and feel free to comment any improvement you would see to it.
but remember...
This is NOT a Mid-Range Hunter deck
This is an AGGRO Hunter Deck
I'm gonna update the deck writeup to add replacement cards and other various usefull informations about it.
-thank you to all of you who will UPVOTE or COMMENT :D
now edited with in details Mulligan Advices, thanks to RiverHS for asking for it :-)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GENERAL MULLIGAN ADVICES : always keep Springpaw and any 2mana cost cards (which are ; Headhunter's Hatchet, Scavenging Hyena, Dire Wolf Alpha, Hench-Clan Hogsteed)
do not keep multiple 2mana cost cards without The Coin, if you do not have Springpaw.
vs Druid, Hunter, Paladin, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock : I would keep Unleash the Hounds since their most popular decks are usually developping a board with 3+ minions quite often. (keep Timber Wolf with Unleash the Hounds if you can keep a Springpaw or coin + any 2 mana cost card from the deck as turn1 play)
vs Priest & Warrior : I would keep Ironbeak Owl (since their hero power counter yours and it might stop you from finishing them if they play a minion you need to silence to clutch the win)
if you can't have Ironbeak Owl, keep Tracking, hold on it and once it's needed, dig for Ironbeak Owl.
vs some Druid, Mage, Paladin, Shaman and Warlock decks, the same advice about Ironbeak Owl and Tracking might apply, but...
this is kind of early in this new expansion to say if you will face more Aggro or Control version of them.
so I'd say think about what you seem to struggle the most against, to choose to keep it or not.
I'll figure this out more effectively as I play more games with this deck.
if you already have Springpaw and any 2mana cost card :
- I would keep Animal Companion (or Tracking if you don't have the coin)
since Animal Companion give you a 1-2-3 mana strong opener on curve, and Tracking open you a lot of option on turn3 or later, to dig for the cards you might need/want later on.
- another good choice if you have Springpaw is to keep Timber Wolf, since turn2 Timber Wolf + Springpaw's Lynx is really strong.
owl vs mage, pal, priest, warrior)
I would not recommand to keep Kill Command or any of the 8 cards in the deck that cost 4mana or more in the Mulligan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, the general idea is to focus on getting a good curve with multiple key possibilities, as this deck's goal is to win as soon as possible, before it is too late, dodge board clears, and avoid or kill big taunt effectively.
since 22 of the 30 cards are 3 mana or less, and only 4 cards are higher than 4 mana you're almost guaranteed a 3 mana or less card when you rotate a card in mulligan.
Springpaw and Hench-Clan Hogsteed have great synergy with Headhunter's Hatchet, Scavenging Hyena and Dire Wolf Alpha.
this is the most important part of the game, turn1 and turn2, if you get great value from them, then it's all about figuring which deck you are facing and play around cards that could ruin your game before you are able to bring your opponent low enough to finish it with hero power and some burst you can draw.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if you have a little more budget, I could see Shimmerfly and/or Revenge of the Wild in this Aggro version of Hunter.
if so, I would rotate out either Timber Wolf, Dire Frenzy, Houndmaster, Dire Wolf Alpha or Ironbeak Owl.
I think I would put only 1 Revenge of the Wild since I believe 2 might be risky to end up with a bad hand, sometime.
and for those who wonder why Leeroy Jenkins is not in this list, it's only because this is a budget decklist :D
I do recommand using it, and recommand switching it with Savannah Highmane
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
again... thank you to all of you who will UPVOTE or COMMENT :D
it is really helpfull :-)
I replace Houndmaster with Halazzi, the Lynx as board cleaner. And works very well from rank 20 to 15, and now I'm using Spell Hunter and Token Druid and get stuck on rank 13.
I also like Halazzi, the Lynx in this decklist,
not only as a board cleaner,
but at an hand refiller,
and last, a killing blow in synergy with Tundra Rhino combo with Animal Companion or Timber Wolf or Scavenging Hyena
but to fit it in this decklist would have killed the purpose of making a F2P 840 dust! Aggro Hunter decklist haha!
but you should be able to get to rank10 or even rank5 (with patience and dodging too many bad match up) with this decklist.
win streaks are gonna carry you so easily even with a 50ish% win rate,
just gonna line up those wins.
I skyrocked from rank18 to rank6 in a few hours (in like 2 or 3 days at most)
that alone, told me that I had to post that decklist here :D
I'm really struggling with this deck right now, it's probably my fault but I can't get past rank 18.
Any advice?
Have you read the General Mulligan Advices?
otherwise, maybe you just got unlucky on a lot of match up, or just didnt played enough games with it.
or also you didnt find the balance between face damage / trading minions / know when you have to commit or not overcommit to the board vs board clears.
Maybe the meta is different around those ranks. I’ve been sitting around rank 10, 9 with this deck.
Love this deck! Thx for sharing mate!
thanks to you for sharing your positive thoughts about it,
I appreciate it a lot :D
I got 4/3 but I failed one of the games , I had to win it ... but I didn't think of it... Mage had Counter Spell and I used Kill Command instead of The Coin . I am such a dumb fck but I didn't know if I would be able to win more games but maybe I could after this. I am still new to the deck I started playing this seasons cards before 2 hours and I don't know what the fuck is going on. This hunter deck is doing good! Upvote for you my man
yeah... vs Mage I try hard to hold on The Coin until I see a secret cast on a board with 2 or 3 minions minimum,
or when I could see him want to avoid being Lethal by a Kill Command
Im glad you like my budget decklist,
and youll see that you will get better with time, as you will learn from your mistakes :-)
0-6 against Rogue at Ranks 8-10. How would you upgrade?
from my personal experience, so far,
I feel that Rogue (and Warrior) are the strongest counter to this deck,
I honestly feel that there is almost nothing to do to counter Warrior without changing way too much cards in the decklist,
but versus both Rogue and Warrior, using Acidic Swamp Ooze could make a good difference.
I think I would swap it with Dire Frenzy, Houndmaster or Ironbeak Owl
And this weapon removal should be usefull in a lot more match up too :-)
but the real question is... how often is it gonna be better than the card you would swap with for
I'm actually 4-3 against Warrior. Ironbeak Owl has seemed to be crucial against Zilliax, which also would otherwise often get magnetized into a too costly/impossible to remove lifestealer.
I haven't figured out how to win against Rogue or Priest yet. They run too many removals and taunts (and heals, for Priest).
yeah, Ironbeak Owl is clearly crucial in some match up!
I like running two copy of it but might consider dropping to one, for now I prefer two.
I think I trade a bit too much vs Warrior (and I do not trade much)
it seems like if they arent dead around turn 6-7, it might be too late already...
As for Rogue and Priest, honestly, I find them easier than Warrior.
I think im around 50-50, used to struggle more in the beginning.
Vs both Rogue and Priest;
I think you have to be real aggro and win the draw war.
Vs Priest; either you draw Silence if need to,
get the big minions on turn3-4-5-6 if need to,
dodge his board clear (him not drawing it)
or getting the strongest opener to kill him super quick.
Vs Rogue; you need a real strong start,
you need to find the correct balance of <trading> vs <face> damage,
and pray he doesnt get too good draws, and that you get decent or great one.
also... having at less one Acidic Swamp Ooze might boost the win rate big a decent amount.
(and not only Vs Rogue...)
the more I play the more I believe I need to swap out something for it,
probably Dire Wolf Alpha, or maybe Dire Frenzy or Houndmaster
but Im not quite convinced yet.
in the end, those are example why MidRange Hunter is the meta deck (with Mech Hunter),
rather than Aggro Beast Hunter.
but this is still quite good and its soooooooo cheap its handsome! :D
I subbed 1x Shimmerfly + 1x Revenge of the Wild for 1x Dire Frenzy + 1x Houndmaster but it feels like Shimmerfly slows down the deck at a detriment and makes the deck less consistent (playing between Rank 10 to 8), so I put the second Houndmaster back in.
I believe all those choices you just listed are pretty close in term of effectiveness in this deck,
swapping throught any of those i believe is more of a personal choice depending on your playstyle,
but I do feel that Houndmaster and Dire Frenzy are more fitting throught the <Aggro> playstyle than Shimmerfly,
as for Revenge of the Wild, sometime I feel like this card is freaking amazing and almost broken good,
and other time Im just staring at it sitting in my hand as a dead card that could have created a come back if it was something else.
in the end Id say that the general playstyle of this AGGRO Hunter deck should rely heavily in pro-active cards,
rather than <situational> or <reactive> cards.
thats why I slightly prefer Dire Frenzy and Houndmaster, over Shimmerfly and Revenge of the Wild.
I see. I've only had the opportunity to use Revenge of the Wild effectively once, and I think I still lost that game (also, thinking opportunity cost). Your explanation helps. I'm going to run the default list for a bit more.
what a deck!
Any expensive replacements?
I have Leroy and Zilliax, what cards could I replace them with if i should?
i think highmane can be replaced by Leeroy
Leeroy Jenkins definitely make sense in that deck,
I believe swapping with Savannah Highmane would most likely be best.
but I could see it replace Ironbeak Owl, Dire Frenzy or Houndmaster.
as for Zilliax, if it would be <Charge> instead of <Rush> I could see it fit...
but as it is, I dont think it would fit that well.
its clearly not bad, but is it best... unsure about that.
