Hello, everybody!
Here is a deck for those who want to make som insane shinnanigans as well as having a high win rate. This deck is a midrange/aggro deck, with the ability to go for both offensive and mor midrange/defensive lines.
Gameplay in Legend
Mulligan and strategy guide
Strategy
This is first and foremost a deck that wants to gain tempo and be ahead. Your hero power and early minions will usually help you gaining board control early. Often from this point you will be able to rush your opponent down. If not, the cubes and deathrattle synergy wil be helpful to build a board bigger than your opponent can handle.
Regarding cubes, it is important to not get to greedy. Often it is correct to cube a low impact minion or just slam Cube naked. As far as i concern this deck has 7 preferred cube targets: Egg, Devilsaur (which comes out of the egg), Cube itself, Leeroy, Grizzlys x 2 and Baku. If cube hits on one of thees minions, you usually will be in a verry good spot.
In summary: Often play the deck as a tempo deck and treat the deathrattle synergy as an x-factor and don't get to greedy with it against aggro. If facing Druids, you really like to cube high impact minions.
Mulligan guide
The mulligan with this deck is very hard and different regarding the match up. If you try to mulligan like an ordinary odd rouge (seeking 1- and 3-drops except egg) you usually should be doing fine. This means that you should be looking for Squire, Fire fly and Mole of the 1- drops, and regarding 3- drops you want to find Thug, Fledgling, Ripper and SI.
But in certain matches the egg is an keep if you are having void ripper or blade at hand as well. For an example my experience is that even locks struggles a lot against the egg, since often they can't remove your board without prokking the egg.
As said, the mulligan is very complex with this deck, which makes it hard to say something in general about how to mulligan. You need to be able to look at how your hands synergies, and if that particular synergy is to prefer in the very match up your are facing.
Hope this was helpful in any ways. Feel free to ask question below and I will try to answer as many as best I can.
Ekstras - Awesome game play by Kiwiinbacon!
Are there any modifications/changes that you have made to the deck? Currently at rank 9, been struggling in bit but its prob just cause im not playing correctly/messing up mulligan
IMO, no changes are needed - you need to check your plays/mulligans.
In my case, got a few ranks with the deck (currently at 4) and ignoring bad luck games (bad draw for me/good draw for him, topdecking etc.), the losses that I had were mostly when I didn't know the opponents deck (so I played into something) or if I sped too much up against control (setting up the cube/necrium cards takes time, so if you just rush as you would with odd, you may end up with nothing to cube/necrium, vs taking it a bit slower and setting these cards up).
Hello,
This deck seems to be fun to play, but i' d like to ask a question (sorry in advance if it's dumb ^_^)
Why Myra Rotspring is not used here? Is she that bad?
I'd bet there is already enough cards in the "5" play spot. She doesn't fit the curve as well as some of the other "5" cards that are going to provide more board pressure/value. The 2 health makes her a glass canon and a slow/unpredictable one at that.
Yeah, it is pretty clear now, thx. But still, since I am missing 1 Carnivorous Cube and I don't really want to craft it to be honest :) would that be okay to replace it with Myra?
Thanks in advance o:)
Hello! I just wanna say, its very good deck. I played like 20 games with nice winrate. Its like odd, but better for late game. I've been wondering whate should i play if deathrattle or odd. Well this is perfect, bit of both. Really love this one, Its fun to play too. Thanks a lot! ^^
So glad that you enjoyed playing the deck :) Keep the good win rate up :)
Have played about 20 games with this deck (Replaced Leeroy with Van Cleef because I dont have him).
Feels a bit clunky, havent been able to pull off the vial combo very often at all!.
Feels like it needs some card draw or something!?
Card draw could be nice. You just need to make the changes that you find optimal or will improving the deck :) I tried with Myra, but the deck feels i little to expensive to run that card, but maybe you can make that work :)
It is important to remember that the vial combo is the x-factor of the deck, not necessarily the primary win condition. This is very important having in mind while playing it. Often the deck will fluent fine by just playing it as a stright up aggro list and then the deathrattle synergy hust being the x-factor of the deck :)
Rogue*
Hi! I've been playing Odd Rogue for a while now and also played DR Rogue, switching back and forth between both of them from rank 5 to 2. When I saw the deck's name I was super excited! Personally, I cut off 1 Grizzly (because of too many druids, warriors, evenlocks), both Fledglings (too slow and gets hated out a lot) and the Void Ripper (this one I'm still testing out, damn druids) for Sonya, another copy of Fungalmancer and Egg, and finally Zilliax.
Fungalmancer gives you something to make your Eggs able to attack (and consequently die) besides Cold Blood, so adding a copy of each makes this strategy more consistent while also giving you another target/trigger for Necrium Blade/Vial/Cube, and Sonya gives you a constant stream of Cubes, Fungalmancers, Deckhands and sometimes mini-Leeroys for that final little push (being able to trigger Sonya when cubing something is a nice little synergy). Also, cubing a Zilliax and then Necrium Vial gives you tons of lifegain, and board clear+stalling potential along with a comeback factor.
Still, really nice idea! a fresh take on an archetype (Odd) which started to feel really boring and stale for me (hence my experimentation with DR). Seeing them both combined (taking advantage of the space given by the Giggling Inventor nerf+the dropping of Blood Knight because of it) makes for a really fun deck.
Cheers!
Edit: I've been testing this build on rank 3 if anyone is interested.
Hey!
I have tried those changes you are talking about before posting the list, except the sonya for ripper change. I found the deck a bit to slow to beat hunters and zoo with those changes, so thats why I ended on the list I postet here. However, there is no universally right answer to what is the optimal list, it very much depends on the meta at the very moment which changes constantly. If these changes works for you, stick to them :)
Keep up the good work!
There are only three deathrattle minions in this deck, and only four cards that trigger them. Both cube and necrium blade need setup first for them to work and can be dead cards in your hands. I've had some good matches, but still mostly this is a deck that doesn't know what it wants to be (odd rogue or deathrattle rogue) so it's a little of both. It lacks consistency imo. (Played at rank 4).
As far as I concern, Cube is never a dead card. Cube is a five mana 4/6 which by itself is a decent amount of stats. You don't need to make cube hit a minion in every match ups, often it can be played for tempo. The only card that really can be a dead card is necrium vial. The blade is a good weapon, for the egg you have a lot of triggerts (cube, Cold blood, ripper, fungal) and the cube is just a decent body at it worst.
I have played many games with double eggs, and I have found this list more optimal since the egg is a slow 3 mana play and you don't really wanna play this deck slow.
Sorry it didn't work out for you, but to me and many other people the decks is in fact consistent and i am at this very moment rank 240 in Legend with it and a freind of mine climbed from rank 1K to top 200 with it recently. I don't think an incosistent deck would manage that over so many days of playing it. Although, this deck i A LOT harder to play than regular odd rouge, wich might be a reason for it to feel incosistent since we all will make many more misplays with it than the normy odd rogue. Me included are still doing a lot of misplays.
Kyten thank you so much for sharing this. I was rank 9 with Odd Rogue and had a very bad stream yesterday and earlier today where I faced 5 Druids in a row. Demoralized, I crafted every card I needed for this part Void Ripper and first went 9-0 till rank 6, then I lost 3 due to minor misplay and stronger opponents, and finally hit another positive streak all the way to rank 5!
I really really like this deck and I believe it is much stronger than the standard Odd Rogue, which can run out of steam too quickly and loses to any ultra-defensive deck (Druid, Odd Warrior, Taunt Warlock).
I only had a hard time facing Deathrattle Hunter. They get on to the deathrattle combos faster than you and with Candleshot/Hunter's Mark they can deal with both your early board and midgame. Do you have any suggestions for this match up?
Hey :) So happy to hear that you liked the deck and that it works out for you!
Yeah, against hunter it is all about being the aggressor. It is hard for this deck to keep up with the hunters when they start to snowball the deathrattle synergy. Therefor you have to push them hard and early over the edge :)
Good luck with the continuing climbing on ladder!
Trying this deck at rank 4 and it doesn't work for me. I get destroyed by almost everything. Necrium vial is most of the time a dead card and when you have both in hand you can just concede. Actually i don't see any reason to play that instead of the normal odd rogue which is simply just better than this list.
I am at rank 5 and it is still working pretty well. Maybe allow yourself a bit more time with it? Maybe you still have to adapt from standard Odd Rogue to this
Well, can't be favoured in all match ups, then everybody would play that deck :) Good luck dodging taunt druid in the future!
Void Ripper could help to win some of these unfavoured matchups.
I am on a 7:0 winning streak with this deck right now. pretty cool work. Have to admit that I was lucky against two Druids bc their draw was quiet bad.
