I figured if Pirate Warrior can make Highlander work then there is probably enough cards to make Highlander Zoo Warlock work too...I was right. This deck flat out memes people

If you are like me and have been playing since the earliest days of Hearthstone then a lot of this should look familiar. Mainly because it is based around one of my favorite decks ever, the OG Zoo made by Reynad. I wanted to bring his deck back into the frontlines and although Reynad’s original version still works very well(even in standard). I feel like it is so old that opponents know exactly what is coming before it even happens. That’s where the Highlander part comes in.

Making Reynad’s deck into a Highlander deck allowed me to fit in a few newer annoyances such as Fungalmancer, Grim Rally, Zephrys, Mecharoo, Kobold Liberian, and Kazakus while also being able to fit in older annoyances that were in other variations of the older model such as Piloted Shredder, Raid Leader, and Haunted Creeper.

This really isn’t much to say as far as a mulligan guide goes for this deck. You mulligan for a 1 cost minion and then do your best to snowball the threat, then wrap things up with Charge Minions, Power Overwhelming, Soulfire, Zephrys, etc.

Also Leper Gnome, Mecharoo, Possessed Villager, Shield-bearer, and Haunted Creeper should be the targets for Grim Rally and are good  targets for Power Overwhelming if you end up having to use it early instead of saving it for a end game burst. Alternatively you can Fungelmancer 2 minions then use Grim Rally on Fungalmancer to give two minions +3/+3 in one turn. Same concept applies on Defender of Argus too for +2/+2

Now on to Kazakus...there should almost NEVER be a situation worth making a 10 cost spell. Stick to 1 cost or 5 cost spells and the ideal ones to get would be resurrecting minions, buffing minions, card draw, or summoning a minion. AOE is the worst case scenario choice, but it is there just in case you need to reset the board and you have already used Zephrys or haven’t drawn him yet.

How do you decide on whether to craft a 1 cost spell or a 5 cost? It depends on two things, your mana and your board presence. If you have nothing on the board, you have Kazakus in your hand, and it’s turn 4 then make a 5 cost spell to play on curve and get the board back. If you have a decent board and it’s past turn 4 then I would HIGHLY recommend making a 1 cost spell so that you can play him and his spell in one turn and keep your threat snowballing.

Other than that, remember that after turn 4 to always tap before playing anything so you have all your options available.
