What Is This Deck? (and Win-rate)
I haven't seen much Marsh Queen Hunter (really, I've seen none at all) so I wanted to put this deck in the mix. It definitely struggles with certain wild match-ups, but I find this deck really fun and I dislike mirror matches, so that's a plus. I have a 58% win-rate in the last 12 games (7w) played within the past 3 days. Otherwise, in about 20 games, that win-rate remains steady at 58% within the last month. Not a ton of games played, but again, I wanted this deck to get out there.
General Strategy
This deck has some surprising amount of utility. Toxmonger pairs really well withElven Archer and Springpaw. Can clear boards efficiently, especially because opponents often underestimate Hunter clears.
I'm currently experimenting with Clear the Way, but Diving Gryphon is great as it draws Springpaw to help complete the quest.
Lethal usually occurs by just burning your opponent out with value minions that generate other cards. When you finally summon Queen Carnassa, Carnassa's Brood pair with Tundra Rhino for a hefty amount of damage. You often draw into other raptors and can have, in one turn, 17 burst damage, or with the Prince Keleseth buff, 23 damage.
Card Choices & Substitutions
- Dr. Boom is just solid with this deck. Really tops off the mid-range.
- Zilliax can be substituted; however, I put him in because I was facing a lot of Secret Mages and other aggro decks.
- Prince Keleseth is a staple but I'm sure there could be variants that work around it. But I've found him to be pretty key.
- The 3 mana slot could be rearranged with other cards. I've played around with Untamed Beastmaster, a second Acolyte of Pain, and Stonehill Defender. Since the Taunt pool has gotten larger I've found that Stonehill Defender isn't as good, which is why I've been using Primordial Explorer. I like this substitution but again, other 3-drops could be inserted instead.
Mulligans
- I would keep cards like Fire Fly and Shimmerfly, but the other ones are better to draw later on when you can combine them with Toxmonger.
- Always good to try for Prince Keleseth.
- Against control match-ups, keep cards like Primordial Explorer and Stitched Tracker to try and get value cards like Tol'vir Warden. Absolutely save Toxmonger until you can get value trades with poison minions.
- Against aggro, keeping any 1-drop is good. Cards like Diving Gryphon are also great because they can supply you with a steady number of Rush minions to help clear the board.
Feedback is always welcome! If you have found that certain substitutions are giving you a solid win-rate, post them as I'd love to see variations of this deck.
Thank you so much for this deck. Just went from rank 13 to 10 in about an hour. This deck is so much fun!
Hey, I'm ecstatic that you like it! Glad you had fun with it ;)
