Hello everyone! I recently got top 50 legend with Reno Mage on stream twitch.tv/kaiser_hs
Top 50 Proof: https://imgur.com/tO4EWOv
We went 6-0 with this exact list during the stream session. But I feel like I might try to include Sandbinder because it has synergy with Mountain Giant and Zephyrs the Great as targets including potentially Siamat too (or even Mana Cylcone as well if you say add an Elemental Evocation and Banana Buffoon). Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron seems to be a fan favorite by all but it is a little sketchy at times and might even get cut by me since it is not as core for my list as opposed to one in that plays something like King Phaoris.
Speaking of my stream I essentially do free coaching on it so feel free to stop by for just deck codes or to further learn the ins and outs a bit more :)
What to keep in general:
Premium: Zephrys the Great, Luna's Pocket Galaxy, Doomsayer, Vulpera Scoundrel
Good/Fringe:Magic Trick, Arcane Intellect, Reno the Relicologist, Messenger Raven.
Against Aggro (Combo Priest, Zoo Warlock, & Rogue): Ray of Frost, Frost Bolt, Zilliax.
Always prioritize Luna's Pocket Galaxy against these non-aggro decks Hunter can be considered an aggro class in this case and is mostly Secret Highlander [ remember to watch out for coin Dinotamer Brann -> King Krush.]
Zephrys the Great: Only gets classic and basic cards and will never give bounces. It also seems to be bugged a little bit when it comes to offering Shadow Madness but I recently versed the developer Iksar and he said that might be fixed soon. Remember the card works with public knowledge only (# of cards in hand, # of cards in deck, fatigue counter, # of secrets in play, & # of minions on board + their stats + their keywords). It will not however recognized battlecries that give keywords for instance Siamat giving Wind-furry will not be considered for lethal outs so beware.
Against Mage and Hunter it can give Flare if secrets are up.
Against taunts The Black Knight happens fairly often.
If you have a board Savage Roar or Soul of the Forest is common too.
If you high roll in on 2 it will show Brightwing, Animal Companion, and Wild Growth. In that case take WILD GROWTH almost always for Pocket and in general it's best b/c board is still open so Companion is not necessary or as consistently strong.
Mulligans by matchup:
Vs. Warrior = Look for Luna's Pocket Galaxy. I tend to hold out on casting draw cards like Arcane Intellect before turn 5 because it is much stronger post Pocket but if you draw a novice or something else feel free to that first. Novice was added recently because like Raza prieist of the past you want to get to your highlander cards or the Pocket fast. Don't keep novice in mulligan as it is better to just essentially draw a card by throwing it away first. Post Luna's Pocket Galaxy of course it is even amazing too b/c it can draw 1 cost minions. Make sure not to get ran over by Eternium Rover into SN1P-SN4P into Zilliax (if so a Polymorph, Doomsayer, or freezes you happen to draw later can handle this source of chip damage, in the mean time, making their overall pressure essentially zero).
Vs. Mage = Both players will have freezes and secrets. Zephyrs is good against everything so feel free to keep it and mulligan for that Luna's Pocket Galaxy
Vs. Hunter = Expect secrets and highlander. Flare of Zephyrs is always great with multiple secrets up. There swing turns are Dinotamer Brann summon King Crush and Zul'jin be careful for Secretkeeper and the Sunreaver Spy early. Also don't forget to too also play Zephyrs. Aggressive Mech Hunter is always a possibility too so keep an eye out for that as well.
Vs. Warlock = It's almost always zoo so refer to above but include aggro mulligan bonus options. Beware of Quest Warlock though that means they are playing Mecha'thun so don't just sit there and pass against that it runs Lackeys and a bunch of healing as a tip off. One of the few matches where Pocket doesn't always shine and maybe shouldn't be kept.
Vs. Priest = Expect Divine Spirit combo decks. Be prepared to have them snowball a Northshire Cleric or Lightwarden with buffs like Power Word: Shield and Injured Blade Master and injured cards early. Polymorph, Doomsayer, tempo and the like can be critical otherwise expect to be facing an unbreakable board outside of freezes. If you clear both clerics aside from Acolyte of Pain or reviving cleric with Psychopomp you can lock them out of combo resources. One of the few matches where Pocket doesn't always shine and maybe shouldn't be kept.
Vs. Paladin = Expect either Tip the Scales murlocs which try to high roll a 4 mana Prismatic Lens, Making Mummies Quest, or even Holy Wrath Shirvallah, the Tiger OTK (highlander versions of this exist too). Against quest maybe keep a Polymorph or Doomsayer besides looking for some tempo and Luna's Pocket Galaxy. Ping is great against reborn cards :)
Vs. Shaman = Expect quest and look for pocket but be warned aggro shaman players with Doomhammer and frog as well as murloc players do exist. Frost bolt would answer the Underbelly Angler in that case.
Vs Rogue = Expect aggro with potentially 4 weapons otherwise it is just Quest Rogue with burgles which includes Vendetta and Tess Greymane.
Card Replacements
All of the cards are safe crafts though I personally am not loving Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron as much as everyone else. Unlike the original Yogg-Saron it is as not as oppressive of a force that you have to also run your own copy in every deck to counter their copy but it is still an amazing panic button and absolutely necessary if you play spell synergy cards. The Tortollan Pilgrim however can be playable without it IMO.
If you want to change any cards in particular or feel another card deserves to be in here but isn't this is a non-exhaustive list of those cards I would consider trying to add in (ordered by mana cost):
Elemental Evocation, Ancient Mysteries, Loot Hoarder, Mana Cyclone, Sorcerer's Apprentice, Bloodmage Thalnos, Flame Ward, Ice Barrier, Fireball, Water Elemental, Youthful Brewmaster, Banana Buffoon,Voodoo Doll, Bone Wraith, Gnomish Inventor, Half-Time Scavenger, Sandbinder, Barista Lynchen, Khartut Defender, Rabble Bouncer, Siamat, Jepetto Joybuzz, King Phaoris, Sea Giant.
Thanks everyone! Hope to see some of y'all on Twitch sometime!

I'm loving how Standard is like: "Play a Highlander deck and jam as many legendaries as can fit and synergize". I personally run 9 in Highlander Hunter. Brann AND Leeroy make for bad times for Mage.
Ugh.... Another Mage deck that looks fantastic on paper but seems to fail around turn 5-6.... I can't even get out of 10 Rank....
Please check out my combo priest deck literally only one legendary card in it and I can teach you also how to got #12 legend with it :)

I have the games of me getting to top 12 posted to youtube.

I also stream every deck in the game basically on twitch. I take requests, and help players who have questions with crafting and disenchanting live and in real time.

I have tweaked this list in particular a bit. But if you need help in general with mulligans, strategy or lists for any deck in the game fill free to reach out either on here or through my twitter too.

I bet I can get you to legend even if not at least rank 5 for the end of season rewards :)
Nice decklist. Used it a few days to climb from rank 8 to 4. Started with your exact list, then later on added sandbinder and siamat as you already suggested and took out puzzlebox and tortollan pilgrim. So far I like the changes.
Only thing is that this deck still just gets overrun by aggro if they draw decent and we draw poorly. Not sure what the best anti-aggro cards is to put in and whether it's worth it. Tried Flame Ward for a while and it wasn't bad, but murlocs can play around it with Coldlight Seer and it's average against reborn creatures too. Maybe Bone Wraith as that's the most vulnerable turn against aggro with this deck imo. Or Rabble Bouncer.
My current list plays Acidic Swap Ooze the reborn cards like bonewrath and khartut and a witchwood piper so good changes against the aggro meta you mentioned :)
Why is dat deck so expensive :(

I commented on a YouTube video but I only just made an account so I guess i'll say it here
I was looking at your "Top 50 pocket mage deck" and there are some cards that i don't have but i still want to play the deck, the cards that i don't have are:
Archmage antonidas Power of creation Kalecgos Puzzle box of yogg-saron
Could you also tell me a few budget replacements. Some cards that I already do have are Leeroy Jenkins,, spitting image, unseen saboteur and weaponized pinata.
I think already answered this somewhere else but. Feel free to cut Puzzle Box I myself don't play it. The other three I still do. But you can run any over the other suggested replacements above. Antonidas is a great mage card that is classic (won't rotate) so probably worth crafting when you get the chance and once you craft a legendary you can't open it again later :)
What cards could be removed in order to add Jepetto and King Phaoris?
Recently I cut Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron and then so did APXvoid for now so if you do that you definitely don't put in King Phaoris. My current build actually is testing sandbinder with siamat and I am trying to add in banana buffoon now so my newly added mana cyclone and elemental evocation has more synergy than just magic trick ray of frost.
To answer your question. I would recommend cutting one or two of these: Khadgar, Novice Engineer, or Messenger Raven.
Top 20 priest deck full guide is officially out now and you can find it here ...

A fun and competetive deck indeed.
But Bomb warrior counters Reno and Zephrys soo much (you have multiple bombs which is the same card). Need a way our of that one.
Still won though
If you want to try something else I posted a really sick budget priest deck that I got top 20 with. Hopefully the amount of bomb warriors stay low but I feel like we still win that match up a lot thanks to pocket galaxy being so strong especially against relatively slow warriors.
:)
Will try your deck, but for now I am feeling great with this deck.
I see bomb warriors once in ~8games
Currently top 20 also using Kolento priest with one replacement check that guide coming soon. Budget deck only one legendary and mostly free basic cards. With over 2 people including me in top 20 legend with it!
Our build for that guide is currently ranked number one for priest according to hsreplay.net
Built a deck using your list and changed a couple of cards here and there, looks like fun!
Sweet if you have any questions about the deck or hearthstone strategy in general let me now! I'm sure this list will be tweaked a bit in the future.
Drew pocket at 50 and now we are still climbing no changes made yet tho could use some probably
