shaman Highlander have not. You simply will outvalue him during the game. The losses I recorded, are made in April, against evolve Shaman, which I hardly see anymore.
Druid (31-19) (62%)
I have to say, today the day this is an equal match since the Druid deckversion got stronger (10-11). Priest will be able to clear a full board like 5-8 times. Counter Glowfly Swarm with Holy Nova and Breath of the Infinite (It will help if you can create a small early board with minions, so you not necessarily need one of them. Zephrys the Great + Twisting Nether saves you from big dragons or in case Exotic Mountseller created a strong board. Kronx has the ability to clear a boar as 4 option and furthermore you can count on Soul Mirror and Plague of Death. Renew and Vulpera Scoundrel can give you another big spell. In 50% of the games Druid will die to fatigue damage fastly, since there carddraw ability is huge. The other 50% you did not draw the right board clear at the right moment and you will lose. Try to steal his Overgrowth with Lazul.
Demon Hunter (104-77) (58%)
The games are always the same and quit boring, but I still like these faster games for the variation. Play on curve and use your mana well, which means; use your hero power on face almost every turn. This also means you do not play Galakrond to early. Only as a last option when you need the 5 armor or you need to clear a big treath. Don't waste your Penance on his early 1 drops at turn 2 when you are at 30 health or when you have a holy nova or breath on turn 3 or 4. Use your resources wisely.
Mage (29-23) (56%)
Equal / kinda hard match up against Mage Highlander, since the latest version had the worst score for priest 9-13). You will lose if you cannot survive the midgame. At turn 5/6 they can create a big board due Dragoncaster combined with 3/6 elementals or due Power of Creation. The 6-drop minions mostly have 1 more health in addition to their attack, so Soul Mirror [/card]is not a great counter. Save Shadow Madness for [card]Astromancer Solarian.
Hunter (36-28) (56%)
Slightly in favor. Aggro Hunter is very easy, highlander hunter is hard (50%). Save Shadow Madness for Zixor. apex predator. Our Scavenging Shivarra is absolutly nuts against there Spell Damage protected Dragons. Play your early game stuff, followed up by your taunt minions in midgame Convincing Infiltrator, Shield of Galakrond, Khartut Defender and Skeletal Dragon and you will be fine in 50% of the cases.
Warlock (28-22) (56%)
Quest Warlock you will win. Save some of your healing and one big removal in case your opponent plays a naked Alexstrasza. When your on the 15 health spot, I mostly play a combo like Shadow of Death to kill the dragon (2 mana),Renew face (1 mana), Sandhoof Waterbearer heal face (5 mana) and hero power. You back in the save spot immediatly. Most losses caused by aggro warlock.
Rogue (53-48) (52%)
Nice games, winner will be defined in the first 5 rounds in my opinion. If you can stay relatively at high health (25) on turn 5 you will beat him. A problem rises when Rogue managed to get several copies of Kronx in the deck. Thoughtsteal is a very good mulligan card against rogue, because it provides you some early, cheap game. Rogue will spam every single turn minions with like 10 attack and 10 health. This highlander version has enough resources to constiently deal with it, as I said, when you survived the first rounds quite smooth. Otherwise he can find lethal in a certain time.
2. Tracked stats
3. Own cards / combo's explained?
Will come if there is interest in
Very old, wouldn't count on this working currently.
Thanks for your opinion, but stats dont lie :)
If I found out how to put an image in the deck write up, I can show the new stats and high legend proof.
nice deck
Thank you! :)
Hey! Been thinking about crafting this deck but i don't have Siamat, Alextrasza and Reliquary of souls. I can craft about 1 or 2 of them so which ones are most important and do you know any possible replacements for them?
He man!
At the start of May I changed two cards myself: Madame Lazul instead of Fate Weaver and Scavenging Shivarra instead of Mass Dispel. It works great, I reached Legend again in just a few days. If possible, you should add these changes too, because the meta slightly changed. Mass dispel I used most for Druid, which I hardly face anymore. Fate Weaver was the worst card of the deck in my opinion.
Hard question! If possible, keep all 3. But if impossible, I would change Reliquary of souls, for a cheap guy, like Imprisoned Homunculus, Envoy of Lazul or Mo'arg Artificer. Maybe Doomsayer
I would say, Reliquary is a keep in this meta, dominated by aggressive decks. It can save up to 3-7 face damage in early game and she provides you another card in your deck, which is important for winning control match ups against other Priests (which mostly ends in fatigue damage). If you dont have him, at least steal one, with Shadow Madness.
Alextrasza is definately worth crafting. You can use it in many deck types. This Dragon will win games for you. Siamat is also a really good keep, cause it is a fast tempo game swing. Enemy has board presence, after playing him, it is you that have board presence. Also, windfury and rush combined with Apotheosis is very strong.
If you replace one of these cards, replace it for Murozond the Infinite
Thanks man! Much appreciated!
Welcome!
