J.O.E Shaman (Jade Overload Elemental)

I have been testing this deck for several days and it feels close to optimised. I am climbing quite fast through the wild ladder and surprises allot of opponents with some interesting alternative win conditions revolving around Bog Slosher & Zola. The challenge of this deck is knowing in the midgame when to use the battlecry& card generation or when to dump cards and draw for better late-game options.

Gameplan #1 (vs aggro)

This is generally a 50/50 depending on your draws. Look to complete the quests as fast as possible and stabilise. Mulligan for any 1-2 drop battlecry (other than Fire Plume), Kragg & Zilliax are both useful to help stabilise, consider using Fire Plume to generate an early Kalimos for healing/board clear. If you can complete the quest and still have 15+ health it is generally an easy win. Use Bog/Zola to generate more 1-2 drop battlecry minions or bounce Kragg/Zilliax. Use Grumble/ Maximus for value/control.

Gameplan #2 (vs Combo/OTK)

With the right draws this can be a very satisfying win using Cold Light Oracle. Battlecry → Coldlight → Coldlight can often force your opponent to burn 8 cards or can OTK an opponent which has drawn through their deck. Use Bog/Zola/Grumble to bounce Coldlight as a draw engine. You can also use the same gameplan as vs control if your combo is faster.

Gameplan #3 (vs Control)

This utilises the main combo of the deck and only struggles if they can survive your board spam and have over 64 health. Flood the board as normal and try to keep opponent on the defensive, they will think you are aggro/midrange but your win condition is an OTK. The combo can be done in a single turn or spread out over several turns. The number of ways to perform the combo is huge but it basically relies on the following setup Battlecry → Fire Plume performed multiple times and bounced by Bog/Zola, since Bog is discounted to 1 by this combo it is very easy to bounce. After this combo, use the direct damage from Battlecry into Maximus (10) and Kalimos (12) then bounce them with Grumble to double your damage output. I have never needed to do more than 40 damage (quest priest) in a single turn (this only requires setup, grumble and 2 damage cards which have been discounted). However, as a theoretical exercise, this deck can do infinite damage. (Create multiple Grumble using Battlecry&Zola and bounce the damage card(s) and Fireplume while holding a Fireplume in hand)

Gameplan #4 (vs Midrange)

This can be quite a hard matchup. If they use Deathrattles/minion buffs/Resurrect, Devolve/Hex can be essential. In some matchups, the best counter to their midrange is to use your own midrange option. In this case, using Bog/Zola/Grumble to bounce jade spirit can be a good way to contest their board.

Card Discussion

Cumulo Maximus vs Blazecaller – due to the minion bounce effects in the deck the elemental synergy feels much easier to trigger (8 cheap elementals vs 7 overload cards of which 4 are minions), however, overload can be triggered on the same turn and Maximus is 2 mana cheaper. When playing Maximus it can be helpful to hold at least one overload trigger in hand. I have considered using more overload cards however there are currently no other good cards which synergise with at least 2/3 of Overload, Elemental & Battlecry. I have found both to be good and am currently undecided, using both could be an option.

Shudderwock was removed from this deck because generally, it’s effect could have read “fill your hand with random stuff, overdraw 2 cards, spawn 2 low-cost minions”. It interfered too much with the inclusion of Cold Light Oracle which added much better value to the hand for a lower cost and helped against certain combo decks.

Legendary card replacements

Zola – In this deck, this is generally a worse Bog Slosher due to the lack of elemental synergy but can be used to generate more copies which is better than the stats boost. Could be cut for a tech card. (Mind Control Tech is a good option)

Kragg/Zilliax – Good options for board control and healing but not essential, can be swapped for Lifedrinker or other tech cards.

Grumble/Kalimos – Grumble makes any win condition better or generates lots of value, Kalimos does everything, heal, face damage or board clear and both can be heavily discounted via the elemental synergy. Can be swapped out for additional Maximus/Blazecaller.
