Primary way to pull off the combo:
Secondary way to pull off the combo:
Introduction
You thought, there will be no more broken infinite combo decks after the recent nerfs? Well, oops! Meet Da Undatakah! The taunt minion, which cannot leave the board. Whenever it dies, it shuffles into your deck and immediately gets back with full health. Let me explain:
How it works
The card 'Immortal Prelate' says: "Deathrattle: Shuffle this into your deck. It keeps any enchantments." Actually, it keeps not just enchantments, but any buff, debuff or any other effect, including acquired deathrattles. Da Undatakah can get a deathrattle from Immortal Prelate, and it will work the same way. The trick is to get this deathrattle + deathrattle to bring Da Undatakah back from the deck. 'Bring back' effect can be achieved from Silver Vanguard or Meat Wagon (but you have to buff Attack value of Da Undatakah to make Meat Wagon's deathrattle work properly). This way, Da Undatakah will become 'immortal'! Just give it Taunt, and enemies will not be able to reach your face anymore.
This combo in Trolden's video (3:45)
General Strategy
The main course of the deck is to push the board with decent treats, while slowly go towards the combo (Shudderwock style). But, unlike Shudderwock, combo can be ruined by poor acting much easier. Someone in the comments on the video above says this deck is a "maneuvering nightmare". And it's goddamn true! You should always keep in mind the pool of your dead deathrattle minions. This deck cannot be autopiloted! Also, try to bait out opponents's silences.
Combo plan:
- Let Immortal Prelate die on your side of the board. This is mandatory step. Be carefull, don't let it die 3 times before Da Undatakah! (More precisely, ensure, that there will not be any group of 3 deathrattles from the pool without 'bring back' effect).
- Let Silver Vanguard or Meat Wagon die. It's OK to let it die even before Immortal Prelate.
- (plan A) Silver Vanguard. Draw Da Undatakah into your hand before playing Silver Vanguard. You really don't want to pull Da Undatakah before he gains it's deathrattles. In extreme, very risky case, you can hope to pull it & copy empty Da Undatakah using Zola the Gorgon next turn.
- (plan B) Meat Wagon. This is way more tricky. Meat Wagon will probably pull out the Mechano-Egg, so consider it may fall into deathrattle pool too. Also, Da Undatakah will pull itself using Meat Wagon's deathrattle only while having buffed Attack. Even harder, it is not guaranteed to pull itself if you have any other minion still in the deck. But most important, DO NOT BUFF MEATWAGON IF THE COMBO PIECES ARE STILL IN THE DECK! Also, you do not want to recruit 1/1 Lynessa Sunsorrow;
- Play Da Undatakah. There is no need to play Sunfury Protector on the same turn, you can do it later. The main pitfall is the order of gaining deathrattles. It determined randomly during battlecry phase. If 'bring back' deathrattleis acquired before any 'shuffle' deathrattle, Da Undatakah will not pull out himself back. But this is not the end! You just need to draw it and play from hand one more time. Second time he will get new 3 deathrattles on top of the old 3! That guarantees a 'resummon' effect.
- Give Da Undatakah Taunt. And buff it, if on 'Meatwagon' plan.
Replacements & Variations
Combo consists of only 4 cards (1xImmortal Prelate, 1xSilver Vanguard, Da Undatakah, 1xSunfury Protector). This group can be included in every non-aggressive deck. Any other card from this list is unnecessary.
I tried a number of recipies, this particular deck is 15'th iteration. Currently it lacks protection from burn, so consider including Uther of the Ebon Blade, Flash of Light, Truesilver Champion or even Kobold Monk.
One close cut is Faceless Manipulator. It is one more way around 'wrong order' effect (Undatakahs will pull out one another), and also a protection from 1 silence effect.
You may love one of the following builds:
Straight Combo
Are you familiar with 'TTK Shirvallah' deck? With every single control card from Paladin class? Just remove 4 cards, put combo pieces inside, and here you go. You may even keep Shirvallah, the Tiger combo. Just control Immortal Prelate not to ruin Holy Wrath.
Also, you can use Baleful Banker to give another chance for silenced Undatakah.
And don't forget to include Faceless Manipulator!
You can check out a Luchtverfrisser's attempt on this deck: Immovable Object Paladin deck.
Spell Heavy
Blessing of Kings, Consecration, Spirit of the Tiger, Shirvallah, the Tiger along with some nice buff targets, like Cloakscale Chemist, Half-Time Scavenger, Rusty Recycler and many more. Provides solid 'I have something to play!' feeling.
Healing
I am sad i don't have key card to test it, but...
Soup Vendor! There are a lot of Paladin cards, that restores 3 or more Health at a time (Benevolent Djinn, Paragon of Light, Flash of Light, Lay on Hands, Uther of the Ebon Blade)... Don't forget Zilliax, Lifedrinker, Earthen Ring Farseer. Insane survivability with a very fast cycle for combo pieces.
Including synergy cards like High Priest Thekal, Blackguard,Crystalsmith Kangor & Truesilver Champion probably should make you a scary opponent, even without combo.
Call to Arms
Immortal Prelate will remain 2 mana, even while havily buffed with Fungalmancer, Spikeridged Steed and so on. That means it can be brought back by Call to Arms! Just create aggressive deck with a bunch of solid 2-drops.
But be awared, that Da Undatakah combo will not be a main win condition anymore, because it's almost guaranteed to lose 3 Immortal Prelate's before it.
Val'anyr Overload
- Land a Val'anyr buff on Da Undatakah somehow;
- Play Da Undatakah (with Immortal Prelate's & Meat Wagon's deathrattles);
- Play Spiritsinger Umbra and Faceless Manipulator on Da Undatakah. Suicide first Undatakah, in case of order issues;
- Enjoy your 14 Val'anyr triggers (and, maybe, 14 triggers of another deathrattle along, like Plated Beetle's).
Leper Gnome OTK (TTK)
- Play during the game and let die: Immortal Prelate, Silver Vanguard, Leper Gnome (or Goblin Bomb);
- Play Da Undatakah;
- Next turn: Spiritsinger Umbra, Zola the Gorgon on it (or Youthful Brewmaster), Time Out!, trade your Undatakah into something; (opponent takes 28 damage, you are guaranteed to survive)
- Repeat last step to ensure a kill.
You can check out a Kissmealloveragain's attempt on this: Goblin Bomb OTK deck.
Could be also done in a fancy way using Abomination instead of Leper Gnome, and Deathspeaker instead of Zola the Gorgon.
Outro
You know what is really satisfying with this deck? Opponents get surprised. Some Taunt Druids and Quest Rogues with full board, saying "Well Played" already. They don't feel Da Undatakah + Sunfury Protector move can stop them. They break the taunt and... it's so funny to see opponents targeting your face in confusion. 'A minion with Taunt is on the way'!
I hope you can enjoy this too, before the synergy becomes well known. Good luck!

i just improve your deck adding up some lifesteal and extra removals,70%WR on the ladder so far
i give you a credit also in here BUFF,LIFESTEAL AND A WALL
thanks for the idea
how is this mate. I just got lynessa in a pack and trying to decide whether I want top keep her. I wanted to get undertakah anyway so maybe this is the right direction I want to look in?
I have only played odd and murloc pally so not familiar with the more complex decks.
Whenever you have 2xSpikeridged Steed and Zola the Gorgon, Lynessa Sunsorrow is a strong keep for any slow Palladin deck.
And, if I understand your question right, Da Undatakah is a good target for crafting (but not top priority), because it is universal neutral legendary, that can be played in various decks among the years.
But look at the comment below ↓. This is very hard deck, especially if you only have using aggro tactics before. I seriously don't recommend trying it on ladder. I play this deck only in Casual mode myself.
thanks.
yeah I can see it would be hard as you have to keep track of death rattles and stuff as I think undertakah only uses the previous 3 or something?
I have played some harder decks like cubelock, miracle rogue and such. but tbh most of the time I prefer playing easier decks on ladder.
I still enjoy harder to play decks as well though.
PS: I just meant I got the card lynessa from a pack. I wasn't sure whether I'd use her or not so was looking for decks that I might enjoy that use her.
Ideally I'd like to find a wild deck as then she will be most valuable to me (as she rotates like you said this year)
this deck is shit on the ladder. lost every game. 2 hunters. 1 rogue. 2 pallys. If you don't draw your combo in time, you lose. do not craft this bs
Hey, this combo finds its way into one of the Trolden's video! Now there are about 1 zillion people in the comments asking for a decklist. How many will find it, what do you think?
Da Undatakah stuff starts at 3:45 :
I really hope this combo starts to become more main stream. It's so funny when your opponent has lethal on board and you pull of the combo on the same turn.
The "problem" with this deck is that you can never kill your opponent. They always concede before you bring them to 0.
How is it possible that my Da Undatakah didn't get pulled out even when i let my Immortal Prelate die first and Silver Vanguard last ?
Since Da Undatakah chooses deathrattles randomly, it can recruit a 8 drop before shuffling itself in the deck. Just replay Da Undatakah to have the infinite value.
Was looking for an interesting deck while already having TTK Shirvallah Pally, and found out this combo!
So, this combo needs only 4 cards, but finding them is pretty difficult. I have to draw both Da Undatakah and Silver Vanguard to play the second one. Anyway, with my current version of the deck, I am going 20:8! FeelsAmazingMan
1) Silence. I would say, 40% of the decks now use at least 1 Silence card, so it is pretty dangerous to pull out combo without baiting for Silence.
2) Polymorph. Usual encounters are Tempo/Odd mages. There is no problem with odd ones, but the other need baiting for their Polymorph . I usually bait them to use it on my Deranged Doctor / Shirvallah the Tiger and sth from Stonehill Defender . So, I usually have no problem.
3) Hex . Yeah, shamans are the worst matchups. You can also bait them like mages, but they can get another Hex / Earth Shock from Hagatha the Witch .
4) Faceless Manipulator / Prince Taldaram . Only cubelocks have them, so you should just wait until they play them/just don't do the combo, try to stay alive and do the TTK combo.
5) Mind Control Tech . At the moment there are almost no decks carrying him, but If you are afraid, just don't play 4+ minions.
The most great thing about this combo is watching opponents trying to go face after killing Da Undatakah and being surprised when he comes back. I just can't stop laughing!
Great deck, 5/5, very fun to play(but not against, I guess).
Never thought I'd use Mindbreaker in a competitive deck, but it just completely clutched a hunter game when I was at 4hp.
can lynessa be replaced?
Yes, details are in the guide. Basically, you don't need it, it does not affect the combo. But if you have Spikeridged Steed in your deck, Lynessa Sunsorrow is good enough by itself to include. Definetely wins me some games.
Like the broke said. Ring the bells and Spikeridge can often turn your Lynessa into a 15/20+ taunt, completely swinging a game around and carrying it herself. If you plan on playing this deck, I'd certainly think about crafting her. Just remember she rotates out in 4 months or so.
I actually just got lynessa tonight when fishing for a kingsbane.
when I get undertakah I will try this out... looks hard though.
you know of any other decks that run lynessa still? I don't have a lot of paladin cards so might be a while till I get to use her. most likely wild if she has a place there.
it's a shame as I really wanted to use her in like 2017 when K&C came out. I remember there being a cool deck around that time that was a dudes deck I think? (handbuff)
Yeah, there are variations on this deck, and people are catching up to this.
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbiCK1rhhnI for example.
HEY whay if shaman turn me immortal into frog???????
1) Da Undatakah gets his deathrattles at random order, you have no control on it. And it affects the combo. Da Undatakah will not recruit itself, if 'recruit' triggers before 'shuffle'. So, it's 50% chance for combo to work at first play of Da Undatakah (66% if you let die 2 Immortal Prelate and 1 Silver Vanguard). Hopefully, even if it didn't recruit itself immideately, you can draw and play it second time. At second time, it would get 3 more deathrattles on top of old 3. It's 100% chance for combo to work at second play.
2) You don't have to buff Meat Wagon (most of the time, you really don't want him to be buffed). But Da Undatakah should be buffed, if you want it be able to recruit itself using acquired Meat Wagon's deathrattle. It is a weird interaction because buffs do not count for cards while you look for them in the deck: Da Undatakah with 8+ attack can recruit Da Undatakah with exactly 8 attack, but when it's pulled out - oh, surprise - turns out it was the same Da Undatakah with 8+ attack. ~spaghetti coding~
