Hello everyone
My deck goal with Easter Party Priest is a proactive priest that 1) has solid win conditions, 2) is not highly polarized, 3) is fun to play.
Update: November 20th - Testing out addition of Thalnos + spirit lash (-1 loot hoarder & mass dispel). I also have a version I use with Umbra but I will post update soon.
Important Notes about the Deck:
1. The core of this deck is to rapidly complete your quest so as to be able to fully heal against aggro, popping eggs and bring out Devilsaurs for a strong midrange and late game. After enemy removal attempts to deal with cubes, eggs, reckless experimenter and Devilsaurs, Ysera and Lich King provide long term value against control.
2. You will notice that this desk has a dragon-Duskbreaker package. With 5 dragons other than duskbreaker, and a decent draw engine, you have a good chance of getting a usable duskbreaker by turn 4-5. Against aggro, drawing duskbreaker & being able to finish quest usually guarantees a win.
I got the math for using 5 dragons from CompetitiveHS. IMO, 4 dragons is not quite enough. I specifically tested dragons that I think add to the deck's game plan, and I think that primordial drake isn't ideal in this deck. Late game combos and Lich King / Ysera feel like better plays.
3. Core Combos:
A) Devilsaur Egg + Mirage Caller on turn 3,4.
B) Reckless experimenter & Devilsaur eggs on turn 5+ or 4 with coin.
C) Devilsaur Egg, Reckless Experimenter & Cube on turn 7 gives a total of 3 Devilsaurs + reckless experimenter for a huge board (auto-win vs aggro, usually).
D) Twilight's Call +Mirage Caller and / or Carnivorous Cube & or Reckless Experimenter
Overall, the deck has TONS of ways to bring out overwhelming boards.
4) The deck is VERY AOE resistant, if played well. One of the coolest things about this deck is that you can cube an egg or devilsaur and leave the cube unpopped. This makes it so that AOE will not clear the board fully and bring back more dinosaurs for Jurassic Park time.
5) The deck is consistent and is the is the least polarized deck I have ever played. Duskbreaker, psychic scream & the quest, PLUS the counterthreat of devilsaurs and big minions give you a great chance against aggro. Strategic use of cube & egg shenanigans can give you the chance to destroy control, sometimes as early as turn 7.
This deck can beat Even Lock, Malygos Druid, Togglewaggle Druid, Odd Rogue, Quest Rogue(If you get a good start), Shudderwock, even Deathrattle hunter and numerous other decks. I have on many occasions OUT deathrattled a deathrattle hunter, largely because of mass dispel & SW death. There's nothing more satisfying(to us) and shocking to a deathrattle hunter than destroying THEM with dinosaurs and clearing their threats with SW: Death. It almost feels dirty.
6) Shadow Visions is highly refined to add extreme consistency. Twilight's Call let's you finish quest and bring out threats, draw engine, and value through pinata & bone drake. SW: Death is fantastic against many decks right now, and pulling 3-4 SW death is often an auto win against Even Lock. Mass Dispel at the right time can overcome taunts for a devastating finisher, or be used defensively, and psychic scream is your last-ditch effort to allow you to finish quest or pull off a big combo, or both.
7) This deck is just absurdly fun to play. The weaponized pinata might seem sub-optimal. However, it does let you complete the quest faster, sometimes much faster through twilight's call. Getting quest 1-2 turns earlier because of it is often life saving, plus the RNJesus that comes through all those leggies.
Other Interesting Synergies: Twilight's Drake often has very high health because of the draw engine (loot hoarder, dead ringer), and the extra cards from bone drake and pinata.
Be prepared for roping and salt, however. Odd Rogues in particular are often extremely upset to lose to a priest - I guess rogues feel entitled to auto-win versus priest? Note: Odd Rogues are a hard match up, if you don't get good draw order.
Mulligan Notes:
1. Always keep quest(duh).
2) Dead Ringer / Loot hoarder are usually an auto-keep. Getting the extra draw will let you bring in more threats and also duskbreaker faster.
3) If you have a dead ringer or loot hoarder, keeping a reckless experimenter & an egg ON COIN gives you a solid start to quest and an insane turn 4.
4) I never almost never keep shadow visions or other spells. Sometimes, ON COIN, I will keep shadow visions to finish quest faster or get SW: death to deal with big threats.
5) Twilight's Call on coin with dead ringer / loot hoarder is a decent start vs aggro, as that will pull out eggs very quickly.
6) Don't be afraid to mulligan for duskbreaker, but also think about the cards you get and how you could go aggressive vs defensive.
ANYWAYS: I would love for other people to test out this deck and give some feedback and suggestions. Happy Easter Festivities & Bring the salt to odd rogues!
Loving the updates pietr!!! Take a look at spritsing umbra in place of zillax if you are feeling more aggro.
Thanks turbo :) That's definitely a choice I play around with and use sometimes. Zilliax def helps vs aggro, spiritsinger vs control.
This deck is simply too much fun! And that's (usually) the point, right? The shenanigans of my first game had me Flooping Lich-Kings, Face-Stealing, VanCleefing and all sorts of other nonsense that my EvenLock opponent didn't seem to know how to handle. 4-0 with it so far, and I don't know yet if it's luck, but I'm having a blast, so I don't care! Really dig the pressure, and like you said, if you balance deathrattles, they're forced into tough calls about AoE/clearing anything at all. Thanks for the awesome idea, and thanks for putting in the time for such a great guide!
TY for the feedback :)
Rotten Applebaum - Taunt to absorb damage & some extra healing that can come back through twilight's call for a bit more survability.
I just played against that deck and was wondering wtf was that thing
Any of the following would work for ysera: alexstraza(versatile), cairne bloodhoof(good deathrattle), harrison jones(draw), really any high powered card. The core of deck is cube & reckless experimenter / eggs / quest.
For Pinata: rotten applebaum, mechanical whelp
I just played Lord Jaraxxus from pinata, followed by Amara against Paladin. Awesome!
I love the effort and thought you put into this build! I am a diehard priest fan and think it’s capable of gaining the top tier status such a unique variety of cards stipulates!
i pour hours into my priest decks and know full well the satisfaction of nukinga Deathrattle Hunter or odd rogue with some really spicy shit lol
i am pretty fanatical about my home brews (currently of the opinion that my apm Topsy/quest hybrid or resurrect are the best there is) but am totally convinced by your hard work, passion, and creativity here! Gonna try it out today!
i usually Zola amara for the extra “fml” factor it evokes, so might do that little tweak to yours
good luck on ladder though! Idk if dm’s exist on this site (literally just made an account to respond to this build haha) but if you can, add me I’d live to theorycrafting with ya
all best,
~Turbo
Thank you so much for the support and feedback. I really hope it goes well and def post your results here! I don't have Zola so I can't experiment with her but she definitely has uses in this deck.
will try it out tonight! i pm'd my tag if u wanna play sometime, lets make priest great again
How about Zola the Gorgon?
I don't have it so I can't use it, but that definitely adds an extra +40 heal. Usually if you have the +40 heal you already won against aggro. VS control the damage output is too overwhelming so only very very rarely would you go to fatigue and need the extra heal. But if I had zola, I would experiment with her
which card would you guys replace with zola?
Hi! Thanks so much for your interest in this deck, and please share with me your experiences & challenges with it, and any questions.
I am just about to craft Zola. I crafted Spiritsinger Umbra for this deck, but I most recently swapped out Umbra for Zilliax and have found it still to be extra potent & now have a little more defense.
If you have Zola - you could try swapping out 1 sw death for Zola and see if you feel that you miss having that extra SW death. Usually, if you get to Amara, you already won - But definitely want to experiment!
Also, if you aren't facing a lot of aggro, you could try switching the tar creeper back to Umbra & or Zola. Do you have all of the other cards? As i've been practicing with this deck, I've actually found that weaponized pinata is really nice because of its turn 4 addition to deathrattle pool. Sometimes a turn 4/5 twilight's call and 1 or 2 more deathrattles gets you Amara early and lets you stabilize and win. I've also had a ton of super funny cards to get from Pinata that add to flavor of deck and stylish wins.
Thanks for your detailed answer. Actually I had Ziliax this week in a pack. I do have all the other cards except Umbra. Thought about crafting Umbra for a hunter deathrattle deck, but think it will be dismissed in the near future from standard.
I will try replace a SW with zola and let you know how it works. Really fun to play this deck!
I´m playing at rank 5 and only facing zoo warlock. Could only win one game against zoo, can´t stop them in the first rounds...
Hey lucky,
Zoo Lock is definitely one of the harder fights for this deck as its hyper-aggro. Defense against it is why we have the duskbreaker package, tar creeper and ziliax. Versus zoo locks I will keep only the quest and a dragon to hard mulligan for zoo lock - or if I have a dead ringer & loot hoarder I might consider keeping to get huge draws quickly. If you get the duskbreaker you have a good chance at winning. I'm uploading a video of it against a zoo lock.
I typically hit around 4-5 every month and I've been working on getting this deck to 5 through practice. I definitely think it can! I'm uploading a video right now. This deck takes practice to play & the mulligan is something I'm still refining and making heuristics for.

This deck is very fascinating. I love the idea of a mid-range priest deck and I believe you have accomplished this well. Currently, as you must know, there is a lot of bandwagon'ing on the idea that priest's do not have any viable decks with high power levels. I believe this is not true, only that there is a current lack of creativity in this domain. I feel this deck is challenging that particular idea.
Questions:
Thanks for posting about this deck, it looks extremely fun to play and I can't wait to try it out!
