Check out my new Token Druid V3.0 updated list out now!
Hey Guys!
Just wanted to share the Token Druid deck I used to get to Legend over the past few days. It's so strong in the meta right now, and I had a positive winrate against all decks, including other token druids. Be sure to read my guide if you're new to token decks, or want some extra advice on playing this specific build!
I went 23W-5L overall with this deck from rank 5 to Legend, with a 75% winrate (9W-3L) against other token druids.
What makes this deck so strong is the way that you maintain pressure on the opponent, and the burst potential with Power of the Wild, Savage Roar, Blessing of the Ancients and Leeroy Jenkins is insane.
Eccentric Scribe is one of my favourite tools in the deck. Everyone seems to be sleeping on the card, and it's won me too many games to count. Its high attack makes it threatening and a must kill for the opponent, but once they pop it, you have four 1/1's which are ready to be buffed up and OTK the opponent. It's also amazing against control classes like warrior, as it leaves you a board after they brawl; it's like a built-in Soul of the Forest. Insane!
Archmage Vargoth is also a key component of the deck, and if they can't kill him after u drop him on turn 4 it's basically game over, as he snowballs out of control with all of the buffing spells.
MULLIGAN
As this is a token deck, we're looking for an efficient, low curve. This means that we want to use all of our mana each turn, to have a better chance of steamrolling the opponent.
KEEP:
Acornbearer, Argent Squire, Dire Wolf Alpha, Dreamway Guardians. EITHER: Landscaping or Microtech Controller, and Power of the Wild or Blessing of the Ancients.
If you already have a 1-2-3 play, Archmage Vargoth should also be a keep, as it's a must kill for the opponent on turn 4.
Against other Token Druids, we want to keep a Swipe aswell, as it's a great play to obliterate their board on turn 4. (Against Wispering Woods)
STYLE OF PLAY
As I said before, we want to play aggressively to win the game as soon as possible. However, there is a limit to this aggression. Part of playing this deck is knowing the opponent's deck as well - specifically their counters. There's a lot of Mage and Warrior roaming around right now, so it's important that you know their board clears, and to play around them; by either trading your minions with theirs to prevent their spells from getting much value, or holding cards in your hand for the same reason.
Mage has Blizzard and Flamestrike. When it's approaching turn 6 and 7, you might want to keep your board relatively small, or try and buff your minions to above 2 or 4 health if you can.
Warrior has Warpath, which can come down as early as turn 2, so you need to be mindful not to over-extend, and to not overload on the number of un-buffed minions you allow to stay on the board on turn 2, 4 and 6 especially. They also have Brawl, but we can counter this by playing cards like Soul of the Forest and Eccentric Scribe, which give us value on the board even after our minions are dead.
Always check if you have lethal - sometimes it's when you least expect it. If you have 3 2/2's on the board, pair them with a Savage Roar and one of the buffing spells, and that's 17 damage to the opponent's face. A few tokens can go a long way!
REPLACEMENTS
Although this deck is relatively cheap, it's still early days in the expansion, so here are a few replacements if you don't feel like crafting anything yet - or are tight on dust.
Leeroy Jenkins out, for The Forest's Aid
Sea Giant out, for Scarab Egg
Dreamway Guardians out, for EVIL Cable Rat
Wispering Woods also works great in this deck, so if you have the card and want to play it, I recommend to take out Argent Squire
You can also remove an Argent Squire and add an Acidic Swamp Ooze if you find yourself facing tempo rogue a lot.
You also might want to include Crystallizer or Floop's Glorious Gloop if you have them and want to try them out, as they have synergy in this deck aswell.
If you have any suggestions or questions, drop them down below.
Cheers :)

That's unusual, as this deck's highest winrate is actually against other token druid decks, which is where this deck shines. It always takes time to settle or learn a new deck, so if you're new to tokens that might be the case
17W-4L. Rank 15 to 10. AWESOME.
YOU'RE AWESOME
if you have vargot for 2 turns you already win. Played 10 games and didn't have him even in hand lol
That happens sometimes, and it's just unfortunate. It's like any deck, sometimes you feel like you never draw a certain card. I'm sure things will balance themselves out, and you'll draw Vargoth much more often. Maybe try keeping him in the mulligan if you have some good spells to go with him!
its just me or this is the only tier 1 deck that is strong and flawed at the same time?
I'm glad everyone thinks this deck is OP, I play any type of control deck and I can beat token druid blind folded :D too bad I only face token druid maybe 1 in 15 matches at best? Pretty sure this deck was tier 1 a few days ago, but surely not anymore.
It's still tier 1, on HS Replay this version has a 59.5% winrate, and it's lowest winrate is actually against Rogue, with 51.8%. That means it still manages to beat the control matchups!
I've noticed HS replay has been quite far behind. While my opponent plays token druid, I quite easily win with any sort of control deck. When I was playing with token druid, I kept getting trounced by any sort of control deck.
Maybe the control decks losing simply don't know how to play control? It's quite simple, if you keep clearing the token druid's board, they can't win.
I absolutely love this. It seems to have an edge over other token druid and while there area lot of classes that will be running boardclears, this deck feels extremely sticky and can make good work of a board of only 3 or so tokens and I love that about it! Dreamway guardian is such a powerful card!
I had a lot of fun so I made a video showcasing the deck in all of its glory, Easiest 4-0 streak of my life!!!
Thanks man! So glad to see you and many others are enjoying my deck so much, doesn't get much better for a deck creator. Keep up the good work on the amazing vids!
I am a Mage player but i was stuck in rank 15 (yes, its embarrasing) and with this deck i've been able to unlock my situation. It is very easy to play and fun too.13-4 atm.
Thanks mate !!
No problem! Glad to hear the deck's working out for you too
So i have Stalladris but I can't see how she can be useful in this deck besides maybe forcing early removals from your opponent. Only card you can really play with her is power of the wild and I don't see a reason to play her there just for this one particular "combo". Is she really a good addition to the deck?
if you want to run stelladris I would run the portals version mate. has a lot more synergy. it runs wisps as well and you basically want ways to fill your hand to max out on wisps. you do this through stelladris by casting choose 1 spells with him on board and through portal.
gives you max value from wisps.
it's a different deck though. that one runs barely any minions at all and relies on tokens instead to get the minions. it is able to refill the board time and time again though. really good deck.
however, people have been running stelladris just to play with power of the wild as well. normally though they run cards that can generate more spells, and these decks tend to be more treant focussed.
If I were you I'd go and have a look on HS replay at the top token druid decks, there is a good range of decks there.
If you want to play stalladris, you should add Wrath, and Mark of the Loa, otherwise it doesn't generate much value. In this deck you'd also want to run Wispering Woods, as your hand would get quite big aswell - but that's veering towards a different style of token druid.
What about Force of Nature here?
Force of Nature would be another mid-late game alternative, but currently i prefer Eccentric Scribe and The Forest's Aid for those slots, as they provide the most tempo on board, and for 5 mana the deck looks to make big plays like 2-drop + Blessing of the Ancients, or 1-drop + Soul of the Forest, to name a couple.
If Warrior gets more popular, force of nature would be an option to consider, as a board refill might be what the deck would need.
if you're running a treant focussed deck it's good. if you already have it you might as well run it. the highest rated druid deck right now is running them and only 1 portal now. (I mean the one that is statistically the best on HS replay. I know those stats are flawed, but it's still a pretty good window)
It's good but i feel that this deck has serious problems against handlock, control shaman and mecha paladin. Also, sometimes i have only buffs on my hand, and zero cards to summon tokens(in the bottom of the deck maybe?)
