In the recent nerf Jaina got covered as well. You might not have noticed it but she looks a bit different compared to last week. Anyway our Rank #1 Legend friend Bongoman used not just Mechathun Warlock but also this deck for his climb to the top spot. He is #3 as of writing this and I thought you might enjoy this deck as well. As I am new to this deck there is no long guide or explanations besides the basics, enjoy :)
General Strategy
We throw Fireball & Frostbolt in their face, but besides that we can surprise the opponent with different secrets and mess up their play style by playing the mind games. A well timed Duplicate might make all the differences when you can follow up with 2x 0 Mana Kabal Crystal Runner and some spells. If those evil Priests put an Obsidian Statue onto the board we can make it a boar with Polymorph Boar or use it as a safe Huffer for us
Replacements
As I personally only got 1 copy of Iceblock and no Stargazer Luna I substituted both with 2x Flamewaker as it can also go face and has synergy with basically every single card in this list
Aluneth - I crafted the weapon just for this deck and I gotta say that it is your win condition against slower decks. The continues pressure it provides is on of its kind but a Coldlight Oracle ore even Jeeves might fit the list instead of it
As all other cards are either Rare, Common or Basic I wouldn´t recommend replacing too many of them. The Secrets can obviously be interchanged and a Mirror Entity might be way better than Counterspell if you only face Warlock as an example. Besides that feel free to include tech cards like Acidic Swamp Ooze & Tinkmaster Overspark if your match ups require them. All in all the core function of this deck sticks to "throw spells in their face" so apart from that you should be good with any card choices you make
*Great Guide!!!!* Thanks guys, appreciate it!
If you got any questions feel free to ask them either on stream or in the comments down below, I´ll be happy to answer and discuss the card choices!
And Big Thanks to Tommy Wave for his Video about this deck!
It's all good, dude. I'm pretty sure every single person on this website has experienced the same anger at least a dozen times, so we understand the need to channel that rage somewhere, and blaming the deck is a logical first thought. But at least you actually came back and apologized like an adult, which most people wouldn't have. Good luck with the deck, may the RNG be in your favor ;-)
wow. +1 for your class response. respectful and patient. it's rare to see on the internet these days.
Why no Glyph?
There are way too many spells in wild to make it consistent. There are even more than 10 secrets from which half of them suck :/ But sure try it out!
I just faced (three times in a row) a warlock with Eater of Secrets, Kezan Mystic and all heals he could find. I suppose he was losing to a bunch of burn mages that day! Thanks to you guys probably.
Fells Bad Man :p
Thanks for sharing
:)
This is a very good deck, but yesterday it wasn´t the day of this deck. I beat this with my C´Thun Priest third times, giving my opponent no chance...
When I played it yesterday I faced 5/6 Warlocks, lets just say it wasn´t the hardest match up :)
Hi!First of all I want to thank you for writing this, as I love Mage and had all cards for this list, except for the x2 Flamewakers that I crafted because I saw first your video and didnt notice what you said at start. Do you think it's better without them? (I do have x2 Ice block and Luna) Do you think I'll play somewhere in the future the Flamewakers?
Flamewaker used to be a 2x off in basically every aggro mage for years and is definitely viable in the future. If you do have all the cards from this list I would recommend using them as Luna can carry your game and an additional Iceblock might result in you dealing 10+ damage over the next turn
Double ice block just helped me against a big priest ... he pulled Rag from barns on turn 4 and I kept hitting his face. 2x countered his 6 mana pull a 5/5 from your deck, polymorphed his obsidian statue on last turn for the victory :D
