The APM Priest with Test Subject is back, this time with new tools from Rastakhan's Rumble. Now, instead of buffing Stonetusk Boars with Divine Spirit, what you want to do is generate a lot of Regenerate spells to kill your opponents by smashing all those into their faces thanks to the new Auchenai Phantasm.
To support this, I can think of at least two different shells: dragons (which I'd like to try) or extreme draw with deathrattle package (which for now is the one I've chosen). I don't really know which one is better, so here I'm listing, before explaining the OTK, some of the cards that could be good to either survive or draw your combo pieces.
EDIT: Here's my initial build for the dragons' version: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1210382-regenerate-apm-priest-dragon-version-rastakhans
1) Survive: Spirit Lash, Duskbreaker, Dragonmaw Scorcher, Auchenai/Circle, Mass Hyteria, Psychic Scream, Primordial Drake, Anduin... And also targeted removal like PW: Pain and Death or Crowd Roaster.
2) Draw like crazy: Dead Ringer, Loot Hoarder, Thalnos. Northshire Cleric, PW: Shield, Acolyte of Pain, Piper, Sandbinder.
3) Play the combo (really fast! APM time, boys!):
CARDS YOU NEED IN HAND:
1 x Test Subject
1 x Vivid Nightmare
1 x Topsy Turvy
2 x Regenerate
1 x Auchenai Phantasm
1 x Radiant Elemental
1 x Radiant Elemental or Vivid Nightmare
STEP BY STEP:
Play Test Subject (1 mana spent)
Play Radiant Elemental (3 mana)
Play Radiant Elemental or Vivid Nightmare on Radiant Elemental (5 mana)
Play Regenerate on Test Subject #1
Play Regenerate on Test Subject #1
Play Vivid Nightmare on Test Subject #1 (6 mana)
Play Topsy Turvy on Test Subject #2
IN HAND: 2 x Regenerate, 1 x Vivid Nightmare, 1 x Topsy Turvy, 1 x Auchenai Phantasm
ON BOARD: 3 minions
Play Regenerate on Test Subject #1
Play Regenerate on Test Subject #1
Play Vivid Nightmare on Test Subject #1 (7 mana)
Play Topsy Turvy on Test Subject #3
IN HAND: 4 x Regenerate, 2 x Vivid Nightmare, 1 x Topsy Turvy, 1 x Auchenai Phantasm
ON BOARD: 3 minions
Play Vivid Nightmare on Radiant Elemental (8 mana)
Play Vivid Nightmare on Test Subject #1
Play Auchenai Phantasm (10 mana)
Smash Regenerate into opponent's face x 4 = 12 damage
Play Topsy Turvy on Test Subject #4
IN HAND: 4 Regenerate, 3 x Vivid Nightmare, 1 x Topsy Turvy
ON BOARD: 5 minions
Smash Regenerate x 4 -- 12+12 = 24 damage
Play 1 or 2 x Vivid Nightmares on Test Subject #1
Play Tospy Turvy on Test Subject #5
IN HAND: 4 Regenerate, 4 or 5 x Vivid Nightmare, 1 x Topsy Turvy
ON BOARD: 6 or 7 minions
Smash Regenerate x 4 -- 24 + 12 = 36 damage
And you still have Subjects alive to get more Regenerates, but at this point you start to burn cards (due to Vivid Nightmares), so you have to be careful. You'll burn Topsy Turvy, so use one of your Regenerates to kill Test Subject and get some more.
4) Profit!
Dude, i really like this deck!
absolute waste of time playing this deck lmao
I've been playing it with pretty good results. First day though, so I'm probably facing suboptimal decks (and this is also a suboptimal deck, but one that gets you wins and lots of fun)
Tried it out, went 12 - 3 with some minor changes. (I removed mass hysteria and added quest and zola, since I didn't really know what would fit.) And yeah, it worked out great. Very nice.
you're not thinking about this right. why are you playing topsy turvy? cut it and play two copies of shadow word pain, which have the same effect with the combo and are real cards. there's no one-of you need for this combo and no dead cards. a third regenerate from shadow visions can fill in as your way to kill test subject. you can cut some of the tutors for the new arcane giants. i feel like wild pyro deseves a home here too and maybe lyra to have a deck with many angles to victory but focusing on turbo combo is fine too. new convert also a consideration for utility and i think it can stand in for a vivid or radiant in some combo variations
update: topsy-turvy might be better after all because with it you can basically substitute the coin for the extra radiant elemental or vivid nightmare, making it a 7 card + coin combo and you could play that 3 drop that gives coins possibly. but as you're doing the combo now with 8 cards pain is a strict upgrade because it's more useful when you get it with shadow visions, i think.
anyway i did a lot of figuring stuff out and it's actually infinite damage because you'll stabilize at getting one vivid nightmare and 4 regenerates from each test subject kill after your hand has 5 unplayable cards in it, because the second vivid is the sixth thing you play on the test subject. that's 9 damage a loop, i think most people should be able to pull this off, and the deck overall is much stronger than the other APM priest at winning without the combo, especially if you include lyra and the new giants. the big downside is 8 instead of 7 cards, that might be too much.
further update: here's my initial build https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1209682-iq-priest-test-subject-regenerate-otk
worth noting that this is actually _infinite_ damage, eventually you'll only get one vivid and your hand won't get clogged anymore, and the actions you have to take are a lot less finicky that the other deck so it's unlikely you'll rope out unless your opponent is at like a hundred damage.
It would be nice of you to give credit for the original idea in your deck, even if you think your build is better (I'll definitely try some of your ideas)
ah sorry , i wasn't thinking many people would see my post...
anyway important new research shows you only need one regen for infinite! the base minimum infinite combo is a subject with 2x regen and vivid among the first 3 spells on it, which can be accomplished by
regen subject > vivid subject > kill copy > regen subject
so with some apm its a 7 card infinite damage combo!
i can't think of a way to do it with two regens and no other way to kill subject... i do think spirit lash could stand in for pain in the combo in a pinch though so maybe play one of those for redundancy or two if it's good in the meta
fair, ill add a link, have to rewrite my description to reflect new research, you actually dont need two regens for infinite damage and you can use spirit lash as a replacement for pain or topsy turvy if spirit lash is something you want in you're deck. at a seven card combo i think this is just better then the divine boar strats
Spirit Lash would kill the Radiant Elementals if played several times... I think Pain or Topsy is better. I've also thought about Holy Smite, which could also be face damage... What do u think about that?
you don't get the lash back anyway, i was thinking you could get away with only using it once before switching to regens but on working it is that didn't quite work so i was wromg there... smite and pain are the big contenders and i think it depends on which card is better posituoned basically
OP forgot:
5) Go be tested for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
I already feel helpless.......
10 mana, 6 minions on the board, 8 cards combo, seems too hard :C
It's 5 minions on the board when you've already played the 36 damage combo, so you could have 2 survivors from previous turns before starting (which is actually quite unlikely).
And you have plenty of options to get the 8 cards needed: Dead Ringer for Test Subject, Piper for Auchenai and Radiant when you have already cicled your deathrattles and Shadow Visions for the spells.
I'm not trying to say it's not hard, just not harder than the original APM Priest.
+1, looks promising!
