FOREWORDS
I'm a casual player and I can spend only few hours of play per week. So I'm lookin for Fun and competitive decks to play with and I usually play my own meme decks.
This deck is my own take on the Mecha'thun archetype. I used to play the fast cycle version of the deck with poor results, due to the fact that aggro deck rules on current the wild ladder.
Then I decided to switch for a controlish version of the deck. I've made the choice to adapt the shell of a classic renolock by adding the combo pieces and more aoe... that's all.
When I started to play this decklist the 8th of January, I do not expect such results and winrate. This deck is a metabreaker.
Because I think that this build can fit other players playstyle, and because I find this deck really interesting to play in the current meta, I've decided to share it.
Before that, I want to share some thoughts and insights.
- First of all, this deck is not really difficult to master... but you have to well know the metagame especially during the mulligan phase...
- This is an attrition / control deck with a Mecha'thun combo package as a main Win Condition.
- You can win without playing the combo.
- Games are usually long and slow. Most of the time you need 10+ turns to achieve victory. So, you need to like slow/grind type of deck.
- That being said, this deck is really consistent vs any deck that compose the actual metagame in wild. If you can manage to survive during the first 5/6 turns, you will be pretty sure to win the game. No matchup is unwinnable.
- Finally, this deck is really interesting and fun to play. At least, you have to give it a try!
HOW TO PLAY?
Early Game
- Draw cards, play on curve.
- Try to minimize damage.
- Make efficient trades.
- Try to be efficient with your AoE
Mid Game
- Play high value minions.
- As soon as you have Bloodbloom, play Hemet, Jungle Hunter,
- As soon as you have combo pieces, play Emperor Thaurissan.
- Try to stabilise your life point.
Late Game
- Play discounted Bloodbloom, Mecha'thun and then Cataclysm! and...
- ... Achieve victory.
MULLIGAN GUIDE
- Mulligan for early drops, heal and aoe.
- If you have The Coin and some few early drops you must keep Hemet, Jungle Hunter and cards like Emperor Thaurissan.
ABOUT THE COMBO
The combo is really simple.
- You must have at least Bloodbloom and Mecha'thun in hand. (Cataclysm is a plus but not mandatory.
- You have to play Emperor Thaurissan so you can discount combo pieces. (so the total cost of playing both Bloodboom and Mecha'thun in the same turn is 10 (12 minus 2)
- At turn 10+ when your deckpile is empty you just have to play: Mecha'thun followed by Bloodboom and Cataclysm.
ABOUT CARDS
About Hemet...
Apart from Emperor Thaurissan who enables the combo by discounting cards, Hemet, Jungle Hunter is the OP card of the deck. If you have Bloodbloom in hand and play Hemet, Jungle Hunter on turn 6, you will usually win the game.
And what about The Soularium?...
By taking a closer look at the list, you will certainly notice that I do not play The Soularium. A lot of players consider that it is an auto include in Mecha'thun combo warlock. This is not my case...
In fact, it really depends on which type of Mecha'thun lock you are playing. For sure, The Soularium is really a great card for the cycling version of the deck. I'm more doubtful about the inclusion of The Soularium in the controlish decklist i'm playing.
The Soularium was in the early version of the deck. I quickly realised that most of the time, it was a dead card in my hand... so I removed it for another Area of Effect card: the powerful Demonwrath who do wonders in this aggro metagame.
TIPS
- As soon as you have Bloodboom in hand you must play Hemet, Jungle Hunter on turn 6. Playing Hemet, Jungle Hunter on curve is most of the time a game win. (unless you are in a very bad position) This is why it's acceptable to keep both of those cards during the mulligan if you have them in hand, especially if you have the coin.
- Beware of the you must have at least 5 lifepoint when playing the combo or 4 if Cataclysm is discounted.
- Beware of the board state and pop effect... Playing he combo with Voidlord on board is not a good idea... because of the 3 Voidwalker that will pop. Better to sacrifice Voidlord then play the combo...
WINRATE, STATS & REPLAYS
I started to play the deck at rank10* the 8th January.
I'm now at rank 4*** and I have a recorded history of 27w9l (75% of WR) with it.Achieved Rank 3 with a 30w / 9l (75+% of Winrate).- Achieved Rank 2** with a 47w / 20l (70+% of Winrate)

Replays
Some replays vs a lot of different deck type. With them you can easily understand how the deck wins and how to handle most of the decks that compose the actual metagame.
Nota Bene: even Shaman is over-represented because I faced a lot of them. By the way, this is an easy matchup...

Thanks.
I recently got into wild after missing a lot of the cards that rotated out of standard (LOE especially). This was one of my first wild decks I made. I am 6-0 at rank 16. It's definitely one of the most fun decks I've played in a long time. Thanks for the decklist PopBot and keep up the great work!
Thanks for the kind words!
Have Fun and Good Games!
Offtopic:
Keep up the positive attitude, Popbot !
And good luck with getting legend
Oh thanks for this off topic comment! :) I will. For sure, I will.
For getting legend, I need some, I guess. So thank you very much.
HF & GG!
Thanks for sharing. The deck is fun to play.
I've just switched Golakka Crawler for Gnomferatu .
Yeah! Have done the same.
Need to update de decklist!
HF & GG!
EZ Rank 2 in wild just doesn't sound right to me...
For me it was easy. From 10* to 4*** it took me less than 40 games.
What do you mean?
HF & GG!
Doesn't matter what I mean.. :)
I tried a similar deck in wild legend and it's actually not so bad. Aggro is still a problem though. Combo decks that draw faster are also a problem.
Anyway, fun deck. Its worth trying
Okay. Anyway as you said! :)
Indeed, fun deck...
So, HF & GG
Can't wait to try this out, but I'm guessing your WR against priest (mostly big priest) is probably about 30-35% like most Reno lists.
You are right. Big Priest is not a good matchup. As you said, as with most reno build, this one struggle against them. The point is that most of the decks struggle against them. Chain ressurecting a cheated big minion drop by Barnes on turn 3 or 4 overvalue every deck unless they have a poor starting hand.
HF & GG
i run a version without hemet, but more value cards like Mal'Ganis Sylvanas Windrunner and N'Zoth, the Corruptor
plus a really crasy combo with Brann Bronzebeard, Gnomeferatu and Zola the Gorgon, which can also be comboed with Antique Healbot or Kazakus
since i enjoy reno locks really much, i´d like to hear your opinion about it
(have not found a place for ziliax yet)

I will for sure, but it will be possible only this week end because I'm quite busy actually.
Thanks for the list!
HF & GG
I mean it's just worse, you're running a watered down Reno Lock. If you wanna play the MechaThun package you don't need late game value at all
Cool deck tho
thats true! i just dont know which one has the better win ratio ^^
EDIT: AND a reno lock can win without the combo, when something gets burned... for the mech´thun list thats VERY hard
Yeah the main concern is the combo burning. Not a good deck when you face a lot of mill rogue. But in fact there are no decks (combo and/or control) that are able to handle mill rogue or decks that burn card effectively...
The good point actually is that on EU ladder I face a lot of Even Shaman and Odd Rogue.Even shaman is not simple but I have a positive wr against them and Odd Warrior is an autowin unless they do not run the mill package. (Which is extremely rare at the moment...)
HF & GG!
Any room for DOOM! in this list?
Sorry, but I do not know.
I've never tested the list with DOOM!.
Perhaps you can remove a card like Corrupting Mist or Darkbomb. But the deck will be weaker vs aggro, for sure.
In fact, I'm not really sure DOOM! will have a positive impact.
HF & GG
Somehow i am always unlucky and my mechathun gets pulled by dirty rat or deathlord
