Got sick of getting smashed by all the aggro Zoo's and Hunters so I made this deck. Basically got rid of all the high cost legendaries in the usual priest deck because they are too often dead cards (or im dead before i can play them). Since my changed my win rate has gone WAY up and im now top 10 legend NA.
Edit: -2 undertaker +2 smite
Belchers instead of Loatheb and 1x Argus will work too.
Does thoughtsteal fit into this deck?
its designed to counter aggro. generally aggro decks dont have cards with lots of value individually. but if you are going for the control matchup i'd say def add thoughsteal
This is the general priest deck everyone running since Naxx. Nice to see on the front page finally. :)
You have categorized this deck as aggro XD but srsly you might wanna change that since some ppl wont even look at it and some, less serious priest players, will. I'm not saying this to be a jerk or anything, I just want your deck to be seen more :)
Garbage deck.
Does terrible against any type of deck rofl. Weak to any big bodies, Weak and situational early game, Little to no synergy with a 100% reliance on draw.
Its basicly a standard priest deck lol, a few dif cards nothing new...
Good idea. I gave it a try, cleared 2x turn 3 misha. Def an improvement. Thanks
Priest already does well vs aggro. You're giving up way too much vs control for only a marginal improvement vs aggro.
You were playing against shitty priests before then, because they shouldn't be consistently losing to hunter. Really, people play priest when they want to beat hunter. Maybe you ranked up and started getting matched against better priests, but I promise you this decklist being released has not revolutionized the matchup by any means.
I might be wrong but I don't see the point in running Undertaker with only five deathrattle minions, and the Cultist are even 3 drops. Not much chance to get the combo start.
Also, wouldn't Sludge Belcher be better against aggro ? You might not have enough minions on the board with this deck to get value from 2 Argus. Swapping out at least one seems better for me.
Yeah, there's no huge minions like ysera to argus either so I really don't see the logic in running argus over belcher. If you do make the switch to belchers, the undertaker becomes a little more justifiable...but if you want to run a scumbag undertaker deck, there are better classes than priest to do it with who would be running those deathrattle minions anyway.
First, this deck does work at what it's trying to achieve. I did get a noticeably better win-rate vs aggro decks. If that is all your looking for its good. But that being said...
I tried this deck for a bit, gave it 20 games, in all honesty... Making your deck a bit more consistent against aggro is not worth being completely useless against all other decks. Priest can already handle aggro decks decently. Even the changes here don't give you much. Zombie Chow and Wild Pyros are a good change, and are almost enough on their own. Not enough Deathrattle for Undertakers or quality targets for Defender of Argus. Hunters + Warlocks only make up *at most* 65% of all matches, even then your not going to get anywhere close to beating them all. (Sure, aggro can be annoying, and that's probably why it means more to beat them than it actually is.) Just my 2-cents, take or leave it.
I use HearthStone Tracker to record all of my games, in my last 200 games in ladder Warlock+Hunter is only 57% of my total, and that was in the 5-Legend range taken from this season. Even then a priests win-rate against these classes isn't bad.
Mind Control Tech always fit very well in a Priest deck. A 3/3 for 3 is solid, and quite often aggro decks will push to 4 minions. Good on its own, but with its effect is essentially putting 2 bodies on the board.
Abomination is a great anti-aggro minion often overlooked. A solid 4/4 taunt with a 2 damage AoE. They have to kill it, but it wrecks the board. Usually overlooked because of the cost, a slower play but they are often over committed by that point. Unstable Ghoul is decent too.
Should I just FF against control and keep queuing for aggro?
FF? We're acronyming by syllable now?
Just write forfeit or concede, for f**k's sake.
Well, even if your winrate versus control is 20%, that is better than 0%.
FF is a very common abbreviation, it's used in a wide variety of games and has been for some time now. What are you, a dinosaur.
I thought he meant full face.
FTFY :p
Those are acronyms I can get behind. One letter per word.
What a lot of people aren't getting is that you are basically throwing matchups versus control because they are so much rarer than facing zoo and hunter. So even if you have a 25% winrate versus control, it is okay becuase you have a very high winrate versus aggro which is much more common. Your net wins will be much higher with a deck geared towards the meta than trying to play a deck that does decent against everything.
