Edit, 1/22: -2 Embiggen, -1 Flobbidinous Floop, -1 Splintergraft | +1 Witchwood Grizzly, +1 Alexstrasza, +2 Wild Growth
General Strategy:
The early game is pretty simple, you want to focus on ramp, cycle and stall. Once you hit turn 4 you can start setting up your wall by casting things like Predatory Instincts, Strength in Numbers and curve out your minions from there. Most decks can't keep up with the raw stats you can put on the board every turn with help from Strength in Numbers and Witching Hour along with the fact that 4 of your minions are untargetable - Winged Guardian and Evasive Drakonid.
*tip* The best spells to combo with Archmage Vargoth are Ferocious Howl against aggressive decks or Witching Hour if Winged Guardian has died.
Mulligan:
Always Keep - Innervate, Strength in Numbers, Breath of Dreams, Wrath, Ferocious Howl, Wild Growth, Predatory Instincts, Swipe
Sometimes Keep - Zilliax (against every class but Priest), Big Ol' Whelp (if you have Breath of Dreams), Emerald Explorer (if you have Breath of Dreams)

After more play testing I came to very similar conclusions as you! I updated the decklist to be more refined :)
However, I do like Big Ol' Whelp for a couple reasons. As you mentioned, he isn't as terrible to keep in your mulligan with Breath of Dreams, you can coin Big Ol' Whelp on 4 into Zilliax or Witchwood Grizzly (or visa versa) to complete your sidequest, or a Big Ol' Whelp on 5 into Emerald Explorer on 6. And lastly, and probably the least impactful reason (yet somewhat relevant) is late game the extra draw can lead to another Dream Portal after you play Ysera, the Unleashed.
You have a point, I will test more matches with it.
This deck is definitely good, I would say at least tier 2. Nice job :)
This has to be one of the best and most fun decks I have ever played! 9 games and won every single one of them. (Rank 10 - 7) The only change I made was adding Sathrovarr instead of Splintergraft and it is reeeally good if you don't get to kill your opponent before turn 10 hahahah
I'm really glad I found this deck, thanks for sharing it. :) Also, I've been binge-watching your YouTube videos, you are really entertaining! :D Keep it up!
Wowwww! Impressive, great to hear it! Btw, I updated the decklist to include other minions instead of Splintergraft, but Sathrovarr is a solid choice as well!
You're welcome for the deck, I'm glad you like it :). And thank you so much for the kind words I really appreciate it!!
nvm
This deck is so fun to play honestly. I don't even mind losing with it. Don't play it tho if you are into serious competitive because it does not fit in the meta unfortunately
I've actually seen a lot of pros and top legend players using it so we'll see if it sticks around or not :). I did some play testing myself with other cards and updated the list with better options to make it more competitive!
Fun deck to play, sadly i lost every game, both control and aggro. I had a good time though. Early game survivability is lacking a bit, and silence effects seem pretty common when you do plonk a big taunt down. At least in the 5 games i played.
Will keep playing the deck for a bit though!
Glad you're having fun with it at least! That is the whole point of this game, after all :). Out of all the games I played, I didn't come across any silences so either I was getting lucky or you're getting unlucky lol.
Feel free to link a replay of any of your games, or ask about specific matchups and we can try to help!
I replaced Splintergraft with Sathrovarr. Works pretty well. Nice deck!
Yeah Sathrovarr would be much better.
Great replacement! And thanks :) glad you're liking it!
Def trying this. Very cool idea. Thanks
You're welcome! Hope it works well for you and have fun with it!
