CHECK OUT MY NEW POST NERF HIGHLANDER DECK HERE: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1343784-post-nerf-65-wr-highlander-demon-hunter
This new version is much stronger post-nerf and I think it is also a good bit more fun to play. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I have! Thank you for the overwhelming support on this 1st version. You guys made it one of the top 10 most popular decks in the history of Hearthpwn!
This is a Demon Hunter Highlander list which utilizes some interesting cards, and has an 85% WR (25-5) over the first 30 games played with it. Below is a full guide to the deck explaining how to play it, match-ups, and mulligan options. I am also a streamer and legend level player, check out my stream if you enjoy watching hearthstone players :) (https://www.twitch.tv/supersenter).
Deck Overview:
This deck really has no bad match-ups. See the stats below:
Demon Hunter: 7-4 (60% WR)
Every Other Class: 18-1 (93% WR)
This is meant to be played as an aggressive tempo deck, so that means going face most of the time, but also getting board clears when needed. The deck is a little challenging to play, but for the most part the cards in Demon hunter are just so powerful that they win you the game. I have a few interesting options in this deck, which I will explain at the bottom. The next section will be the mulligan/match-up guide.
Mulligan Guide:
In almost every match-up you are looking for early game threats to get out to a fast start.
Always Keep: Battlefiend, Furious Felfin, Netherwalker, Sightless Watcher, Umberwing, Rustworn Initiate, Aldrachi Warblades, Satyr Overseer
Sometimes Keep: Crimson Sigil Runner (If left-most card), Ur’zul Horror (If no other 1 or 2 drops), Zephrys (Against Druid & Priest), Eye Beam (If left-most card), Skull of Guldan (If left-most card)
Demon Hunter: This is your worst match-up, simply because Demon Hunter is so strong. Your main goal here is figure out what type of Demon Hunter deck they are playing, and counter it as fast as possible. You want to play early game threats to gain board control, or have early game spells to clear their board. Lifesteal is crucial against Demon Hunter because of how much damage they put forth. You will win or lose these games based on who plays Imprisoned Antaen & Priestess of Fury better.
Warrior: I think this match-up will be tough because of the armor gain that warrior has. Demon Hunter kills most classes very quickly through board swarming, weapons, and obviously chip damage. Warrior is one of the only classes that has many board clears and “healing” (armor). Your goal in this match-up should be to create early game pressure, but don’t overextend. Then you will finish them off with your deathrattle minions or your big demons.
Priest: See Warrior guide. Other notes: Keep silence for their new 1 mana legendary, or for their lifesteal handbuff card. Disguised Wanderer is very dangerous to play because they could steal it and get the deathrattle.
Druid: Embiggen Druid is a very tough match-up due to the taunts and the stats. Somehow I seem to barely win my games against them, but it’s always very close. You always want silence and Zephyrs to counter their early big minions. Other than that, your best chance is winning fast, and having a big Kayn play to get past their taunts.
Other: I have yet to lose a game against any other class, so it’s hard to say what not to do. The main strategy is to get board control early, and then win with your big demons.
Card Choices:
Most cards in this deck are very obvious, they’re just super strong Demon Hunter or Highlander cards, so I won't explain those.I’ve created this highlander deck to be a little more aggro than normal, so that is the reason behind some of my choices.
Twin Slice: I’ve seen lists that don’t run this, but I feel that it is combos with so many cards and can create outrageous early game plays. One of the stronger cards in the deck honestly.
Consume Magic: Great card draw about 50% of the time, and is super strong in some of your weaker match-ups. It’s your best card against Priest and Druid, and can silence Priestess of Fury.
Netherwalker: Gives you a 2nd Priestess or Antaen most of the time!
Rustsworn Initiate: This card is HEAVILY underrated… It is a 2 mana 3/3 across 2 bodies, has spell damage +1, and the second half is a demon.
Altruis the Outcast: So much stronger than I expected, one of the best cards in the deck. It’s on average a 3 mana 3/2 that deals 2 damage to all enemies and must be cleared ASAP.
Disguised Wanderer: One of my favorite cards of the set. Every streamer I saw gave this 1 star, but I think it will show up in many decks, aggro, deathrattle, and tempo decks. It’s almost like a 3/3 permanent stealth because no one wants to clear it. When they do clear, they’re either using 2 cards to clear 1 guy, or using a clear card and 2 mana on a hero power. Finally, if the 9/1 ever lives then it’s basically instant win. This card has felt very strong overall.
Faceless Corrupter: Obviously a super strong card. It’s usually a 5 mana 8/5 and clears a minion.
damn... it does not work for me. any suggestions about game style? I'm going with tempo DH - winrate bunch better...
You need to be patient and play cards at the right time. It's not the kind of deck where you just play stuff because you can. You need to make sure you get value from it.
yup, not p2w at all
Literally most other decks in HS's history
"getting more cards makes you win versus cheaper builds"
wow you are a genius
this isnt good deck i carft 3 legendary cards and for now all lose thx for it
You should apologize to every tree you come across for wasting the oxygen that it produces.
how is this after the nerfs, please?
I have almost all the cards for it, very tempted.
EDIT: gonna watch your vods of the deck. I have not played this class yet so don't know much about it.
Im loosing everything with it -.- isn't better to add siamat?
What do you suggest to substitute Maiev Shadowsong?
I'm not sure the application of the card yet, so have no idea. it looks like it could be quite versatile though. almost like a double silence. if in dormant state, can you bypass a taunt that way too?
The 3 mana freeze an enemy guy
what is this
good game, but did you realise you uploaded the same match twice?
i tested this deck from diamond 5, went straight to diamond 5...
this deck as nowhere near 83% winrate. atleast for me
thou its great against DH
That's because of the nerfs... This deck was built pre-nerf and this identical deck list had a 70+% WR across everyone who played it. I personally did go 25-5 with it, but with the nerfs yesterday, I'm not sure how it will perform.
clearly you havent played it in diamond 5..
Just did 10-0 without a hitch with this deck. Masterfully crafted and not for a reasonable enough amount of dust (if you play regularly, I guess).
I'm surprised blizz has already announced changes to this class. Nevertheless, this deck seems like its going to be a meta staple for a while and I couldn't be happier about it!
I made a video showcasing the deck in all its glory, I hope you all enjoy,
