Hello! I am back with another improved Heroic decklist, this time for the bane of everyone's existence, Maloriak!
General Strategy
Your objective with this deck is to stall out Maloriak's early game, then win the late game with Gul'dan while Maloriak can only draw one card per turn to deal with your full board + crazy hero power.
Mulligan Guide
Mulligan for anything that costs 2 or less, and if you have a decent 2 cost card, you can aim for cards that cost 3+.
Early Game
Early game, you just need to survive. You should not save VIcious Scalehide for lifesteal when you can just kill his mana wyrm on the spot. The game isn't completely lost if Release the Aberrations! is played in the first few turns, but your chance to win is pretty low, so I'd recommend just restarting. After all, you're just looking to win once, and you'll get more value from your time if you reset.
Mid Game, Late Game and Managing your Voidlords
At this point in the match (usually turns 6-7), you've exited the early game, and while you're not home free quite yet, you have some breathing room. If you have sense demons in hand, you can probably find some space around now to play your sense demons. While this may seem crazy, I would strongly recommend using sacrificial pact on your own Voidlords if you haven't seen a Polymorph yet. Voidlords are the main part of your win condition in conjunction with Gul'dun, and 9/3s aren't very useful. In addition to that, Maloriak doesn't really have a way to clear the board, so 3/1s are deceptively powerful.
The late game begins when you draw Gul'dan. One of your Voidlords might get polymorphed, but your hero power combined with the board swing of Gul'dan should end the game.
Card Replacements/Additional Options
The only notable card I'm missing that might be worth trying is Mal'Ganis, as 7/9 is pretty good, but it ends up being even worse against Polymorph than Voidlord and reduces Sense Demons Consistency. Besides for the demon core, any low-cost removals can be substituted in to replace other cards, with spirit bomb and Nerubian egg feeling the weakest overall.
Useful Information
Maloriak's decklist, courtesy of the Hearthstone wiki:
- Release the Aberrations! x2
- Mana Wyrm x2
- Counterspell x2
- Duplicate x2
- Polymorph x2
- Drain Life x2
- Imp-losion x2
- Voidwalker x2
- Acidic Swamp Ooze x2
- Crazed Alchemist x2
- Mad Scientist x2
- Flesheating Ghoul x2
- Faceless Manipulator x2
- Sludge Belcher x2
- Drakonid Crusher x2
- If you use Corrupting Mist with a taunt up, Maloriak will not attack or remove taunt minions that are affected, even if they have enough minions to get through the taunts. This is especially relevant with Voidlord, as you get to keep the 3/1s afterward.
- You should generally avoid playing Worthless Imps until late game due to anti-synergy with Gul'dan, though if you're still struggling for board control, don't hesitate to play it.
Conclusion
That's about it! I might make some minor edits here and there, and will occasionally update the deck if the new expansion releases something particularly powerful. Please leave a like if you found this helpful, and feel free comment if you have any suggestions or just feel like saying something. May RNGesus be with you!
Also, I didn't have a good place to put this, but fun fact: Ever since Faceless Manipulator was changed to not work with Jungle Giants, it has also no longer worked with Maloriak's hero power, so faceless is no longer nearly as threatening as it used to be.
I have never played this boss on heroic till today. I used your decklist. I know its old. It currently works well. I'm not a super exp. Player. It's 2023 Titans just came out to hearthstone. I cleared this boss with your deck on second try on heroic. That's shows how consistent it is to me. For a new player as myself to beat hardest boss in hearthstone on second try. You should make some ladder decks too. I know they a lot of great players that are unknown. Anyhow. Thanks a ton for the list you shared. I hope you still make decks and play the game.
This deck needs a lot more upvotes, I tried the other ones, and this one is by far the most consistent
No need to craft Voidlord if you dont have it anymore like me. Just include the cheaper Enhanced Dreadlord and the Enslaved Fel Lord. I also included Free Admission for cheaper demons early on, as well as Soul Fragment generators Soul Shear and School Spirits.
Here's my decklist:
# 2x (0) Sacrificial Pact
# 2x (1) Corruption
# 2x (1) Power Overwhelming
# 2x (2) Drain Soul
# 2x (2) Soul Shear
# 2x (3) Drain Life
# 2x (3) Free Admission
# 2x (3) School Spirits
# 2x (3) Sense Demons
# 2x (3) Shadow Bolt
# 2x (4) Hellfire
# 2x (4) Voidcaller
# 1x (5) Siphon Soul
# 2x (7) Enslaved Fel Lord
# 2x (8) Enhanced Dreadlord
# 1x (10) Bloodreaver Gul'dan

Thank you! After many tries with other decks I got it with this one after just a few restarts.
thanks man, even with the nerf to giggling inventor, this deck still worked
But, as others have said, if he plays release the abberrations! early, you should just restart.
i had to restart like 10 times before he didnt coin release the abberrations!
once again, thank you for making this great deck and i hope you keep the good work up!
Got him on the 2nd attempt, BRM is the only one I have not completed yet glad I found this and ty for sharing.
Thank you! I've never even tried any heroic BRM bosses, but I had this guide bookmarked and since the Giggling nerfs are incoming, I gave a try to heroic Maloriak. Got it on my first try with this deck (with some luck too, probably).
Only difference is, I didn't want to craft Corpsetaker so I used 2x Chain Gang instead.
This deck doesn't work, about 30 tries in. This boss is a joke.
I'm sorry that it didn't work for you, but I've been consistently successful with it.
