Strategy
Generate Lackeys tokens as fast as you can and use their battlecries wisely in the early-game. You can get more tokens from Raiding Party: Use Serrated Tooth and Sharkfin Fan to stick tokens on the board.
Drop your Hench-Clan Thug to build pressure, your opponent will probably waste his turn removing it.
Now you can play Spirit of the Shark and profit the very next turn by slamming to the board some Former Champ, Frostwolf Warlord and Heistbaron Togwaggle. Also, your Lackeys Battlecry will trigger twice and you can use them to buff Edwin VanCleef.
Heroic Innkeeper is the highest cost card in the list, the sinergy with the shark is broken... it's worth a try!
Updated budget version post rogue nerf , full list with replacements in description
Raiding Party is crap in this deck with only two pirates. Especially after the nerf.
I love this deck because it can be a ton of fun and isn't meta. Lose a lot but win here and there. When I figured out how to play the deck properly I think I got to around 45% WR
Love that deck, it's so much fun! I made some minor changes: Preparation didn't work out for me, in some games I ended up with 2x Preparation on my hand and couldn't play anything usefull. If you don't draw the lackey cards, you'll get a lack of cards with both Preparations. Also I cut out one Raiding Party, because we have not enaugh pirates and weapons to justify both. I therefore added Leeroy Jenkins, who won me some close games, and Microtech Controller, which is super for generating tokens. About Zilliax I'm not really shure if it's good to include that card or not. It lacks synergies, but also can be a life saver. Spirit of the Shark absolutely kicks ass with Edwin VanCleef, Heroic Innkeeper, Heistbaron Togwaggle and the lackeys and so on. I'd love to copy this card to use it more often. Do you see any possibilities for that?
Man, I love the hell out of this deck, just starting playing it today. It's very aggro and has a lot of synergy. Like there's been 3 times where I managed to pull off a 28/28 Heroic Innkeeper. From all the matches I played today (half Ranked and half Casual), my WL ratio was 30-9, which is actually quite impressive. I swapped Edwin VanCleef and 1x Preparation to save me a bit of dust with 1x Sea Giant and 1x Shadowstep and they both work quite well. You can pretty much win without Lackeys if you don't draw them, as Sharkfin Fan can just fill up your board, if you're lucky enough you can also play your Spirit of the Shark and then you can play either Frostwolf Warlord or Heroic Innkeeper for really big damage, and possibly lethal. While playing the deck, I noticed that there were many occasions where I couldn't even get that much value out of Edwin VanCleef, either due to a lack of mana or cards. EVIL Miscreant is essential to keeping your hand in good shape. And yes, there has been a game or two where my mulligan was absolute trash because I had gotten 2 Heroic Innkeepers or other expensive cards such as my added Sea Giant which resulted in me losing the game. Even with those moments, I still recommend keeping those cards inside. If you haven't noticed already, Heistbaron Togwaggle is a very sweet and possibly even staple card in this deck. I don't see many replacements for it, really. It offers great value and you would almost always have a Lackey inside of your hand or on the board to trigger his effect. Doubling his effect with Spirit of the Shark is oh, sweet value. I would usually go with Zarog's Crown, as you can get giant legendaries or ones with great effects, but there has been a time where my choices were a 3/3, a 2/2, or another 2/2. Wondrous Wand is also a really great pick, as you can get cards such as your Warlord or Innkeeper to cost (0), then possibly play them on the same turn and have really great value and giant minions on the board. It's a great deck, it really is. But 3 times out of 4 where I fought Bomb Warrior, I've lost. The control and armor early game seems to overpower this deck. Would I recommend this? Definitely.
I can't win with this deck unless I have a really good mulligan. I've just been getting stomped with each class. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I mainly have trouble finishing them off.
I agree. this deck isn't good.
Considering that a majority of the minions are primarily good for their battlecries in this deck, would Jepetto Joybuzz be good in this deck? The only truly bad draws would be the Deckhands, Sharkfin Fan, and Hench-Clan Thug. While this does lower the power of some other minions (excluding Former Champ and EVIL Cable Rat), it could help enable combos, especially if key minions *cough* Spirit of the Shark *cough* are at the bottom of the deck.
Although I imagine you could play Sprint/myra's for a similar effect (without the decreased costs though).
I love the theme and idea of the deck - feels very new and fresh - but I struggled quite a bit at the start.
I replaced the two Heroic Innkeepers (only helps you when you’ve got a big board, a.k.a. you’re winning anyway) with two Sea Giants - feels much better to me, much easier to get value out of those, and basically your only chance against Token Druid.
I never needed the Raiding Party - swapped in a second Fan of Knives (against that freakin‘ Token Druid) and world‘s greatest Barista (Lynchen), that often gives you great value. In fact, as soon as it copies you two battlecry minions, it‘s been more than worth its slot. And copying Togwaggle can be your way to winning against Warrior.
Last change was exchanging gthe second Sabretooth (I‘m not sure the deck needs two) for a second sap, as it gives you a lot of tempo, and helps greatly against those annoying magnetic mechs Warrior and Hunter play. But that‘s the change I‘m least sure about - for me, the second Sap is the „tech slot“.
Great success and a lot of fun atm - seems to crush Summoner Mage, Tempo Rogue and Mech Hunter, slim chances against Token Druid (you need a perfect start), very weak to Control and Bomb Warrior. In fact, Warrior seems to be the natural counter to this deck - or have you guys found a way against multiple board clears and lots of armor?!?
Amazing changes! I followed your suggestions and now the deck is greatly improved!!!
Instead of Barista Lynchen, i put Myra's Unstable Element . In times of desperation, IMO Myra has better value...
Replace for Frostwolf Warlord ?
Why would you want to exchange a cheap, basic, common card that‘s a lot of value in this deck?!?
because it's still bad. some people are full competitive. that's the way you'll get legend, not with Frostwolf Warlord
playing this with a few different cards. probably one of my favourite decks at the minute by far.
I love rogue a lot, but I feel bad playing tempo rogue at the moment. at least with this (although it's still deadly) I can have a bit of fun doing some crazy stuff, and I'm not just going straight for the jugular.
you might want to check out cards like barista lynchen. this deck is actually perfect for her. (sea giants aren't bad neither)
this deck is so funny, the sinergies that you can get are insane
How important is toggwagle?
Kidn of important because your board is very low health and he can discover two more 5/5 minions ( on average) that makes it more sticky. It's good vs mage who cant clear your board with flame strike as easy. Good vs rogue too because he cant deal with that many minions. Vs warrior not so good he can just brawl them all away... and if you take the draw a card treasure you will draw his bombs so the monkey is pretty good against him but sometimes the legendaries you get are useless. Monkey is good against hunter too but they are pretty quick togwagggle is too slow against them. Other classes I didn't see much of.
Cool deck!
What if take Crazed Chemist? Looks nice..
Greetings traveler! I like the idea to build a deck around Spirit of the Shark . I came up with idea to make my own small twist to the deck (aka deck doctor). If you would like to see deck doctored deck here is the video. Cheers and may the good RNG be with you!
Really enjoying playing this deck. Swapped out -2x Raiding Party -1x Serrated Tooth for +2x Fan of Knives and +1x Barista Lynchen . Felt i was drawing the pirates more often than the raiding party so it just ended up a dead card.
