RoS update! So I just thought I would post a quick Rise of Shadows meta update to what has proven to be my most popular deck on Hearthpwn. Below are some explanations about the changes. Leaving the original copy for posterity.
So the main thing I did, to be blunt, was to make it hella greedier. I added 3 new legendaries:
I also changed up the ramp cards because of the nerfs. No Wild Growth, no Nourish. Added Greedy Sprites.
Since Keeper Stalladris is in the deck now, I changed out some cards to add more synergy for the choose one spells. Notably dropped a copy of Spreading Plague and added two Starfall. Kun the Forgotten King is back for this reason too.
I've put Poison Seeds back in there because it's great against the early big minions and mechs mages, rogues, hunters and warriors are playing. But gone are other defensive cards like the copies of Giggling Inventor and Ferocious Howl. I've kept Zilliax for now but I'm not sure he's needed. He's saved me a few times though.
With Floop in the deck, you have two potential copies of all your legendaries. Vargoth is nuts with the spell recasts. With all the ramp in the deck, you can easily pull off silly combos pretty early like Fandral, Elekk, Jade Idol for 8 mana on turn 6. Stalladris+Fandral and Jade Idol is only 7 mana. I have used 30 mana in one turn numerous times (spend 10 mana, kill Twig, play Kun, play Ultimate Infestation). If you're holding Floop you could spend 40 in one turn. Haven't managed that yet. Current win rate is 71%, but the sample size isn't big enough. I'll update with more stats once I've played a few more dozen games.
Hi gang!
Wanted to highlight a deck I used to climb quickly from Rank 25 to Rank 12 in Wild format this season. My overall winrate with the deck is 66%, which includes matches where I was just getting a feel for the deck. Will attach screenshots for proof below.
In all my ladder climbing, I did not encounter another Jade Druid deck that functions the way this one does, so I think it's worth letting others see it given it's success. The main difference between this deck and other Jade decks is it uses Augmented Elekk to shuffle in extra copies of Jade Idol. This ensures a higher chance of drawing additional Idols. With so many additional cards in the deck, Ultimate Infestationand Twig of the World Tree provide great opportunities to refill your hand and lay down loads of Jade Golems. You will regularly make full use of both UIs.
Additional new inclusions are the 2 copies of Giggling Inventor. Obviously this is a great stall card and can allow you time to lay down Fandral Staghelm or Elekks and get some value out of those + your "choose one" cards. Zilliax is included because he's just a great value card that can regen some health when you're taking more face damage than you like, and in some situations it may be useful to magnetize him to an Annoy-o-Tron from the inventors.
My strategy is usually to hopefully have an Elekk in hand to shuffle in 6 copies of Jade Idol with my first Idol play. Situationally, you may want to use the first idol to summon a golem, but in my experience, it was usually better to hold it, especially if I had other Jade cards in hand to get the golems rolling.
I sometimes wondered if 2 inventors and 2 copies of Spreading Plague were too much stall/defense, but having 4 in deck kind of insures you'll have protection when you need it.
Must include cards:
Ramp package:
# 2x (2) Wild Growth
# 2x (3) Jade Blossom
# 2x (5) Nourish
Shuffle package:
# 2x (3) Augmented Elekk
Jade package:
# 1x (6) Aya Blackpaw
# 2x (6) Jade Behemoth
# 2x (1) Jade Idol
Defense package:
# 2x (3) Ferocious Howl
# 2x (4) Swipe
# 2x (6) Spreading Plague
# 1x (7) Malfurion the Pestilent
Card draw package:
# 1x (4) Branching Paths
# 2x (10) Ultimate Infestation
Optional Cards:
# 1x (4) Fandral Staghelm I ran the deck successfully without him for numerous ranks, but ultimately decided why not put him in since I have him?
# 1x (4) Twig of the World Tree The weapon is a great choice because it enables sick combos that you can regularly pull off, and because your opponents are not expecting you to run the Twig in a Jade deck, and will often throw down their Ooze early, if they are running one at all. However, I believe the deck would work without it.
# 2x (5) Giggling Inventor In some losses, I felt like having too many stall minions on the board may have hindered me. I think dropping these could be possible, but have not tried the deck without them personally.
# 1x (5) Zilliax Great value card, but not strictly necessary

Gadgetzan works pretty great with twig, too. floop is also an option
Yeah, I don't have Floop yet. ):
A suitable replacement, sure. I don't know that I would go as far as better though, because with Kun, you spend all 10 mana of the first turn playing just him. With Twig, your initial 10 mana can be spent on better things. UI, namely. So you use UI, refill your hand with 10 super useful cards, many of them Jade Idols, then you pop Twig, and flood the board with big minions. This is not possible with Kun. Granted, Kun can't be removed early like Twig, but as I said, I didn't run into weapon removal much, and when I did, most threw it down early when they saw I was running a Jade deck - which doesn't usually run Twig.
Any replacement for twig?
I imagine Kun the Forgotten Kingwould actually be a better option.
Twig is there to combo with UI to fill your hand and fill the board with minions, ideally large golems. No replacement will be as strong as Twig. Kun could be an okay replacement, although he doesn't enable as big of a combo. Any card draw or mana refilling cards (i.e. Biology Project) could be subbed in, although I doubt the deck will perform as well. An additional Branching Paths is probably a decent option as well.
Fandral with elekks seems a bit like overkill:>
The goal of the Elekks is to increase the amount of idols in the deck, and therefore greatly increase the likelihood you draw an idol from the deck, allowing you to flood the board with big golems much faster. The synergy with UI and Twig is really powerful when you get the draw you need. Fandral is in the deck to operate how he does in all other Jade decks. It isn't often you'll have both Fandral and an Elekk on the board at the same time, although it does happen.
