Just piloted this deck from 5-legend with a 79% win rate 38-10
Dominates rogue, hunter, warlock, and the mirror against control war. Mage is almost unwinnable.
Edit: Not my decklist!!
Yea boomship is the only way to guarantee your combo every game. That being said, I often play boomship for just getting minions in play against aggressive decks. There's only a handful of matchups where you actually win by getting your combo off, the rest you win but controlling the board and out tempoing your opponent.
Best way to explain it: this deck plays a lot like control warrior except for control vs. control matches you have a win condition. The reason I like this deck is I can't stand the control vs. control mirror, it takes waaaayy too long.
I'm wondering a bit about your boomship useage. Do you ever use it besides dropping mechathun? Wouldn't a galvanizer be better and you take out malygos as well as the 2 inner rages and replace them with something...more useful?
edit: I've played a few games with the deck, and I've never gotten to actually win with mecha'thun, I always either won or lost before that :x
What would Galvanizer do here? You still need Malygos for the combo... if you take that combo out, then I guess your only option would be to Shield Slam your Mecha'Thun, but that's never guaranteed to work
See my comment above. Unlike other mechathun decks where getting your combo off is your only win condition, this deck plays a lot more like a standard control deck with another win condition.
afaik shield slamming your mechathun is the "standard" strategy though, the malygos version is more consistent I guess, but at the same time you also put a lot more cards that are not necessarily helpful in most other cases
I don't think that's necessarily true. If your win condition for a particular game is not going to be the combo then you can start using your combo cards to clear the board, draw, or put pressure on your opponent. They aren't just dead cards in your hand like typical combo decks.
Relying on having the armour to be able to shield slam your mechthun just won't win you games consistently. Take the hunter matchup for example. They put a decent amount of pressure on you, enough so that you can't stack up a ton of armour but your win condition will still be to get your combo off because you won't fatigue them simply because they have too much value. You would lose this 100% of the time if you are relying on shield slamming mechathun instead of having the reliable combo.
It's all about identifying what your win condition is for specific matchups and using your combo pieces accordingly.
