Shout out to Tommy Wave for the video. Thanks.
Captain Greenskin welcomes you aboard as part of his Tempo Crew. You will be part of the Raiding Party with your fellow Dread Corsair's guarding the flanks, or with the Southsea Deckhand's with trusty Shadowblade in hand.
(we picked up those Shadowblade's from a goblin who claims to have survived the scourge, they're supposed to protect the user from taking damage, but it only works once... I guess we will have ta get one of the grunts to try it out, hahahaha)
or maybe you'd prefer to lend support to the Hench-Clan Thug's who can help us secure the middle ground? These guys are no joke. (if there's weapons being swung, you can guarantee these guys to put in the work mid game. I tell ya, worth every penny)
Edwin VanCleef leads the attack on the flanks, using such tools as Fan of Knives and Preparation, while the Fire Fly's lend a hand with Backstab so Edwin VanCleef can land the Eviscerate
(Fan of Knives is great against those pesky paladin's, just let Edwin VanCleef do his thing, I swear his backstabbing roguery could put a Goblin to shame. a little of this, a dash of that and then it's "BAAAAM" ... before you know it's bye, bye teeth as he hits you in the face for 10 damage. He's absolutely invaluable to the set up)
While Edwin VanCleef utilizes subterfuge to clear the way, hoping to land a juicy 10 damage to the face himself, Leeroy Jenkins is blindly rushing forward with chicken fuelled focus and total disregard for the Fal'dorei Strider who's job is to set up spider ambushes for when Captain Greenskin unleashes his ultimate weapon, Myra's Unstable Element.
Stolen from the labs of Dr. Boom himself and the prize possession of our fearless leader.
(ahh, my precious... ahem I mean look at this here trinket what I boosted from Dr. Boom, ha ha. We was in school together, I never liked him much.
Anyway, this beautiful treasure has the power rip apart the fabric of the space time continuum and pull in trinkets from other alternate dimensions or something like that.
It's supposed to be extremely dangerous, but all I know is this thing lends crazy tempo to an attack and more often than not is the perfect final nail in your enemies coffin)
Captain Greenskin will use Myra's Unstable Element for that last bit of reach needed, finding some kind of trinket for Leeroy Jenkins to find that final blow... ahhh Cold Blood this will do nicely.
(Leeroy Jenkins totally a loose cannon. but every crew needs a wild card, right? just don't leave any eggs lying around as he has a tendency to break them.. as crazy as the guy is, I find he is perfect to land the killing blow. You just need to keep him off the battlefield until you're ready to close up and smorc shop)
now just to Sap this last guy so Leeroy Jenkins can take the Cold Blood and go face for lethal.
So that's the plan kid, what do ya say.. you in?
Here is a more ladder friendly version of the deck I just whipped up. (well it should yield a higher winrate if anyone is having trouble with the pirate version. I swear the pirate one is good, it just is a bit harder to play and relies on RNG a lot more than this list)
It's just the first draft, but I took out all the pirate stuff.
If you don't like unstable, just change it for sprint. I also just put walk the plank in there as some extra removal. think of it as a tech slot for whatever you like.
This version should do a lot better on ladder. please feel free to brainstorm with me and try and make the deck the best it can be. thanks for all your feedback, it's appreciated.
What rank do you play this? I'm at rank 17 and I have a 10% win rate after 10 games. The only game I won is when I had VanCleef + Prep + Raiding Party + Backstab + Coin in the starting hand
j alexander got it to legend. it might take a bit of practice. (I've only been playing it at low ranks so far mate. a lot of people have had success with it though at legend rank.)
I advise you check out his vods mate. it's probably the best source of info. he also wrote a reddit guide. look for J_Alexander_HS
I can try and add one to the guide, I will have to ask him though.
I find this deck very random. It's either you have a lucky draw with VanCleef at the beggining and Myra's before turn like 8 or 9 or you fail to finish the opponent because your minions have been cleared and you don't have anything else to do except to wait for Myra's.
Nice deck idea though
you need to try and use the pirates efficiently for tempo and mid game.
if you have a shadowblade and buff it with greenskin for instance the corsairs are free.
it might help to check out some of j Alexanders vods and watch him play it.
he even said you can get stuck in a sort of 50/50 win state where you win and loose the same amount of games. this was at legend though.
if you want to ladder, odd paladin with liam is good. I'm playing that myself as well.
normal miracle rogue is far too slow. you'd get rolled over. (also this isn't miracle rogue, it's tempo rogue)
myra's is there to help with that issue. if you don't draw it in time then better luck next time.
this isn't a high winrate ladder deck.
like I mentioned above. check out j alexanders vods and reddit guide for more info.
This isn't an aggro ladder deck that is fool proof. you have to really think about what you're doing. (in that aspect it is more like miracle rogue)
I seriously recommend you watch Jay play the deck, he's an amazing rogue player.
PS: are you guys trying to get free corsairs? that's the gameplan every time. get free corsairs, smorc face. myra's into cold blood or evis or something and win.
if you aren't trying to do that you probably won't win.
if you aren't facing a lot of odd paladin then you can replace it with anything you deem fit really.
if you think about what the card does for the deck, it is removal plus draw.
so you might want something with draw or a way to get more cards, blink fox could fill this roll.
The best thing to take would probably be a good tempo player though like SI:7 or Vicious Fledgling.
You could replace it with pretty much any tempo based card or a card that gives you extra cards/draws cards. (as long as it's not slow, so cards like gadgetzan auctioneer are a bad choice here. you could even add gnomish inventor for another early drop and extra draw, or cut throat buccaneer for extra pirate synergy and weapon damage)
if you have zilliax you could add that though and then add like 1 blink fox or 1 SI:7 or something.
will look into it mate, I can't remember what the card does off the top of my head. (i'm writing the guide for another deck so will get back to you soon)
it looks Ok, maybe a little slow. it might be good for making the player choose between oozing and clearing or something though. if you have the card you could try it, no harm.
also if you are having issues drawing, the deck can be changed.
I got so caught up in writing the story that I forget to actually give some proper advice as well.
you could always remove all the pirates and then insert a more classic tempo package in there instead. so you have you SI's, Minstrels, Viscous etc.
this way it's not partially reliant on the proper usage of the weapon and the pirates package. if the pirates aren't played in conjunction with the weapon correctly it will basically nullify the point of them, so therefore having a more standard tempo rogue with miracle elements would be better.
I can build something if you want mate and share it. I was playing something like this just before Boomsday so can make it off the top of my head.
I will make something and get back to you.
sorry if I seemed like I was being a dick or anything. it's just I know this deck can perform well, you just have to play it a certain way.
It looks evil.
ha ha. it's a crazy pirate captain with a more than capable crew, being chased by dr. boom for stealing the unstable element.
I don't know about "evil" but it gets the job done.
Is Strider core? Any replacements for it since I don't want to craft 2 epics from a rotating expansion.
you can replace, dude. just add something like viscous fledgling, SI:7 or blink fox etc. any kind of tempo tool will do mate. faldorei is not key to the deck so you're good.
maybe even add zilliax even if you have as the card works well in this deck. 1 x zilliax and 1 x fledgling or something could be cool.
You can also consider buccaneer for it's +1 weapon damage and further pirate synergy, but I don't think it;s needed if you have greenskin.
life drinker might be good actually as healing is decent.
have you tried the interaction with spirit of the shark? it's like a face-seeking fireball with lifesteal.
PS: did you have any luck with that grave shambler? I haven't had a chance to check the card yet. I will look it up now while I remember.
just put Cutthroat Buccaneer or something to buff ur weapon
the cuthroat buccaneer can lend a hand, but I also hear of a strange metal captain that works for Boom. he'd probably be willing to lease one of it's clones to you for a fair price. goes by the name "Zilliax"
I've been playing this since I saw it on reddit a few days ago. The deck is super nice. It's my favorite tempo rogue from year of the raven. Stuff like keleseth/corpsetaker is too highrolly and can give you unfun garbage hands.
This deck can run out of gas really quick with bad draws but if you have good draws it feels like you have gas for days. Excellent tempo and a lot of burn. Lots of cool synergies.
it is nice isn't it. feels fair as well. (well most of the time, ha ha)
Do you have a deck code for this? Perhaps you have a deck where it doesn't have Captain Greenskin (I don't have that card)?
greenskin is good to have if you have the dust. zilliax is the best replacement though in any rogue deck that has him really, it will only really hurt decks that maximise on the weapon buff like kingsbane or burgle with the spectral cutlass.
you can easy replace greenskin with another pirate that gives a weapons buff though as the main thing is that you're discounting the corsair to zero. GS is just one of those quality of life cards as it;s a decent body and it gives a buff to both weapon damage and gives you an extra charge as well.
I have a friend who plays the exact same list but just uses zilliax instead of greenskin and says it's great.
