Hello! I am back with another improved Heroic decklist, this time for the bane of everyone's existence, Maloriak!

General Strategy

Your objective with this deck is to stall out Maloriak's early game, then win the late game with Gul'dan while Maloriak can only draw one card per turn to deal with your full board + crazy hero power.

Mulligan Guide

Mulligan for anything that costs 2 or less, and if you have a decent 2 cost card, you can aim for cards that cost 3+.

Early Game

Early game, you just need to survive. You should not save VIcious Scalehide for lifesteal when you can just kill his mana wyrm on the spot. The game isn't completely lost if Release the Aberrations! is played in the first few turns, but your chance to win is pretty low, so I'd recommend just restarting. After all, you're just looking to win once, and you'll get more value from your time if you reset.

Mid Game, Late Game and Managing your Voidlords

At this point in the match (usually turns 6-7), you've exited the early game, and while you're not home free quite yet, you have some breathing room. If you have sense demons in hand, you can probably find some space around now to play your sense demons. While this may seem crazy, I would strongly recommend using sacrificial pact on your own Voidlords if you haven't seen a Polymorph yet. Voidlords are the main part of your win condition in conjunction with Gul'dun, and 9/3s aren't very useful. In addition to that, Maloriak doesn't really have a way to clear the board, so 3/1s are deceptively powerful.

The late game begins when you draw Gul'dan. One of your Voidlords might get polymorphed, but your hero power combined with the board swing of Gul'dan should end the game.

Card Replacements/Additional Options

The only notable card I'm missing that might be worth trying is Mal'Ganis, as 7/9 is pretty good, but it ends up being even worse against Polymorph than Voidlord and reduces Sense Demons Consistency. Besides for the demon core, any low-cost removals can be substituted in to replace other cards, with spirit bomb and Nerubian egg feeling the weakest overall.

Useful Information

Maloriak's decklist, courtesy of the Hearthstone wiki:

  • If you use Corrupting Mist with a taunt up, Maloriak will not attack or remove taunt minions that are affected, even if they have enough minions to get through the taunts. This is especially relevant with Voidlord, as you get to keep the 3/1s afterward.
  • You should generally avoid playing Worthless Imps until late game due to anti-synergy with Gul'dan, though if you're still struggling for board control, don't hesitate to play it.

Conclusion

That's about it! I might make some minor edits here and there, and will occasionally update the deck if the new expansion releases something particularly powerful. Please leave a like if you found this helpful, and feel free comment if you have any suggestions or just feel like saying something. May RNGesus be with you!

Also, I didn't have a good place to put this, but fun fact: Ever since Faceless Manipulator was changed to not work with Jungle Giants, it has also no longer worked with Maloriak's hero power, so faceless is no longer nearly as threatening as it used to be.
