Mulligans
General
Always keep Backstab (it does not need to be discussed 😊 ). Prince Keleseth because the sooner you buff your deck the better. Fire Fly is also a good keep as it is your the only 1 mana drop. Hench-Clan Thug is a really good 3 mana drop while you got your weapon equipped.
With Coin SI:7 Agent to kill enemy’s 1 and 2 mana drops. Elven Minstrel to draw early.
Perfect opening hand is with Fire Fly, Prince Keleseth and Shadowstep.
vs Aggro
You don’t want them to dominate the early game so always keep Backstab, Fire Fly, Prince Keleseth, Fan of Knives and sometimes it is good to keep Saronite Chain Gang to protect yourselves from enemies rushing in your face.
You can also keep Edwin VanCleef or SI:7 Agent if you have Backstab or Coin to take an advantage in the early game.
vs Hunters !ALWAYS KEEP! Chief Inspector, because there is nothing more savage than playing it when the enemy has 3 or more secrets on the table 😉 .
vs Control
You want to play really aggressively in early to leave the opponent on low HP, before he draws his defence and then finish him with Leeroy Jenkins and Cold Blood.
Keep Prince Keleseth, Fire Fly, Hench-Clan Thug, Cold Blood to dominate early.
It is good to keep Elven Minstrel when you got Backstab or Coin to strengthen your hand.
vs Warlock: If you got good early in opening hand you can also keep Vilespine Slayer to prevent him from taking advantage playing Mountain Giant early.
Replacements and Cores
Cores:
Prince Keleseth is an absolute core in this deck as it buffs pretty well with Shadowstep and Spirit of the Shark and gives a lot of value.
The archetype of the deck describes another core: Spirit of the Shark which works pretty well with other cards ( Fungalmancer buff +4/+4 is pretty awesome :) ).
I would rather not advise you to replace Edwin VanCleef as it is a real problem for your opponent when you play it with Spirit of the Shark.
Replacements:
Gral, the Shark is not a necessity in this deck as it can be silenced, polymorphed, hexed or sapped and you will lose 1 or 2 minions. The better choice is Sonya Shadowdancer as it gives a lot of value ( Saronite Chain Gang 1/1 summons the 2/3 because of the latest 'nerf' ).
Leeroy Jenkins can possibly be replaced with Reckless Rocketeer but have in mind you would not be able to use the combo charge + Cold Blood + Shadowstep + charge as it will cost you 11 mana instead of 8 when you play Leeroy Jenkins
If you don't face many hunters you can replace Chief Inspector with any card that would work with the deck archetype.
Zilliax is not a core but it helps you survive as it is your the only heal. Works really well with Cold Blood. But as survival, you can replace it with Bonemare.
Instead of Seaforium Bomber you can try Gurubashi Hypemon for more value :)
kiwiinbacon has made a wonderful video showing how the deck works and how he wins some games with it. I am encouraging you guys to check his YT channel :)
Also user named Khristophesaurus Dinosaurus made a YT video playing this deck :)
Amazing hey....look at the deck and put in a heal. Rogue lacks heals pretty obvious when you are playing hunters all day. I just play odd rogue and beat them anyway this deck makes games take too long and wastes time
You just cannot win when everyone has two dustbreakers, reckless fury, 2 secrets + spellstone.. But I still like this deck (y)
At rank 5 I haven't been able to win a single match with this deck, it's just way too slow.
Even when I get Keleseth in my opening hand, most of the deck has a 5 mana cost, and I just end up hitting face with my dagger and clicking on end turn. By turn 5 I have 10 health and the enemy has 4 minions on the board.
It may be fun to play but it needs more balancing.
I have climbed from 5 to 3 but playing:
- Gral, the Shark, Chief Inspector, Seaforium Bomber
+Sonya Shadowdancer, Mojomaster Zihi, Lifedrinker
I wonder if there is any room for Valeera the Hollow?
Lifedrinker probably
Playing it currently with: -1 Gral, the Shark +1 Sonya Shadowdancer -1 Chief Inspector +1 Lifedrinker -1 Seaforium Bomber +1 Gurubashi Hypemon with decent results (rank 9).
nice job on adding Lifedrinker
- gral the shark, + corpsetaker more heal!
corspetakers would be good for synergy with zilliax, but lifedrinkers are another good option. they are a cheaper card to craft as well for anyone who doesn't have life drinkers.
someone in the comments argued a good point for them.
I must admit though I do feel zilliax is wasted a bit as there is no mech synergy for him, so him activating all the buffs on the corpse takers would be a pretty decent 2nd purpose for zilliax. I'm just not sure how the corpsetakers work 100% as not used them before.
I mean can they brick on you if you draw the wrong thing, or do cards in your hand and deck count toward their buffs?
EDIT
- Gral, the Shark - Chief Inspector (as I don't meet many hunters) + Sonya Shadowdancer + Mojomaster Zihi
Thanks guys for the feedback letting me bring some improvements :)
ive made wild version of it with rag and lich king( no darkness)at launch. have been modifying but results are meh.
Shouldn't you play big minions with Gral? What's the point play a 0/3 shrine for 4 mana and lose a lot of tempo, only to get a 6/6 for 5 mana that sits dormant for a turn?
Good point, but the value you can get against slow control matchups is ridiculous.
This deck is real fun, I can beat control decks easily but I have a very hard time vs aggro.
get rekted so badly vs aggro bcoz of unable to mulligan the cards i need, may I know about the win rate at r5~10?
thx for sharing tho :)
I would change Seaforium Bomber and Gral, the Shark for 2 x Lifedrinker any time.
For those down-voting my comment: you don't seem to understand the power of playing Lifedrinker with Spirit of the Shark on the board. You are basically casting a Fireball with lifesteal to your opponent's face while leaving a 3/3 minion on the board. If you happen to have Shadowstep, you can cast another Fireball with lifesteal.
Since this decks plans to burst his enemies with cards like Leeroy Jenkins and Fungalmancer, Lifedrinker fits better in that gameplan than Seaforium Bomber which doesn't instantly deal damage. I prefer do deal 6 damage THIS turn, than dealing 5, and then 5 damage in a uncertain future turn.
Seeing as how all the cards in this deck are 5 and below, what about a Mojomaster Zihi to keep the mana fight against control lower? Prevents them from doing higher turn stuff.
I agree here. I think that will have a higher impact that playing Seaforium Bomber
The idea sounds very good. What should i cut to fit Zihi in this deck? I will craft it.
