Hey everyone! I'm Funki Monki and all I do is create meta-breaking (hopefully) homebrew decks! I've had a ton of fun playing a new deck, Totem Shaman! Although I've only played a few games with it so far (rank 4) I have yet to lose. This new creation utilizes a couple new cards brought back from Wild into Standard, Thing from Below and Evolve. Thing from Below is absolutely insane with Mutate and Evolve if discounted really cheap, just like Mogu Fleshshaper so I wanted to make a deck around that synergy. However, there aren't many great totems in standard but we do have Amalgams so we can use Nightmare Amalgam and Hench-Clan Hag in addition to EVIL Totem and a Flametongue Totem. I hope you all enjoy this deck as much as I have so far :).
Full write-up below. I spent a fair amount of time on this guide to help you learn it, so if this guide is helpful don't forget to upvote to help others see it as well!
GENERAL STRATEGY:
This is an aggressive-style deck so tempo and board control is everything. Because of this, we are usually looking for value trades throughout the game. Our finishers include Bloodlust and The Storm Bringer so obviously we can't use them if we don't have any minions on board. Also, the more minions we have on board the better our Evolve gets and more options for a Mutate. The early game usually consists of our lackey package with EVIL Totem, EVIL Cable Rat, Sludge Slurper and Weaponized Wasp to generate tempo. The earlier you can get these down the better because the lackeys give you more options to play in future turns. Through the mid game we want to setup for our big swing turns such as Mogu Fleshshaper into Mutate, a wide board (hopefully with Desert Hare) into Evolve, or Bloodlust so be careful not to overextend against classes that have board clears like Warrior or Priest. Usually 4-5 minions against those classes is enough pressure. The end game... there is no end game. You've either won or lost by now ;)
MULLIGAN:
Always: Sludge Slurper, EVIL Cable Rat, EVIL Totem, Evolve, Mogu Fleshshaper
Sometimes: Mutate (if you have Desert Hare, Thing from Below or Mogu Fleshshaper), Thing from Below (if you can summon 2 totems by turn 4), Nightmare Amalgam (if you have a turn 2 minion), Splitting Axe (if you have a 2 mana minion, and Nightmare Amalgam), Desert Hare (if you have Evolve or Mutate)
REPLACEMENTS:
The Storm Bringer -> Bloodlust
I hope you like this deck and, as always, if you have any questions or have a suggestion please comment below (I respond to all comments)!

I've literally had this deck posted for months now LMAO. Nice to see I'm not the only one running it.

I mean 16/30 cards differ from your list to mine, so its far from being similar. But ya, its cool that you like the Totem synergy as well
disregard
i think ziliax would work better than former champ because you can magnetize it on amalgams (giving them rush) and splitting axe copying rush minions. but that might be too slow so im not sure.
You're right, that would be a cool combo! But if you're not doing that combo, I think Zilliax by itself would be just too slow. The nice thing about Former Champ is he works well with Mutate, Evolve, summons 2 minions for 1 card which is good with Bloodlust and The Storm Bringer and provides great stats for its cost.
How are you guys winning so many games with this deck? I feel if you don't have them dead by turn 6, just concede because there's no way to come back if they wipe your board.
Just like any aggressive deck, you don't want to dump your entire hand before a turn where your opponent might have removal (i.e. Starfall, Mass Hysteria, Brawl). Thats the tough part about aggro sometimes, is finding the right balance between applying too much pressure and not applying enough. It takes practice though, and the mulligan is especially important since we rely on the first 1-4 turns of the game. Also, it helps to make favorable trades to get ahead on board, but no so much that you play into a specific removal (ex. I might trade off 3/1 instead of a 2/2 to play around a Swipe)
that's true, just lost a game to Warrior, because he used twice brawl after i used twice evolve... after that it's a lost game, because you dont have a chance to generate cards and you are f***** :-) but its funny deck to play
Hi,
i am missing 800 dust for Nightmare amalgam (only one i am missing) can you please help me here with raplacement?
thanks a lot!
Try with one more bloodlust
okay, but i still miss one card :-)
Hmm, Nightmare Amalgam has so many synergies in this deck for obvious reasons but i'd say perhaps a 2nd Former Champ could work
i know, i fu*** up, i should create first amalgam and than Hag... :/
I have 75% winrate from 30 games, thx for the deck ;)
Daaaaaang! keeep it up! and you're welcome, thank you as well for checking it out :)
The meta as it stands now requires this deck type to win fast as possible cuz with no real removal, it relies on board control and big finishing plays. With N'zoth decks everywhere, u cant play the long game at all. Hope fully that helps anybody wondering how too beat N'zoth decks.
You could try dropping a Former Champ for a Plague of Murlocs, which is great for countering big sticky minions.
This was for Aoipuru's question regarding Reborn minions etc...
don't copy please..i was playing this deck yesterday and won 5-6 games in a row..I spread the trend
Wow, nice job!! I'm glad its catching on! This was one of the first decks I played for Doom in the Tomb a week ago, and was surprised how good it is. It's a very underrated deck, and super fun to play :).
well done. I have the luxury of crafting 3 diff versions of Totem Shamn the first few weeks of Uldum Xpansion release. It was very similar in some ways to yours. I did one with just the draw totem and the lackey and the totem weapon of course, then I made a full token.totem version like this, and I messed around with a hybrid deck too..
I havent revisited any of them since the Nzoth carss came out. Maybe with Evolve back in the meta, I will dust them off. Whats your HS Handle so I can friend you for some friendly deck building and matches.?
thx for sharing your deck !!
No problem! And thank YOU for checking this deck out :). I'm glad we had similar ideas for the Totem Shaman, great minds think alike!
