Hi everyone, this is the first deck I post, so please be nice :).
Bascially it's just a Malygos OTK Rogue, so nothing new really, but I have tried to make it work with the new epic card Shadow Sculptor instead of Gadgetzan Auctioneer or Candle Breath (in the version with two copies of Twilight Drake).
The idea is that Shadow Sculptor seems to be quite flexible compared to both Auctioneer and Candle Breath.
Indeed, Auctioneer forces us to spend spells and sometimes we are forced to throw away preps, while candle breath is often a huge tempo loss.
Shadow Scultpor on the other hand allows to huge card draw if we play a bunch of lackeys together with the coins given by Umbral Skulker.
Since the deck has already quite heavy card draw and since what we really want is to draw Malygos at 0 using either Wondrous Wand or Galakrond, I only put one copy of Shadow Sculptor.
The deck obviously suffers of the same issues as the other versions, and I only put it here to know what you guys think and discuss about it with fellow lovers of Malygos OTK's.
Please feel free to leave any feedback!
Dunno, if there really is a place for OTK decks in this garbage meta. I must have played over 1000 games as Malygos Rogue and it is the most fun out of any deck out there, but I am not sure that it really works atm.
I can feel you man, I played so many games and I am slighlty below 50%.
When you hit the occasional priest or quest druid you can take it easy, but in general this meta is too much tempo for otk decks.
I've always wondered it it would be worth it to put Togwaggle's Scheme in this deck to shuffle Malygos back when you draw him too early, or Shadowstep him back for 7 cost next turn... You lose a turn, but that's better than just losing when you draw Malygos too early.
You don't lose if you draw him early.
The strength of the deck is that even at 9 cost, the coins allow you to burst for anything between 16-34 damage from hand (you basically have 12 mana and preps)
The weakness of the deck, as all Maly rogue decks, is dying before drawing Maly, neither SS or shuffle helps in that regard. In fact, they make it worse since each time you draw them you don't draw Maly, removal, or draw, which are the only things you care for.
As for the actual decklist, the card I don't like in it is Shiv. I think a Thalnos there would be better. Gives the same draw, can help with early removal like Seal or Backstab, can help vs token druid with FoK, and can be an early target to enable Praise.
The second change would be removing a Maniac for a second Sculptor. My thinking here is that Maniac is a terrible card that you use only because you have to, but a second draw engine might allow you to draw your better Invokes more consistently rather than having to play a 4 mana 2/2. IF (and only if) Invoke seems consistent without playing the Maniac, maybe even removing the second as well for a Zilliax.
Thanks both for the replies!
Indeed Shroudb everything you said about scheme and shadowstep is exactly what I wanted to say, maybe in the description I did not make clear that, yes Malygos costing 0 is the best case scenario, but you can win without that with preps or the coins from umbral skulker (besides sometimes you also draw evish or strike with galakrond or wand and that helps as well). The deck is quite flexible and fun because of all these possible combinations!
About Thalnos you are absolutely right, I didn't put him in just because I don't have him (I am basically a F2P player), but it would make the deck way better as we lack early game. [OT: should I craft Thalnos? :D I like him a lot but I think at the moment this would be the only deck I would put him in and I am still missing other legendaries from the classic set like Alexstrasza]. Maybe I could put a loot hoarder in place of shiv. I mean the loss of spell damage is huge but is still card draw, is still better than shiv on turn 2 and it is as good as a target for Praise.
I was also thinking about Zilliax and I think I will swap it with one Maniac as you suggest. I mean it is simply too good against aggro and I am facing a lot in ladder these days.
On the other hand I am a bit skeptical about having no maniac at all for consistency of invokes (besides as bad as it is it's still reactive on board and sometimes you can hit him with evolve lackey for board presence), although I like the idea of another sculptor. I think I will try it anyway.
I could also put another sculptor instead of one sap and keep a Maniac, I don't know let me know what you guys think.
