Introduction:
Hello, I am Thornstaff, a legend player from EU. I used to be stuck in rank five, because of all the rushers in current Meta. Few days ago, I managed to make the climb, from rank 5 to legend top 100 using this deck.
Deckidea:
i decided to call it, SoulLock due to all of the souls it managed to consume. When I made the climb, I was on a huge winning streak, due to very careful play against rushers, and very greedy against control The idea behind this deck was to make a deck able to counter rushers and still have very good win condition against control decks so i decided to make a handlock which in i removed some of the late game minions such as ragnaros sylvanas etc to make it fast enough to beat dem rushers
Tech Choices?
Soulfire:
even though soulfire is a very good 0 mana removal i prefer mortal coil and unstable ghoul because of there's so many minions in current meta with 1 hp which soulfire in most cases will only give u a huge tempoloss vs aggro
Unstable ghoul
This card is my personally favorite against hunter especially. This card won me a lot of time, when they drop their low cost deathrattles (loot hoarder + leper gnome), huffer, spectral spiders etc and in worst case it tanks 3 dmg, and it is also a good card to drop against control warrior, to avoid their grommash to face. It can be bad against warriors if used incorrectly, due to the armorsmith and acolyte but if you play it, when you have an answer to armorsmith, or acolyte then it’s a solid card that might take removal, or help board clear.
Acidic swamp ooze
It is very good, due to its versatility. Being able to destroy the hunter weapon, it can delay or prevent the deathbite grommash combo, so he cannot deal 14 dmg to face in one round. It is also able to remove Jaraxxus Erador lord of the burning legions weapon. It’s also a solid body, to fight for the early game board control, versus aggro..
Zombie Chow
This is arguable the best answer to turn one undertaker, this combined with mortal coil, will usually guarantee a dead undertaker for minimal cost, and still enabling turn 4 mountain giant if you go second. It can also put pressure on the board against control and midrange decks.
Strategy behind this deck:
Rushers:
Vs rushers u will always try go for board, in order to prevent the enemy from killing you. You often try to make it to molten giant taunt wall, or jaraxxus. In this situation zombie chow, unstable ghoul, ooze is a very good slowdown. U should only tap if u feel like it won't kill you. Remember the more cards in your hand, the more opportunities, cheaper mountain giants, stronger twilight drakes etc. Cards like ancient watcher, is always a good card to play, because of shadowflame taunt up and silence.
Control:
More to be added!!!!
Feedback appreciated :D
Proof:
Btw u could also go check out my new omegadin, reached top 40 eu with it, and the deck is insane vs hunters!!!!!

what about heal bot or earthen ring?
I think the Alex is unnecessary when you already have Jaraxxus. Mayb put the earthern ring back in?
First off, well made deck im climbing faster than ever. 6 ranks in a day. i have a few questions.
1. i see alot of people saying swapping a faceless for a belcher in rush decks, If that's the case could u please explain.
2. I'm having some trouble with rush decks, Expecialy hunters, any pointers would be helpful.
3. Last one is an unstable ghoul question.. I know its a good type of board clear, but i find myself only ever using it as card fodder to get him to sac. minions,, or in some priest cases a shadow word XDD Is using the ghoul in this form ok?
Is Alexstrasza a suitable replacement for Jaraxxus? I haven't ever played with Jaraxxus, so I can't really test. Obviously he's better than Alex, since he kills a thing for you and then for the rest of the game gives you constant win conditions, but isn't a major part of the point of running him that he heals you back up to 15?
I highly recommend playing 3x Molten Giant and 4x Sunfury Protector in a rushy metagame.... Kappa
I already posted here, but I'm having great success with this deck against everything BUT hunter. I crush zoo even.
Switched out a Sludge Belcher for a Faceless Manipulator. Deck works amazing against all of these anti-aggro decks, but I'm still struggling against most hunters.
If you struggle against hunters, I would consider Sludge a much better card than Faceless. You need the taunts and early pressure to take out hunters.
this is sowbears list? card for card
Agree lol...
Running Alex instead of the Ghoul. Because i feel you need to turn 9 heal almost anyway against hunter (even when you had the good ancien watcher/taunt or ancien watcher/silence start). What do you think of it?
If you have to rely on getting healed because of the dominance of a aggro deck like hunter is, do not add turn 9 plays and even less of a unique card like Alexstrasza, its better if you fit a second farseer into de deck, or consider the addition of Drain Life ( Wich is not too mana efficient )
But i mean it seems relatively easy to me to play around the ghoul deathrattle right? Isn't it going to only tank 3 damage most of the time coming either from a bow charge or from an undertaker, meaning it's likely "only" killing leper gnomes and webspinner? And i mean, the real deal is the undertaker right?
Most warrior decks have stopped running ghouls as far as i know even though they have good synergies with the whirlwind effect on their side of the board that handlocks do not have.
The only case where it would seems good to me is that it allows you to activate snake trap without needing another aoe to clear the snakes.
+ the ghoul is totally useless in control matchups where alex can be of some use.
This is a standard handlock with wierd additions of Chow, unstable ghoul, and ooze nothing really special
These additions make it anti-hunter though, and is made specifically to counter the current meta.
Don't want to say anything bad but I came from rank 5 to rank 7 (2 wins out of 10 games). Maybe I play that bad maybe I'm just unlucky. Btw against hunters at turn 5-6-7 I have about 10 hp and ofc no molten giants.
Handlock doesn't perform as bad against hunters as a lot of people lead on. My win rate with handlock vs. hunter is really somewhere around the 50% mark. Thus, I feel all of these smaller curve anti-aggro minions are somewhat unnecessary. Yes, I'm sure you are increasing your chances against hunters slightly with additions like zombie chow and unstable ghoul, but you are hurting yourself in other mid range/control match ups. I feel the standard handlock does well enough against hunter to just roll with it, making your other match ups far more favorable. Admittedly, I do like the Ooze in handlock, but I have trouble cutting cards for it sometimes.
nice deck but no chance vs. hunter! :(
I had never won against hunter ith standar handlock... and I manage to win with this deck! :D ****ing hunters!
One soulfire, four aoes, two coils, only one earthen ring, zombie chow, acidic swamp ooze, and unstable ghoul are all fairly unique as far as handlock is concerned! This is a very different deck.
