Could this be the push rogue needs to be successful with Cannon barrage? The new 1 drop pirate makes it much more realistic to swarm the board and it makes howler playable as well. There are actually some difficult choices and it doesn't feel like any of the pirates are "forced" just because they are a pirate, so it feels like the list is finally coming together.
This deck has quite a low curve, allowing for lots of swarm and huge bursts with cannon barrage to finish off the opponent. The minions are fairly aggressively statted, so its a bit weak to board clear, so try and play around it a bit if you can.
Updates:
-1 Hoard Pillager, -2 Waggle Pick, -1 Sharkfin Fan
+1 Deadly Poison, +2 Hooked Scimitar, +1 Dragonmaw Poacher
Did you think about making this with galakrond/heistbaron to maybe draw a 0 mana cannon barrage?
To play galakrond, you have to take out at least 6 cards, if not 7 or 8. And all of the rogue invoke cards are pretty slow. The point of this deck is to be fast. If you want to play galakrond just to have a zero mana barrage, this is not the deck. If you really want a chance of a zero mana barrage, heistbaron togwaggle would be a much better fit. You could reasonably argue for having miscreants and Evil cable rats since lackeys offer significant tempo. If you want the lackey package, you could probably cut poison, leeroy, sharkfin fan, and both southsea captains. You also might want to put waggle picks instead of hooked scimitars. However, if you make those changes, this becomes much more of a tempo rogue than an aggro pirate rogue, and you will have to save cards in hand if you want cannon barrage to be good. By the time you can play togwaggles treasure and a 0 mana cannon barrage, you could have already won with the deck the way it is now. And if you don’t get a 0 mana cannon barrage, it’s kind of a waste of time.
TLDR;
you are suggesting a tempo rogue deck, which would complete change the way the deck functions.
Ahhh. Gotcha. Completely different deck. Thanks. And probably not enough space either way. And thanks for the ideas.
Thanks for the deck. It looks really good and will make lots of ppl cry.
I have only 1 suggestion to this deck, which is adding a second Dragonmaw Poacher instead of Deadly Poison
I know, 1 mana, good combo and stuff but ppl will go all the way with the dragons. We will see dragons in every deck and 8/8 rush for 4 mana is insane, that's why i believe you should add the second one.
You’re welcome :) It’s probably a good idea the first week or 2 of the expansion, but as greedy decks start to fade away from lots of tempo and aggro decks, we’ll see less dragons in the meta. I definitely think 2 could be good for a greedy meta though, but it’s pretty bad to have 2 in an aggro or tempo meta
This decks needs more weapons.
It’s certainly something I’d consider. What would you change? Cutting anything at this point feels bad until I test it. I think Dragonmaw poacher could become a weapon once people don’t put dragons in every deck. I guess you could run a weapon over deadly poison, but I don’t think it would make much of a difference. Leeroy could potentially get cut if cannon barrage is enough burst damage consistently, but I don’t know yet. Sharkfin fan is a possible cut, but it’s a cheap way to cheat out more tokens for cannon barrage, southsea captain, or bloodsail howler. If you can prove to me why a weapon is better than anything in the deck, before even testing it, I’ll switch it, but I don’t think you can accurately judge whether this deck needs more weapons yet, since this is primarily a pirate zoo deck, not a pure face deck.
I would play the Scimitar over the Pick everyday in an aggro deck. That means there's no use for pillager. Great deck btw. Imagine build a board of brigand and useless tokens and deal 21 damages outta nowhere. NAIS.
Hmm. I think I agree. a free waggle pick attached to a 4/2 felt tempting, but wasn't sure if it was too greedy. Replaced them. Do you think deadly poison is a good replacement for pillager? And thanks for your input :)
