May Season Update:
Despite the Bad Luck Albatross and Altruis the Outcast nerfs, the deck, with some changes, was still decent enough to take me reasonably comfortably to Legend within a day. The win-rate has dropped a bit and is now hovering in the low 70s.
Games consisted of mostly quest Mage (still strong, but thankfully a bit slower), a nasty discard Warlock deck and pirate and armor Warrior antics.
April Season:
Despite the quick nerfs to Demon Hunter, I had good results with this Baku version, scoring close to 80% on Legend rank.
Mulligan is pretty straightforward, with many 1-drops to get the momentum going. Glacial Shard works well freezing your opponent or his minions in mirror matches. Consider keeping Bad Luck Albatross in your hand against Warlock, Priest and Mage in case of Reno. A final clever tech is the addition of Cobalt Spellkin. Currently DH only has two 1-mana cost cards; Mana Burn and Consume Magic, the latter of which makes quick work of taunt minions (or cycles).
Good luck grinding to a 1000 wins!
Update 14/04: After the umpteenth Mage broke my 10 game win streak, I wanted to post the latest results.
A good number of games later the win rate has not changed much. Statistically, odd-Paladin has proven most difficult, but the vast majority of "experiences" involve Mage. I've ran the same list and feel quite happy about it. The only cards up for debate are the pirates, as drawing Patches the Pirate before the others feels frustrating.
Sorry to hear. Played a couple of quick games today, scoring 13-5 (73%). Quest mage can be tricky as they mess up your board. Are you fighting for control or just going face? Use your hero power (and health) as a resource to keep your minions safe. Also, try keeping Albatross in your opening hand as I see you're struggling with Mage, Warlock and Priest (Reno).
Yes, I'm playing as you described.
Maybe, mages were pretty strong with roll and I often have 5+ minions in hand at first turns.
No problems with Reno ones (for warlocks - cube).
I will do more games to get more improved statistics.
I have the same experience unfortunately
Sorry to hear for both of you. I'd put it down on me just having a lucky run, if not for many others that seem to have good results with this deck. I'd give it another chance.
Yes. I feel the same way. See my posts above.
I’m also D5!!
Let me give your an update to my posts.
So, I tried this deck more and reached the legend from D5 in 60 games.
General stat is 36-24 (60% WR).
DH: 5-6. Depends to the atchetype and RNG of strong cards in late (5, 7 drops)
Druid: 1-0. Don't remember, seems like a random druid from ladder
Hunter: 4-1. Positive matchup in general
Mage: 13-9. Finally overcame mages. First day was awful, a lot of loses, but next mages were easier. But rng (albatros is good)
Paladin: 1-1. Depends to goldfish from paladin
Priest: 2-2. Not easiest one, but...
Rogue: 1-0. Rogue in Wild? LOL
Shaman: 2-0. Hey, buddy! I think, you've got the wrong meta. Meta of shamans was 2 months ago
Warlock: 6-4. Silence is important for cubelocks and push the DH-lock till he would be dead
Warrior: 1-1. Lost to the odd control one (played to the fatigue), won the Galakrond one
Welcome aboard!
Well im barely making 50% with this deck at D5
I could be wrong, but with the MMR changes I don't think rank matters as much anymore? What decks are you facing mostly?
There are two separate methods for matchmaking. MMR is basically only used when you have a star bonus (or if you're in legend). Otherwise you're matched based on your rank like before.
Quote from Blizzard:
Q: How does matchmaking work for each season?
A: There are two matchmaking pools: matchmaking by rating (aka. MMR) and by rank.
When your star bonus multiplier is bigger than 1, or you are in Legend rank, you are (generally) in the first matchmaking pool; when your star bonus drops to 1, you are in the second pool.
I take it back, just hit legendary at an insane pace! just under 3 hours
Yep. Same here. I’m 41%. I was doing better with Renolock.
I dusted Patches the Pirate long time ago, it can be replaced?
It thins the deck and builds the board a bit when drawn through Southsea Deckhand, offering advantageous trades. I'm sure the 3 pirates can be replaced with a combination of Fire Fly and/or the 1-mana DH demons.
will try, thanks
From 5 diamond to legend in two hours or something like that, as you told replaced Patches on 2xShadowhoof Slayer and 1xWrathscale Naga. Big thanks, it was fun.
Congratulations!
im going to try replacing the pirates too.
Is patches necessary here? any replacement?
Hi, see above.
