A very top-heavy ressurection priest. Back when control warlock was all the rage with the big 9-mana taunt demon, I had a lot of succes with a very greedy control priest with mind controls. I made it to legend with just that deck a few times. Now, I don´t know if there will be any great mind control targets in this meta, but i figured - since I´m already playing all these 9-cost spells, I might as well go all the way and play some 10-cost spells as well! :) Plague of Death seems great, too, and I think alle the taunts and removal spells in the deck will be plenty to take us to turn 9 so we can plague ´em. I wanted to play the new quest as well, as it seems a good way to finish the game. For that plan you´d need minions to stick tho, so that´s why we also have this whole ressurection package in the deck.
So to sum up: play quest - heal, remove and play taunts. Once the taunts die - ressurect them. At some point complete the quest, and then just heal your minions and steal their minions until you win.
note- the 10-mana legendaries might end up being cut from the deck and replaced by some wellstatted minion at lower manacost.
Thanks for reading, folks, and feel free to pitch in with ideas :)
Sweet deck, thanks for sharing! I've been messing around with it since the expansion dropped, and I can safely say that Rez Priest is back, baby! I don't know how it will shape up in the long run, but for now, I've come up with a few recommendations. Keep in mind this is based on my experience over the span of ~40 games, so, hey, feel free to disagree.
1. Seance is just too slow most of the time. It can put in some work, but I feel like it doesn't pull its weight often enough. I ended up swapping both copies for Psychopomp. Yes, it can mess up your revives (and seems to more often than it really should) but its effect is well beyond good enough to make it worthwhile. Plus it helps out a load against aggro. Pulling a Witchwood Grizzly or Convincing Infiltrator can end the game right then and there against them, and it gives more than enough value to keep up against control.
2. I love the use of Mind Control, but, again, it's incredibly slow. I felt two copies was too much, one can swing you a win, but the second rarely does anything. I replaced it with a copy of Holy Ripple as I seem to face a lot of swarm-style decks, but that slot can be shifted to fit whatever you're facing. I also played around with another Divine Hymn and a Mass Dispel and both did some work, but were too slow against faster variants of Zoo and Murloc decks. Definitely a slot for experimentation.
3. As much as I want him to, King Phaoris just doesn't feel at home here. As mentioned, he pollutes the rez pool a ton, but the biggest issue I find with him is that he ends up being a 'win more' card pretty often. If you're at the point where you can play him safely and risk a bad roll, you're probably already ahead. Plus it's probably better, not to mention way more reliable, to just play the spells you have. Though it's less powerful, Mass Resurrection is almost always a safer option. He got cut for Zilliax, which tends to be a lot better on rez than you might expect, and the added trading and heal power help keep you in the game and advance the quest.
4. Colossus of the Moon is probably bad, but I love him. If you can make time to drop him safely, you're almost always going to win, and he makes for a great last push against control decks. It would almost certainly be better to put in a Mosh'Ogg Enforcer, but I can't bring myself to do it. He stays.
Looks too top heavy and aggro will have killed you by midgame.
It's a little greedy, sure, but there are tons of good ways to get the board back on turns 4-6.
Looks interesting...I will certainly try it and adapt it as I see what the meta evolves. Hope this expansion will be a good one for priest.
Won't King Phaoris massively pollute the resurrection pool?
You´re probably right, I just thought it would be a cool swing turn given that the deck has all these 9 and 10-cost spells :) But yeah, there´s probably a better option than Phaoris. Thanks for commenting!:)
