Hey everyone!
UPDATE: Just want to say thanks to everyone who's checked out the deck, gotten to legend or whatever rank they wanted to and gave feedback! I'm currently updating the guide to incorporate some of the comments/techs to make everyone's climbs easier!
Big shout out to @Bob_The_Builder for the pre-rotation decklist. Wanted to show off the few changes I added when we lost Zilliax, SN1P-SN4P, and Lord Godfrey.

My legend run from Diamond 5 - 0 stars to Legend was 18-2 with mostly DH and Rogues. As a note, this was played as soon as rotation hit, so it was definitely as easier climb that you will experience now. My two losses were against: OTK DH and a misplay against Galakrond Rogue by staying at 8 with 4 fatigue damage coming and getting eviscerated on an empty board.
The newest additions of the deck are as follows:
2x Unstable Felbolt AMAZING AMAZING early removal. You can play it on an empty board to get rid of anything aggro. Best thing for single targets such as Primordial Explorer and Phase Stalker before they can come online. Also as a note, it helps soften your board up to Dark Skies if you have too many minions, it helps take away 5 damage total. [3 + 3 - 1 card from dark skies]
1x Keli'dan the Breaker Definitely no Lord Godfrey, but it'll do. Single target removal all the time, and circumstantial complete board clear. The body sucks, but it does it's job really well! And with all of the draw mechanics, you're bound to draw it just in time if you need the full clear!
I originally sought out this deck after losing to it playing Embiggen druid. I saw the potential of plague and the invokers. That's what took me to this decklist. I couldn't believe how efficient dark skies was either.
Matchups:
Aggro [DH, Dragon Hunter]: Keep Unstable Felbolt, Dark Skies, Sacrificial Pact or any early removal. Remember, Sacrificial Pact deals with Frenzied Felwing in Hunter and many targets in Demon Hunter. Definitely worth the keep.
Combo [DH OTK]: Keep cards that heal and Dark Skies of course. You need to take care of the early threats. Luckily they're really small. Typically Novice Engineers and Crimson Sigil Runner. You must stay above 20 health or have a taunt up to even stand a chance if they assemble their cards by turn 7. My one loss against this deck, I was at 19 and they comboed to 20 health. Needless to say, I had a sac pact I could've used, but I didn't see it coming!
Control/Midrange [Galakrond Rogue/Warrior/Priest, Quest Priest, Embiggen Druid]: Keep Plague of Flames and Invoke cards. You will want to dig through your deck as fast as possible to get Zephyrs the Great and Dragonqueen Alexstrasza online. The best path to victory is having a fully upgraded Galakrond, Azeroth's End to heal up/stabilize, and then drop Alexstrasza either offensively, or defensively, and wrap up the game.
Overall, the strategy is simple:
- Kill early threats with Unstable Felbolt and Dark Skies.
- Finish off larger threats with Mortal Coil.
- Deal with large boards with [Invoke Card] + Plague of Flames and Keli'dan the Breaker
- Mess up your opponents deck with Bad Luck Albatross
- Draw lots of cards with Veiled Worshipper
- Keep your health in check with Sacrificial Pact, Nether Breath, and Alexstrasza
- Swing for the fences with Galakrond, the Wretched, Dragonqueen Alexstrasza, and Zephrys the Great
Check out this game play video from @Kadakk
and from @drinjix22
Techs:
- Bad Luck Albatross
+ Mo'arg Artificer
If you're having trouble removing large boards, this is an amazing tech. You can remove one or both of the Albatrosses.
-[ card]Veiled Worshipper[/card]
+ Maiev Shadowsong
I've not actually tested this but @Dayvo had this suggestion as a tech against big druid since draw is typically sufficient.
Possible Budget Subs:
- Keli'dan the Breaker
+ Shadowflame
You always have a board, so this could actually be even more efficient tbh.
- Zephrys the Great/Dragonqueen Alexstrasza
+ 2x Twilight Drake
If you don't have the budget to play the highlander cards, you can take advantage of the hand size by using drake. This also helps keep the balance of dragon cards for cards that require you to hold one!
- Veiled Worshipper
+ Twisted Knowledge
Definitely not a *great* replacement but it does help with hand size. There's probably something better, but this is what I've experimented with.
- Dark Skies
+ Fiendish Rites
This may not help you clear board normally, but will give you more fuel for a large Plague of Flames. Definitely recommend crafting [card]Dark Skies[card] though.
Currently Testing:
Waste Warden Could be great against token Kael'thas Druid to clear all the treants.
Thanks for reading! Feel free to ask any questions.
hmm i notice i keep running out of cards way before my opponent, and somehow unable to finish him off :(
Don't be afraid to skip turns. It may seem silly, but this deck is reactive for the most part, so save your bombs for when they're out of gas or when you find an opening. Hope that helps.
yeah i've just gotten the hang of it, 8 win streak right now! woohoo!
Maybe, never drew the nuts against DH. :D
Maybe, never drew the nuts against DH. :D
This deck still has no chance against a perfect drawing DH, that says it all. Playing around diamond 2 and have below 50% win rate vs DH. If they draw the nuts youcanÄt do anything, so frustrating.
Ah and f* off to all Big Druids, even more braindead than any aggro deck.
I think i have lost to very little DHs during my climb to legend with this deck. If you draw nuts he also can't do anything.
Druid is a hard matchup, but far beyond unfair.
First of all, thank you for that fun and nice deck.
I rly like it and it feels so op especially vs Aggro Decks/Decks that require a lot of removal. The problem is that i rly struggle vs enemies that put basically nothing on board and therefore require no removal e.g. OTK Hunter with the Boa/King Krush but the biggest problem is especially Galakrond Priest, which has so much removal that he can easily kill anything I play, meanwhile i draw much more cards than him --> much earlier fatique (in additon Galakrond Priest abilite so much more value lategame). So he plays nothing, just removes my stuff with ease, meanwhile i have 9 cards in hand, of which 5 cards are removal and i cant rly pressure him
Currently facing maximum 15-20% aggro decks, which i always win! But rly struggling against other ones, especially the ones mentioned above. Therefore appreciate any tips if you have some :D. (its also clear to me that any deck has pos/neg aspects!)
Thanks again, and keep up the good work!
Gala Priest is a hard matchup for this deck in general. You have to be aggressiv because priest wins the end game. Push for a board every turn and bait his removal with as little commitment as possible. If you keep doing that eventually he will run out of removal, keep the big swings (Galakrond, Alex) for turns were you either have more swings ready the next turn or speculate on him having no more removal left.
Generally, both you and the Priest can suffer bad draws for this matchup.
First of all thank you for this deck!
When i started for the first time with this deck i was lossing almost every second game my winrate was like 40-45% and i was stuck in diamond 10 hard, but after two days of playing i got better and i didnt even losse from rank 5 to rank 1 a single game lol. then i was lost two games in rank 1 and then won 3 and got to legend so thank you very much for this deck bro!
Geez I don't get it! I can't win at diamond 4... It seems that all the players that got legend are playing on EU server.. I'm playing against all mexicains here it's impossible to win. Rez priest, lame spell druid. If you people say it's easy to kill them you're either super lucky or they're bad. I never have dark skies in my hand, only 1 crazed netherwing most of the time, no plague of flames and them, it's always hilarious because it's always the same play. Draw 3 cards (and 99% of the time they don't discard anything) . Now from turn 5 to 9999 all they do is summon treants. IF you're super lucky you'll be able to kill them. This game is so random
Hey thank you very much for the deck! It's been two days and I am stuck at Diamond 1 with one/two victory away from Legend. I guess that's just luck. I win against a DK and I lose immediately after to another one or to a Priest! Also there are some variations on DH that are proving more problematic than the others especially without early removal. Anyway it's an awesome deck and I hope I will be able to hit legend at some point!
EDIT: Hit Legend by destroying two rogues! God I love this deck!
Hit legend for the first time yesterday with this deck. 75% (24:8) Winrate (ofc super lucky with 44% matchups against DH which i destroyed). Had to make an account and thank you. Cheers mate!
Nice one, GZ! You had luck witch matchups though ;). No Rez Priest, no Spell Mage, few Druids. Good job anyway!
I think so too, but HSR says otherwise, so maybe there is some kind of strategy to deal with this particular matchup?
I struggle against Rez Priest, any advice? HSR states, that Galakrond Warlock has positive ratio against Rez Priest, but how is it even possible? GW is pretty slow, heavily dependent on draw key cards (all invokes, Queen Alex, Zeph, Galakrond, Kronx) and has very limited pool of offensive cards. And Priest has so many answers, pretty much to everything I play. He can also produce crazy amounts of value (10x Khartut Defender in one match is pretty common) and on top of that, he can shuffle army of birds into my deck, making Zeph useless and Queen Alex much weaker. Sometimes I'm able to win (when I was lucky with draws and he wasn't) but it's like 2 out of 8 games or so... What am I supposed to do in this matchup, besides being lucky? I feel like Priest is much more favored, not Warlock.
Just a bad matchup overall. Only class this deck loses to hard.
Did the DH deck lists just evolve overnight. I was destroying them left and right, and now they are blowing me out of the water consistently. The hit again and again weapon is laying waste to my little demon dudes. Anyone else noticing this? Man, I hate them DHs.
HSR is not showing that yet, but new DH has recently emerged. It's faceroll deck, packed with cheap, aggro cards and almost no demons. He's like Pirate Warrior 2.0 and it's not uncommon, that on turn 5 you have around 10-12 HP, and he has like 8-10 dmg on board. In this matchup you have to have Dark Skies on turn 3, otherwise you are busted (and sometimes you are even despite that).
What is mulligan vs Warlock?
