Follows the typical Odd Rogue mulligans and game plan, but depending on the community reaction, I may make a guide. Thank you
what to craft first? Patches the Pirate or Captain Greenskin ?
Patches. I personally took Greenskin out of the deck. Patches can get you a leg up in the start.
Greyscout is correct. Patches is a necessity, Greenskin is a Luxury.
Great deck. My winrate is upwards of 80%. However, the deck I was having the most trouble against is Odd Paladin. The two Skulkers weren't enough. I dropped Greenskin and a Southsea Captain and replaced them with two Fan of Knives. I've defeated Odd Pali the past three times I faced it and in one of the cases, Fan of Knives forced a quit on turn 5. Great deck.
Hello! Thanks for sharing this awesome deck. Im having fairly good succes with it, but i always lose to odd pally - any tips for that particular matchup?
That's just how it goes. Mulligan hard for skulkers. A good timed skulker wins you the game.
As @Veshna says, you want to mulligan for Skulkers, but you REALLY want Fire Flies, Southsea Captain, and 1 Drop Pirates. Skulkers are nice, but the one drops are more important as they allow you to value trade while still building a board. If you watch my VoD from day 1 on ladder, I played 3 pally matches and won all three games
The IDEAL opener follows
Turn 1: Play Fire Fly (their 2 health body trades very well into their recruits
Turn 2: Play token fly and any pirate
Turn 3: Southsea Captain
Thanks for the tips guys! Cheers
See my reply above. I wasn't getting enough value from Greenskin and SSC, so I replaced them with Fan of Knives.
How useful is Patches the Pirate in this deck? Can I replace it with something else?
Patches is a core card. He really helps win the board early in the game (really important in aggro matchups), thins out your deck, and gets buffed by captain. Having a zero mana 1/1 is nice when you do not have to wait until it's in your hand to summon. Patches is definitely a safe craft in wild, so if you have the dust, I would craft him
If you do not have the dust, the only replacement card I think would be a Deadly Poison to help battle for board.
Have a question: what about myra's to regass late game ? Also ironbeak owl vs Void ripper ?
Question 1: what about myra's to regass late game
Answer 1: On my EU account, I do not have Captain Greenskin, so I run Myra's in it's place. What I have found is that I miss the 5/4 body and 3 attack weapon more than I want to draw the rest of my deck for hail mary lethals. My EU account does still run about a 70% win rate so it does not make that much of a difference
Question 2: ironbeak owl vs Void ripper
Answer 2: Last season, I ran Void Rippers in my deck, but with the nerf to Aviana, there are not as many druids on ladder and I mostly included Void Ripper as a Spreading Plague tech. Void ripper still does have synergy with buffing pirates and dealing with Doomsayers, Dirty Rats, and Deathlords, but with the increase of warlocks on ladder, I found that I had no way of dealing with turn 5 Voidlords and I was losing games that way. I teched in the owl and really haven't missed Void Ripper since making the switch
Ty for the insight and fast response. Here is a follow up question: how is the single inclusion of fungalmancer working out for you ? don't you often wish you had 2 ?
kind regards :)
I've actually wished I didn't have any fungalmancers in the deck more times than I wished I had two. There weren't many games that I got full value out of Fungalmancer since the meta is so fast in Wild right now and you are constantly fighting for board presence. I think one is perfect for the deck
Thanks for sharing, i like the Zilliax for the ability to heal and kill big stuff with coldblood :)
When I first included Zilliax, it was just as a "Giggling Inventor" sub. The more I used Zilliax, the more I realized how versatile and how much of an impact the card made. Zilliax + Cold Blood combo is a nasty combo that kills a big minion, heals you for 7 (or 14), is it the one of the biggest tempo swing cards in the deck.
