This deck is my version of the Lightwarden + Windfury + Healing Rain "OTK" combo. Other combinations are possible depending on what you draw, and I think therein lies its strength. People are saying that it still works with a little substitution, so don't feel constrained by my choices and my reasons behind them.
Guide
Keep any set pieces you find in mulligan, because ideally you want to have some combination of the above in hand by around your third group of turns, and have taken enough friendly damage so that Healing Rain boosts Lightwarden's attack up to at least 15 with Windfury (≥7 damage healed), or 25 without (12 healed), plus some other combination of 5 damage (Lava Burst, or Injured Blademaster + Frost Shock/Ice Breaker, etc.).
It's possible to have lethal by turns 3/4 if there's at least 7 friendly damage on board: T3, Lightwarden, Windfury; T4, Healing Rain for 30 face damage. Alternatively, you can do the same amount of damage without Windfury by using both Lightwardens.
There are several ways to assemble the set pieces; the biggest dangers are: bad draw luck, enemy OTKs, and taunts. I've tried to mitigate some of these by including tutors, card draw, silence, and poison. I don't pretend to have played the deck enough yet to have fully optimized it though, so I look forward to reading your ideas and constructive criticism in comments. Thanks for looking!
Edit: I replaced Darkscale Healers with Stubborn Gastropods for more reliable taunt removal–thanks to kurumilife for the suggestion!
Edit2: Beakered Lightning was meant to combo with wide board heals, but since I took those out they were more of a liability in terms of overload and accidentally wiping Lightwardens; replaced with Novice Engineers since secondary tutoring is less important than getting the primary combo pieces ASAP. Thanks for the continued interest, upvotes, and discussion, everyone!
wtf is this??
We really should develop some rock-proof scissors.
Why do you need beakered lightning? I would throw in 2 doomsayers instead.
Agreed that Beakered Lightning is no longer necessary; replaced with Novice Engineers. However, I maintain that Doomsayer doesn't play well with the combo.
Loses to any aggro deck now that the brawl meta has settled.
You either win at the end of second 2-turn "turn", or you lose.
WHY!
Great deck, works pretty well! Mulligan hard for core cards of the combo!!!
I wont lie, I was absolutely destroyed the first 3 or 4 times I played with this deck. But once you get the feel for it, and you make some swap-outs with whatever you have available to you (I swapped out both Elementary Reactions in favor of Tidal Surge and Drakkari Defender), it can be a very effective (and fun!) deck for this Tavern Brawl!
I really recommend you replace Stubborn Gastropod with Doomsayer
I don't want a completely clear board, though; I need to take some face damage to set up Healing Rain. Also, I can't set up the Lightwarden combo using Doomsayer on my group of turns, so I don't think it works here.
I understand your point. I've used Doomsayer to stall and Lava Burst to hit my own face to get that healing :)
Tried this but have met nothing but hunters that really out-tempo this deck. It seems VERY prone to bad ring. I have still not survived long enough to get the combo. And even if I did, the hunters have run several taunts which make the Lightwarden moot. Maybe it's a good deck but I haven't been able to make it work.
Great idea I doubt many people thought of this one +1. This was so much fun to play and it's surprising how fast the damage ramps up even without windfury. I used the deck in my video if anyone is interested, thanks.
cool deck
Thanks!
so you are playing zero elementals in this deck. isn't Novice Engineer just strictly better? it's just a 1\1 body but still.
Again, I don't want to dilute Witchwood Piper's pool, but you do you!
How do you guys keep the Lightwardens alive long enough to attack?
don't play it until you have lightwarden healing rain windfury and low health. then otk in 2 turns
one turn kill in 2 turns lol
