Hello!

Here is my working Tesspionage deck. As promised, 15+ votes would get you a guide (now at 40+ so thank you!). For those who want to just see this in play, I have some deck replays down at the bottom of the guide!

Deck Revision 1.1: -1 Walk the Plank -1 Augmented Elekk +2 Unidentified Contract

General Outline of this deck:

I created this deck as an update to Kibler’s YOTR (Year of the raven) Tesspionage deck. I REALLY had fun with it towards the end of YOTR and figured I would try to create a decent replacement with all the expansions going out of rotation.

The main purpose of this deck is to (TACTFULLY) get your Spectral Cutlass buffed up to a point where your out value your opponents damage with your own heals while being able to play super cheap cards from your opponents class. You achieve this by doing playing your weapon attack buffing cards (Cutthroat Buccaneer’s, Captain Greenskin, and Deadly Poison’s) as well as playing other class cards (generated by Blink Foxs and Academic Espionages).

DO NOT PLAY Academic Espionage TOO EARLY! You will find yourself with a huge deck with no real way to get through it since you have buried your draw mechanics in a sea of potentially unhelpful cards if you can’t draw them quickly! If you hold out till you get raiding party or your pirates and weapon by top decking, then you will more than likely have a Sprint in your hand as well (just by probability).

You have some control cards that will allow you to maintain a manageable board in the beginning, which include Saps and Backstabs, as well as your Wicked Knife, generated by using your hero power.

Your best position is to The Coin out, or Backstab into, Raiding Party. This combo will get you your weapon builders, as well as your Spectral Cutlass.

Once you have your Spectral Cutlass and pirates, you can start using Academic Espionage to get your deck pumping with lost cost cards.

ABOVE IS THE EXTREMELY HIGH-LEVEL EXPECTATION OF THIS DECK. There is a lot of strategy that will need to be used when dealing with a meta that runs a lot of weapon removal.

MULLIGANS

You should always keep the following cards:

raiding party

  • Raiding Partyx1
    • After many games, I feel that this card in hard at the start puts me in the best position. It is because it draws three cards, making drawing other cards more likely (e.g. sprint, prep, AE, etc.).

preparation

academic espionage

spectrall cutlass

REPLACEMENTS

Here are some cards that can be added to this deck that will slightly change the play style but can add (different but great) value:

unidentified contract

  • Unidentified Contract x2
    • I have tried this out in luau of Augmented Elekkx1 and Walk the Plankx1 and have not been disappointed at all. This change offers a little more control with the benefit of either gaining a card, gaining two coins, gaining super destructive board clear, or a tiny little poison menace.
    • Here is a run with this replacement. Even though I don't use the contracts, it still show how powerful the deck can be (Me vs. Secret Mech Paly): https://hsreplay.net/replay/pycWgLSxCj2EBWUTNhvwrZ

  • Vendetta instead of Sap
    • This is good for mid-game clear if you feel that the meta is driving hard on mid-game minions that you want to just get rid of

I must stop for now because it is late… but I will keep going at it soon!

PS. If there is anyone who is bored and wants to make me some creative assets/banner images to call out the various sections mentioned above (or any others i may have missed). I would like to use these banners moving forward when creating decks and uploading them here! i was thinking of like a Tiki with some sort of controller (or whatever your little heart desires) <3! PM if you want!

Enjoy it!
