I figured it would be fun to revisit Beastmaster Mage from back in Rastakhan's Rumble. The big draw to use Untamed Beastmaster in Mage is it's synergy with Book of Specters. Many beasts rotated out since the last time we ran this but Rise of Shadows does bring a few nice ones. Messenger Raven & EVIL Cable Rat both trade tempo to keep our hand full for Mountain Giant & Twilight Drake. The other new beast, Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk doesn't exactly need to be bigger but it can definitely help it survive the turn for Conjurer's Calling. Nightmare Amalgam is again working overtime, helping set up the rush on Scaleworm and activating Arcanosaur. I experimented with Vex Crow & Banana Buffoon a decent amount but ended up switching them to more utility beasts like Emperor Cobra & Ironbeak Owl.
