Come in and Warm your Frozen Boots by the Fire!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gunnolf, and I am originally from the Land Down Under a.k.a. Australia. I am an avid gamer that has acquired a real passion for card games, which originated from my humble beginnings as a Yu-Gi-Oh collector and eventually grew from my dabbling in Cardfight Vanguard and Buddyfight, until we reached the game we know as Hearthstone.

I've played Hearthstone since the days of classic, with multiple accounts on both EU and NA servers. Despite having reached the Rank of Legend and my own personal mentality of equating 'having fun' with 'winning', I am not really a fan of meta power-grinding & net-decking, not that there is anything wrong with that. Therefore, I enjoy thinking about new, cool and fun deck ideas that push boundaries while also allowing you to win and those are what I want to share with you guys every-time I post a decklist.

I have presently become a contributing writer to WILDHS and will be posting articles there on a semi-regular basis, regarding deck-archetypes the status of the meta as well as how to get the most fun out of this game even if you aren't a big spender. If any of this sounds interesting, then I highly recommend that you check out of the website, as the writers and the owner himself are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet with great in-game knowledge (link to be website can be found HERE). You can also follow me on Twitter for latest updates.

If you genuinely like my content and would like to see me produce more of it, then please consider supporting me on Patreon. This is by no means necessary but it will definitely help me out in the long run. Thanks for Reading ^^

Deck Introduction

Fresh from the publication of a Reno Mage deck that requires a whopping 23k dust to play, I present to you an uber budget deck that can really pile on the pressure against your opponents and actually win a substantial amount of games. Forget measly 3/4 stats on turn 2, taunts and specifically Voidlord as you smash through everything with the power of silence. Lets get right into it.

Card Choices and Deck-building Explained

In this section, I will explain some of the card choices I opted for and the reasoning as to why they were included over potential counter-parts.

1) Acidic Swamp Ooze: While it may be weird that a weapon tech is showing up among recommended choices, some form of weapon removal should definitely be included since it truly helps against rogue, mage and especially warlock.

2) Divine Hymn: A definite one of that allows for combo draw with Northshire Cleric but more crucially heals face. This allows for efficient trades against aggro while also keeping you at a healthy life total.

3) Faceless Rager: You might be thinking, with all the options Wild has to offer why on earth am I using this card? Well simply put it has a great mana-cost and actually allows you to curve perfectly in the early game.

At the present time, only a few cards have been listed but I will include more if questions pop-up within the comments section regarding substitutions and why other cards were included.)

Alternate Card Inclusions | Tech Cards

Heya guys so as this is wild, there might be some of you wondering why you haven't seen some more of the staples of thesee kind of decks. I'll illustrate below why I haven't included them in this list and when, if at all, you should add them in. In general, the healthiest way of thinking os such cards is tech.

a) Faceless Rager vs Faceless Shambler: I do expect this to be one of the first comments that comes up in relation to this deck. In response, I have to say the following and I won't bring up dust cost cause that's just a cheap shot HA! Anyway, Rager costs one less mana and has 5 attack naturally. Almost all the minions we run have 5 or less attack (with the sole exception or Eerie Statue) which puts Faceless Rager a step above Faceless Shambler in terms of pure stats. Furthermore, as the attack of Rager is naturally 5, it doesn't get wrecked by silence quite as hard. The only negative thing and this is a point in favor of Shambler is that rager doesn't have taunt. If you want defensive cards than shambler is definitely the way to go but in general your goal is to overwhelm your opponent qith quick stats and a perfect curve both of which Rager does better.

b) Acidice Swamp Ooze vs Gluttonous Ooze: Both answers are correct. Now the reason why I chose the 2 mana variant instead of the 3 is due to the fact that the armor gain is of no real special significance to this deck (unlike renomage for example). You want to be as efficiently as possible with your mana and in general the card is more so meant to target Skull of the Man'ari and Aluneth. Both are correct and you are free to choose either.

c) Sunfury Protector: The ultimate anti-aggro card. I guess it technically should be in the deck and if you decide to run faceless shambler in the list you can definitely run her as well in order to beat out aggro. I don't consider her necessary but should would be really powerful in an aggro pocket meta. The most likely sub if you want to add her in is to get rid of Quartz Elemental which is by far the heaviest (in terms of mana cost) can't attack minion.

d) Spellbreaker: Super good neutral card but it got hardcore replaced by Unsleeping Soul and Kabal Songstealer just has a better body to go along with the silence effect. You can of course include him but in general I preferred the raw stats.

(The only real limit is your imagination. Just because these cards worked for me and proved themselves in games I played, does not mean that their inclusion is absolute.)

The Inner Fire Build

I honestly didn't want to turn this deck into another version of Inner Fire. It's definitely a fun type of deck to play but all in all I wanted something different. A cost-effective deck that really had its own feel to it and playstyle. However, that is not to say that I didn't experiment with Inner Fire as well. If this kind of list is your thing then go ahead and play around with it.

-2x Faceless Rager | +2x Faceless Shambler
-1x Divine Hymn & -1x Acidic Swamp Ooze | +2x Divine Spirit
-2x Quartz Elemental | +2x Inner Fire
-2x Kabal Songstealer | +2x Kabal Talonpriest
-2x Purify | +2x Radiant Elemental

(Even though I experimented somewhat with this variant, I didn't get anywhere close to the 30 game minimum I usually set for myself when it comes to testing decks, so there is room for error. Feel free to experiment and comment below if you have a working build that helps you ^^)

General Strategy | Win Condition

It's quite a simple deck to be honest. In either case you want to curve out as smoothly as possible and setup your hugely statted minnions for a subsequent face rush. Deepending what what type of deck you are facing however, you should shidt your strategy.

Against control you want to be continuously hitting face and constanly forcing them to be on the defensive thus preventing development.

Against Aggro because your deck does require a bit of a setup, you should look for some key favorable trades before you start going face ensuring they can't do chip damage and then burst you from hand.

Othe Gunnolf Decks

While I am still working on fresh new decks utilising the  new cards from the RiseofShadows expansion, here are a couple of combo decks with updated guides and lists that do in fact use new cards to boost their strategy.

Author's Notes

Much like my other decks, it was truly a lot of funning building this. It's great to see that even on a budget it's possible to develop a full functioning deck around an archetyoe that has not been fully explored and can actually hold its own, at least at the present time. As always practice with the deck abit before taking it to ladder. ^^

I enjoy deck-building a multitude of interesting decks that are both entertaining and Legend viable (with some odd Free-to-Play lists mixed in). So if you like this deck (or anyone of my other ones) consider leaving a thumbs up, as it really helps in the long run! :)

Thank you guys for all your support and if you have any suggestions, let me know.
