The Wild Meta is very aggro oriented at the moment and this is the answer to it. You beat Odd-Paladin and Kingsbane Rogue due to all the Weapon Removal, Reno Jackson as well as all the board clears and reset buttons this deck provides. While it is a strong deck overall, it is quite expensive with 7+ Legendaries and some epics here and there. Renolock has been around for quite some time and with every expansion there are a few addition to this deck that make it a bit better than before which makes it a safe craft
How do we win against combo decks which are mainly Quest Mages and Shudderwock Shamans atm? We use Brann Bronzebeard + Either a Gnomeferatu to burn their cards or a Dirty Rat to pull their combo pieces. Even getting 1 Arcane Giant before Open the Waygates is finished usually ends up with you winning the game. If that was not enough we do have Zola the Gorgon to try again, heal again or clear again with Lord Godfrey. If everything fails we do have Unseen Saboteur to pull another combo piece of them. Skulking Geist is here for all the Jade Druids, 1 card to win... SeemsGood
But what about Control heavy decks like Big Priest and Odd-Warrior? Well, sad news. It is very unlikely to win against them as they do have a lot of heal and value + a good late game. But dont worry, as of now they are less than 13% of what you encounter and if you really want to beat them include the Mechathun package which is: Mecha'thun, Bloodbloom, Cataclysm and Emperor Thaurissan to not immediately lose
Acidic Swamp Ooze & Gluttonous Ooze
Kingsbane is around. Rallying Blade exists as well as Unidentified Maul. What about Jade Claws or Death's Bite? They gone 🦀
Another One to not lose the early game and being ded on Turn 4. It seems like Never Surrender is pretty good against Defile but this card could not care less about its effect
Not just Token Druid is around and floods the board early on with 1-2 Health non demon minions, Odd Paladin is the terror of the neighborhood and always wait for the Turn 5 Quartermaster to come down. We can ruin their plans easily and making sure by including this
For those moments when your opponent plays another minion on his board of 3 and you get the best outcome, when you face lots of small Tokens and beat them with their own creature and lastly a Brann Bronzebeard into MC Tech is sometimes game deciding
It has Taunt and it heals. It is a Demon to be resurrected by Bloodreaver Gul'dan and can be drawn with Sense Demons (yes the heal works too when drawn by it). Good enough to wait for Lord Godfrey to clear their board the following turn
Might hit Cataclysm and some board clears are wasted because of him. Sometimes a Fireball hits the opponents face and other times he decides to cast Ultimate Infestation when your opponent is at 9 Cards. A little lottery in itself
More than half the decks consists of epic/legendary cards and that might be a bit too much for your dust (or wallet) so here the cards that can be replaced for any Basic/Common/Rare to let the deck be as close to the full version as possible. The cards that are not mentioned are essential for the deck and I do not recommend playing it without them i.e. Bloodreaver Gul'dan or Reno Jackson. Starting with:
Youthful Brewmaster has almost the same effect and +1 attack right? 1 less mana to bounce Reno Jackson on Turn 8 and usually you care about the effect of the card you get back into your hand and not too much about the stats on the field
You usually end up getting a 5 mana potion that does not include the 4 damage aoe due to your RNG and end up with a mediocre minion and spell. The side effect of a Kazakus on Turn 4 is your opponent playing around the potential spell you might have. I´d say we put in a Kobold Librarian and draw other cards + making our early game a bit better. Not the best substitute but this effect is too unique
He heal and he helps the people. Good that we got a Ninja Turtle with the same stats that also heals Travelling Healer is our friend in this case. A Shroom Brewer also heals, has good stats and would be a solid inclusion as well
A Plated Beetle takes the spot for this. The potential of burning a combo piece might sound good but usually you help your opponent getting better top decks when you burn their 1 mana cards they could draw on turn 7
This might be the only card that is not just good for some fun moments but also a good inclusion at the same time. The effect is to disrupt a combo, Coldlight Oracle can make your opponent overdraw and with that also "disrupt" it if you get lucky enough. A Sludge Belcher would also make sense as the card overall is pretty good
Playing Nether in this Meta LUL (Neviilz reference) might not be the best idea anyways. It usually clears 3-4 minions and for the cost of 8 mana the effect is not too good. I would just go for a Taunt minion like Rotten Applebaum or Safeguard as their purpose is similar: Not taking damage
Consider asking your question for anything regarding this deck down below or asking me during my streams which can be found with schedule down below. Don´t forget to upvote this guide as a single +1 makes a big difference, thanks!
Very nice deck versus aggro. Now ladder has 95% aggro decks. N`zoth is usless. So now my state is 16-4 . Thx solem for this deck. Renolock is the best.
Btw my english is bad. I am sorry for that.
in 75 games i faced 37% of big priests. so im fairly certain this deck aint the best for me to run
replacement for Lord Godfrey?
Would you drop the Acidic Swamp Ooze following the KB rogue nerfs? If so, what would you replace it with
Rin against mirrors/heavy matchups (Odd Warrior/ Quest Priest), N'Zoth a bit more value, Siphon Soul against big threats (Even Shaman), Rotten Applebaum against aggro, Loatheb against Casino Mage, etc. You can choose you want
also thanks from my side for publishing this decklist .... got my 4th legend on wild EU ... all the way from rank 5 to legend (only avoid big priests or otk decks like exodia mages/mechathun warlocks and your fine!) ;-)
keep it up!
Thx Solem for this deck! First time legend on EU! :D
I faced a lot of Jade Druids on Rank 1-2, and honestly the Geist won me those matchups (except bad RNG ones) The other matchups were aggro and with this deck you can destroy them easily :3
only one priest??????? im just bad at the game then. 37% of my matches were against big priest
What rank? These statistics are rogue pre-nerf last month, and there was a lot of more aggro than this month
spent 4k+ on this deck
went from rank 1 to rank 5
0 wins
dont know if i suck or this is not good anymore
all agro destroy me
indeed, this deck is not currently tier 1
"0 wins"
To get 0 wins from rank 1 to rank 5 you need to play extremely bad, regardless of the deck.
Either you are exaggerating or you just need to play a bit more careful. Even bad decks win from time to time if played decent.
Renolock is considered one of the most difficult decks to pilot.. You don't get good after 3-4 tries.
Sure you can have major bad rng against aggro, but the mulligan and the tapping is very crucial to understand..
Better luck next time!
I really want to suggest to include Rin, the First Disciple. This card helped me a lot to win against some control match-up (hello, Baku the Mooneater warrior), also much help in mirror match-up.
You can win control matchups with Brann, Zola and Gnome to mill cards (also not tapping at all against Odd Warrior is key)
Where are all the aggro players ((
Looks great and thanks 4 the explanation!
I feel like by the time I’ve crafted this entire deck, the meta’s gonna shift back to the n’zoth version. I don’t have n’zoth or Sylvanas, if that does happen and I blow my dust on this version Ima cry.
It really depends on what you face, I got Legend with the N'Zoth version last 2 months (and fairly early too) on EU, only thing that beat me was Kingsbane and Big Priest (Kingsbane 50-50, Big Priest around 60-40 for them).
