Come in and Warm your Frozen Boots by the Fire!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gunnolf, and I am originally from the Land Down Under a.k.a. Australia. I am an avid gamer that has acquired a real passion for card games, which originated from my humble beginnings as a Yu-Gi-Oh collector and eventually grew from my dabbling in Cardfight Vanguard and Buddyfight, until we reached the game we know as Hearthstone.

I've played Hearthstone since the days of classic, with multiple accounts on both EU and NA servers. Despite having reached the Rank of Legend and my own personal mentality of equating 'having fun' with 'winning', I am not really a fan of meta power-grinding & net-decking, not that there is anything wrong with that. Therefore, I enjoy thinking about new, cool and fun deck ideas that push boundaries while also allowing you to win and those are what I want to share with you guys every-time I post a decklist.

I have presently become a contributing writer to WILDHS and Vicious Syndicate will be posting articles there on a semi-regular basis, regarding deck-archetypes the status of the meta as well as how to get the most fun out of this game even if you aren't a big spender. If any of this sounds interesting, then I highly recommend that you check out of the websites, as the writers and the owner himself are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet with great in-game knowledge (link to be websites can be found HERE). You can also follow me on Twitter for latest updates.

If you genuinely like my content and would like to see me produce more of it, then please consider supporting me on Patreon. This is by no means necessary but it will definitely help me out in the long run. Thanks for Reading ^^

Deck Introduction

Hey guys, I'm back with a brand-new deck that's a direct result of a Twitter poll I put out a few days ago. I have always been a huge fan of Inner Fire Priest, especially due to the fact that I can run Lyra the Sunshard. However, sadly there is no room for her in my dragon list. With that being said, it's a great variant of combo priest. It works slightly like a tempo/curvestone deck in so far as you look to dominate the board early while fishing for your combo pieces. Also do keep in mind that even if you don't draw your early game or even lose the board, you have have two come from behind mechanics in the form of Duskbreaker and Twilight Acolyte. Without anymore ado though, let's get into the details.

Card Choices and Deck-building Explained

As always, let's have a look at the significance of some cards. I will explain some of the card choices I opted for and the reasoning as to why they were included over potential counter-parts.

1) Potion of Madness: Great anti-aggro card that also doubles as a combo piece with Twilight Acolyte for a surprise lethal with Inner Fire.

2) Twilight Acolyte: One of the stronger cards in my personal opinion that can neuter high stated minions like Flamewreathed Faceless.

3) Duskbreaker: This should be an obvious one, given how extremely powerful the card is. However, it is even more crucial to this deck as we do not run additional board clears.

4) Velen's Chosen: Even though we can't utilise the spell damage buff organically due to the lack of damage spells and board clears, the stats it can provide are extremely prevalent for the combo as well as pushing damage and maintaining board control.

(At the present time, only a few cards have been listed but I will include more if questions pop-up within the comments section regarding substitutions and why other cards were included.)

Meta Techs & Additional Card Options

The list at hand is very tight. However, if you want to go a different way, here are some potentially substitutions you may want to look into. These might be more prevalent in particular pocket metas

-1x Potion of Madness | +1x Silence: Most relevant against cubelock or renolock if they get lucky early on and are bale to drop Voidlord or another large taunt.

-2x Twilight Acolyte | +2x deathlordlord: Not a recommended change but but it provides some anti-combo tech and falls in the line of traditional combo priest with very high health minions for early combos.

-1x Twilight Acolyte| +1x Stormwind Knight: I have had mixed results with this tech. When it works, it works and the surprise 20 damage burst from nowhere is nice.

(Let me know if you have any other cards to recommend in terms of teching against the meta so that I may include them for the benefit of others.)

Play-style & Win Conditions

So as mentioned above, the deck incorporates a mix of play-styles. While the Inner Fire combo seems to be the main focus of the list at hand, ideally you want to be ahead on board and dealing chip damage to your opponent as quickly as possible in order to lower the damage output required from the combo. Essentially, it works as a midrange deck first with a combo finisher.

With all this in mind, it is imperative that you start fishing for your early game as quickly as possible. While keeping a lategame dragon in hand is certainly tempting in the eventuality that you get a dragon activator, it's not always recommended if you have to mulligan everything else away hoping for an early play.

Other Gunnolf Decks

Heya guys, as always if you liked this deck, maybe you'll like some other ones I've made in the past. One of my personal favourites is "Steal Your Win Condition" Dragon Priest. While is was more prevalent back when Cueblock was a menace, you will definitely enjoy the way it butchers Big Priest! ^^

Author's Notes

This class really didn't get anything from Rastakhan unlike it's warrior counterpart. However, even so I felt it was worth revisiting since decks fluctuate depending on the meta. All I can say, is that it is really fun to play and definitely provides a solid alternatively playstyle to the Inner Fire combo traditional lists

I enjoy deck-building a multitude of interesting decks that are both entertaining and Legend viable (with some odd Free-to-Play lists mixed in). So if you like this deck (or anyone of my other ones) consider leaving a thumbs up, as it really helps in the long run! :)

Thank you guys for all your support and if you have any suggestions, let me know.
