Hey guys, sorry for not posting detailed matchup guide. But I have small excuse – the meta have shifted with wild cards revival and that specific hunter list got irrelevant. To be honest I stopped playing Highlander hunter (even though it's Tier 2 still).
But I have surprise for you :) The cool Rogue deck, which I got success with – https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1312335-rip-shaman-na-73-to-legend
Why Spellbreaker instead some of the other typical Highlander Hunter cards that are missing? is it because Combo Priest?
And did anyone tried Misdirection instead Freezing Trap? in my experience freezing is the easiest secret to play around for the rival, allowing even to replay some battlecries again.
Oh yeah, I was thinking about Misdirection, but didn't play. Though I do agree, that is interesting replacement for Freezing Trap.
Regarding Spellbreaker, you are right – Combo Priest is one of reasons, but also other matchups have situations when silence effect is really needed like Mech Paladin/Hunter.
Any suggestions to replace Siamat and Subject 9? I currently replaced them with Savannah Highmane and Houndmaster accordingly.
I don't think you can really replace Subject 9 in Highlander Hunter. It has beast synergy, decent body, draws many cards and makes sure when it comes the Zul'jin time, it will cast a bunch of secrets to save you ass in case you are against the wall.
Amani War Bear will be a decent enough replacement to Siamat, since most times you will use it with rush, but it's no near as versatile.
You basically can't play this deck without Subject 9 – it's one of the key cards. As for Siamat, I would recommend to try Houndmaster Shaw.
What characterize a highlander deck?! Never got that, explain please!
*EDIT*
Ok just found out that it's from the famous quote in the movie Highlander wich goes "There can only be one", 1 of each card. Originally made up in MTG.
Hey all. Apparently I lost an access to edit this post and deck :) So I’m going to create new one with promised detailed guide and will link it in comments section. That’s unfortunate, but ok :)
It is always great to see nice and detail guide even for a common popular deck. The key is not the deck itself, but how to pilot it. Thanks and hope to see more match guide.
What yout ideas with hyena? I played this version and didnt got it very well.
its a good combo with springpaw but thats it, am i missing something?
I do agree. The card is situational, BUT it forces opponent to play sub-optimally by making inefficient removals. So card has double purpose – 1st one to synergy with a deck (also Desert Spear, for example), and 2nd one to distract opponent. You can force to waste some expensive removals. Imagine you want to expand the board against control warrior, but are afraid of the AoE. So the approach could be to play Hyena turn before you wanna go wild and force opponent to waster AoE. But yeah, I do agree, this card is replaceable – I also tried Crazed Alchemist and Acidic Swamp Ooze, but Hyena proved to be better.
Do you think its really better than Sunriver Spy or Masked Contender?
This list is very different than the others but its really good!
I had problems with Sunriver Spy and Masked Contender in fast matchups. There it's more important to control the board – and both cards are highly dependent on synergy. So I'd rather to play something which gives me unconditional board advantage rather than to wait for synergy to come.
Though I do consider Sunriver Spy as replacement for Scavenging Hyena in slow meta.
And when I posted this deck I was playing in high legend – and it is mostly Priest and Shaman environment. I had to favor immediate removals over value, otherwise u just loose :) It's that simple.
I play a similar deck with Hyena and works like a charm. Played by itself works pretty much like a taunt and a removal magnet like you said, and has synergy with springpaw, desert spear and snake trap. It can be buffed by Houndmaster, in case you use it, and while it isn't as powerful as when played with MidRange (with Timber Wolf and Rhino), you may find it in most Highlander Hunter decks.
So what? Same list ever dude...anyone can go to HS replay or any bad site out there and will see the same list.
I don't pretend to be unique here. It's just I've found that particular build to be very consistent on the ladder – and specific card choices reflect the meta. For example, Marked Shot there is meant to be helpful against Priest in the 1st place. And besides that the whole idea of the post is to figure out if audience is interested in some detailed guide. And it seems that 11 upvotes express the demand of that guide, which I will post soon.
Anyway thank u for an opinion – I appreciate that. I also was sceptic about posting it to the hearthpwn, but I can't why I shouldn't :)
Haters gonna hate. Confirming that a certain deck works still in top legend + nice mulligan spreadsheet is still valuable.
So thanks for sharing.

Heh) nice video. Unfortunately you started with unfavored matchup and rare one. Thank you trying it out :)
