My take on Reno Mage for after the nerfs.
Important things to note :
1-Against Big Priest, play Potion of Polymorph t5 or t6 and higher ,as the only thing you will polymorph before that is Barnes, which already is a very bad resurrect pull .
2-target single-copy minions most of the time with polymorph spells,and here is an example :
Opponent plays Shadow Essence t6 & gets a copy ,don't polymorph it if it is non-dangerous (Barnes or Obsidian Statue) and do polymorph it if is a Rag or LK ,but the most important polymorph targets are legendary minions played from hand with no other copies generated of them using Barnes or Shadow Essence .
3-Brann has multiple uses which include :
Getting 2 Kazakus Spells.
Getting 2 Rags from Jan'alai.
Going infinte with Zola and BB for fatigue matches.
Pulling 2 minions with Dörty Rat.
Etc.
4-Aim for more Polymorph effects with Kazakus, especially against Big Priest, Renolock and Deathrattle-based decks .
5-don't be too much of a value-squeezer ,just make sure to survive for next 3 turns .
Enjoy .
Latest edits :
Swapped MCT for Tinkmaster Overspark as the second is more versatile and more likely to come in handy (big magnetized mech, vicious fledgling, potential to add squirrel to Big Priests res pool) .
Removed the Research Project for a Hex Lord Malacrass, since the deck is filled with singletons and you almost always have something to deal with what is being played by the opponent and thus don't need card draw .
Hex Lord Malacrass is for :
1-additional value (2nd Kazakus, 2nd Dragoncaller, 2nd N'Zoth..etc)
2-ability to go infinite with Baleful Banker if you get the latter in your opening hand which allows you to use Zola & Brann without worrying about the infinite anti-fatigue plan.
Minion Replacements :
Tinkmaster Overspark --> Mind Control Tech
Dragoncaller Alanna --> Medivh
Sindragosa --> Dr.Boom
Jan'alai --> Ragnaros or Lich King
Hex Lord Malacrass --> more card draw (Research Project)
Pyros --> Mad Scientist
Stonehill Defender,Glacial Shard and Baron Geddon are good choices in place of nearly anything you don't have from epics,rares and commons.
Really love the deck, great design! I was trying all sorts of Reno Mage myself, but couldn't come up with good value for minion choice.
Thanks, glad you liked it !
Any room for Arcanologist? (Was about to suggest Mad Scientist, until I realized that your guide recommended careful timing on when to play Potion of Polymorph, which won’t reliably happen due to Mad Scientist’s randomness.)
And while I appreciate that this overall list is mindful of the upcoming Big Priest flood, I still think we could use a little more card drawing/thinning for more consistency.
So I added Research Project for card draw in the place of Saronite Taskmaster, since it isn't that important as a Big Priest counter and most likely a useless 1 mana drop later on .
Reasons for including Research Project :
1-Draws 2 cards instead of one giving you the Big Spell you needed or Reno himself maybe in the second top-deck .
2-has a chance of milling your opponent (1-3 cards) if he has 8+ cards in hand .
3-keeps you on par with your opponent in fatigue matches .
4-Isn't specific in it's draw for when you have already drawn the 2 secrets .
5-cheaper than Coldlight Oracle, allowing for a turn 7 RP+Dragon's Fury or turn 8 RP+Blizzard, and can't be Punished by Mill Rogues with Gang Up (although you might not want to draw at all in that matchup).
