I got this deck from Heeljin. I was making my own hybrid of mech hunter and vul'jin/token hunter when I came across this. It wouldn't let me select him in the pro player bit, so giving props here.
At the moment there is no need for me to change the deck, as it's a beautiful masterpiece, but the idea was to use his as a base and build upon it.
It plays like a control/mid range hybrid, and it's extremely strong against a lot of decks at the moment.
I missed the whole dire frenzy + Scalehide thing as I wasn't playing at the time, but right now it seems to be really good.
I wanted a way to include some of the mech synergy with zul'jin, but originally I was going more of the bomb route. I think this works much better.
Once I've had a chance to play with it and learn it properly I plan to use it to help me build more hunter decks in the future.
EDIT: took out one ooze to try out vargoth as he's insanely powerful for double casting frenzy and nine lives.
The idea is from the more death rattle focussed decks that sometimes run him. I don't know if it will work as well here as we have the poison missile launcher thing going on, but I reckon it will be no problem as you're not going to play poison missile launcher with board advantage anyway.
I'll be uploading my Death rattle deck later. Still missing a couple of cards, but I reckon I can make a decent enough version for now.
I think that add more Lynx is a better choice as we gradually face those rogues and Lynx will trade better. Maybe Piper out and Lynx in?
yeah mate the deck doesn't really have any early game stuff. it doesn't have any 1 drops. you could maybe add that lynx or something?
see usually I let the faster decks hit me a bit and then I drop applebaum and then try and get that scalehide combo off asap for sustain.
hunter decks mainly are control killers at the minute though, so aggro decks tend to have their way with us. If you are in an aggro heavy meta picket at the minute, I'd suggest playing something else.
I'm playing control shaman and a more agressive overload deck with electra at the minute and I've not lost a game since start of new league.
i always play to counter aggro at the start of a season though. then once you're at the high ranks and you start seeing more control decks, switch to hunter then.
This deck really is meant for healing through bomb hunter and outlasting control warrior, while still being better at rogues. proper aggro decks will still smash you though, hunter just isn't well equipped to deal with stuff like murloc shaman.
Poison missiles really surprises people. Loving this deck! I've had trouble with aggro but that was due to my mistakes.
glad you're liking it. yeah mate people don't know what's going on as it's not a known deck at all. the dual-typing really throws them off.
and aye the deck is a bit slow in the early rounds, so this is where applebaum can come in really useful to slow them and to heal. you can recast the healing with nine lives as well.
basically it's just staying alive till you can assemble enough of the pieces to kill them off. if you play the poison missiles one turn then magnetize zilliax the next, it's normally game over unless they have an answer. they usually have to do sub-optimal plays in order to remove it though, and in the process completely loose tempo.
I'm making a death rattle deck tonight. I'm still missing shaw and undertakah for it to be fully complete, but I reckon I can still build something good with what I have right now.
you might want to consider vargoth for double casts of spells. you can do double dire frenzies and double nine lives etc. it's really good. only reason he's not in this one is because of the poison missile launcher stuff tbf. he's going in the death rattle focussed version which cares more about making a big board state.
you could totally put him in over an ooze or something though. results would be decent I'd imagine.
here's the DxR version. I'd like to add shaw next and then undertakah to finish it off.
Having a bad streak on losing early game. Trying to see what to do to help with that.
I plan on giving this a run, but I'm wondering if Safeguard isn't a better deathrattle taunt, given the ability to stack up a taunt wall if need be and the mech tokens it creates for magnetic combos. Once I finally get to give this a go, i'll let you know how I make out!
you can try it. I mean it might be decent, but safe guard costs 2 more mana I think. having applebaum on 5 is sometimes crucial to stall if your hand isn't as good.
basically you won't always get scalehide and frenzy, sometimes they'll be at the bottom of the deck. It means you can take a pummeling while assembling the pieces you need to have a big swing turn then basically win.
playing applebaum holds them off and will probably heal you for 5, you can then get another 5 from nine lives, as well as another taunt with another 5 health again (meaning 15 healing in total) the reason this deck is so good is because no one expects hunter to be healing so much. it blind sides just about everyone who goes up against it.
not to mention how funny it is to set up poison missiles, and then add zilliax the next turn to start healing back up. If they cannot silence it, it puts them on a timer to remove it.
Yeah, mech hunter does this too, but mech hunter doesn't have the buffed scalehides and the applebaum trick as well as that.
