A lot of people were bummed out when Paladin got hit by the Equality nerf...but when one deck falls, another will rise up! So I said, why even bother with spells at all?? And thus Spiteful Paladin was born! Paladin has many great tools at their disposal without the use of spells: plenty of lifesteal, great trading minions, and huge late game threats among others. This deck has been very successful for me lately so I wanted to share it with you guys! Full guide write-up below. I hope you all enjoy this deck :).
Strategy:
Against aggro/midrange (odd mage, odd pally, odd rogue, midrange hunter, even shaman): Board control, board control, board control! (did I say board control?) Our best minions to do this would be a 1 drop (Fire Fly or Righteous Protector) into hopefully Prince Keleseth or hero power, into Stonehill Defender or Paragon of Light into Corpsetaker or Truesilver Champion into Zilliax or Ghostly Charger. It is ok to take a bit of face damage when swinging your weapons or to use Glowstone Technician as long as you have taunt and/or lifesteal minions in your hand because with this deck we can gain a lot of life! Once we pass the midgame is usually pretty easy because we have so many huge minions, either buffed up by Glowstone Technician or just big bois like Spiteful Summoner, Stormwatcher, The Lich King or Ysera.
Against control/combo (any priest, cube/control warlock, any druid, big spell mage, odd warrior): Our early game minions (1-3) aren't really that important in these matchups so the MVP's here are going to be your constant big dudes turn after turn. Getting a Stonehill Defender or Corpsetaker on the board is a good way to kick things off and making a few trades is fine because starting on turn 6 we can drop big threats every turn which is hard to deal with for most decks. Glowstone Technician turns even our decently sized minions into threats our opponent has to deal with. Careful not to overextend vs these classes because they have a lot of board clears. Usually just laying 1 minion at a time is enough to keep pressuring them. Nerubian Unraveler is a great card to counter any priest deck and Mecha'thun decks so if you're facing combo be sure to hold onto him until the end. We don't have any card draw besides Lay on Hands because our minions pack so much value by themselves.
Mulligan:
Aggro/midrange: Fire Fly, Righteous Protector, Prince Keleseth, Paragon of Light, Corpsetaker, Truesilver Champion
Control/combo: Stonehill Defender, Corpsetaker, Truesilver Champion, Glowstone Technician, Nerubian Unraveler, Spiteful Summoner
Card Reasonings:
Paragon of Light: great stats for a 3-drop and can be buffed by Farraki Battleaxe, Prince Keleseth, Glowstone Technician, or Sunkeeper Tarim to get lifesteal and taunt!
Chillblade Champion: Lifesteal for Corpsetaker and when buffed up via Glowstone Technician or Farraki Battleaxe is a pseudo Leeroy Jenkins!
Ghostly Charger: Divine shield for Corpsetaker and trades incredibly well! Can be buffed up in your hand to make even bigger trades and be similar to a Vilespine Slayer!
Glowstone Technician: The secret MVP here! We have 25 minions in this deck so this card is guaranteed to give you tons of value! Increases your lifesteal/rush minions and big threats to be even harder to remove!
Stormwatcher: Windfury for Corpsetaker. Great to have windfury minions on board to be targets for Dinosize. Also a huge threat when buffed up!
Replacements:
Prince Keleseth> Vicious Scalehide, Hydrologist
Sunkeeper Tarim> Argent Commander

Two spells in a spiteful deck can easily misfire. You could be less greedy and add an Avenging Wrath for better synergy.
Is Silver Sword something we could add or do you think the cost is too high/or it doesn't fit?
There are already a lot of high mana cost cards in this deck so it would probably just weigh it down even more. And also, we are not usually flooding the board with many minions at a time to make use of the buff from Silver Sword so it probably isn't worth it.
Okay thanks! :) So far I'm having a ton of fun with this deck.
Don't waste your dust if don't have any cards. Every OTK or aggro will kill you with no problem.
Sorry you've been struggling! I typically don't have too much of a problem vs otk because of Nerubian Unraveler. Aggro is a bit tougher but definitely winnable if you stick to the mulligan guide. keep practicing and your matchups vs aggro and otk will get easier! And as long as you have fun is the important part :)
Well Met! I created a video showcasing this deck. I hope that you will enjoy it and learn something new. Thanks and cheers!
I really like this deck. I have been playing Even Paladin a lot and this deck has a similar feel, my only issue is Spiteful Summoner in this deck doesn't have the same impact as other decks cause this one can just play tempo with buffed minions and do great. Here are my thoughts on the deck and some gameplay to boot.
Great gameplay and example of the strengths of this deck! You're right though, Spiteful Summoner isn't as impactful as it would be if we had 10 mana cost spells, but on average it is still better than any other 7-drop as a good tempo play. This deck does still utilize the minion-heavy theme with cards like Glowstone Technician, Nerubian Unraveler, Prince Keleseth and Farraki Battleaxe so there are quite a few benefits to playing so few spells! I'm glad you had fun with this deck! :)
Wow, really fun deck. Went from legend 2500 to 1000 in about 10 games, probably about a 70% win rate. I added in an extra dinosize to hit spiteful more often and removed 1 glowstone (simply because I didn't have one). I also didn't include nerubian, since I don't have one and put in an extra spellbreaker.
Impressive! This deck really does surprise a lot of people! Those are all very reasonable changes. Dinosize is amazing if you can land it on a windfury minion but if not it's just really good anyway. Nerubian Unraveler is in this deck just for all the combo decks, so not necessary but definitely helps vs Mecha'thun decks and spell heavy control decks. Glad you like it! :)
so bad in legend only losses sry deletet
Solid deck Funkimonki! I like it.
Thanks! I'm glad you like it :)
Played a few games. Interesting idea, but with only two spells, I bricked in two games drawing them before I could play Spiteful. In another I low rolled a 5/5. All in all, the deck seems better without Spiteful. The only game I won was by hand buffing. Perhaps the bones are here for a solid midrange deck and maybe the meta is slow enough for you to play a 6 mana 3/4 that doesn't do anything immediate. Going to tinker and report back.
exactly the same. played 5 games now and 4/5 i get both spells in hand in early game, the 1/5 time i summed bone mare. i like the deck, and won a couple still. but frustrating when i got summoner ready to play turn 7 but nada to draw for it
As with any spiteful deck, sometimes that happens which is unfortunate :(. Spiteful Summoner is in this deck as just an above average 7 drop stat-wise. It's not meant to really swing turns or anything. Occasionally you'll get a really good 8 drop like The Lich King which is amazing. The other synergy with running all minions is just like how you said you won your other game, with Glowstone Technician. It gets a ton of value since this deck has 25 minions in it.
Once again a beautiful deck by Funki. Opponents will clearly not expect it and on top of it, this seems to be quite powerful on the ladder at the moment, I recommend this deck to anyone that wants to have a good time while climbing before the rotation!!
I made a video to showcase the deck in all of its glory, I really hope you all enjoy
