Hello dear Hearthpwners! This is Toumouniek and I'm here to share an in-depth guide on how to pilote Toast's Mechathun Evenlock. I got 82% winrate from rank 4 to Legend, easiest Legend of my life!

I think this deck has so much potential, but only because it goes under the radar, so I'm secretly hoping this deck doesn't get too well known. I believe Toast did make the deck although I've only seen him play it once, and I haven't seen him play it since. This is the Twitch VOD link so you guys can check out some actual gameplay, although I think he didn't master the deck completely (because he didn't play it that much) : https://www.twitch.tv/videos/304121506

Unlike the last deck guide I made, I didn't record my stats and the sample is quite small (only 22 games). The reason the sample is so small is because the deck is so strong. I got legend so fast, only lost 4 times with this deck.
I do recall some facts about my experience though :
Out of the 22 games, I pulled the Mechathun combo 5 times.
Out of the 4 losses, only one loss could have been a win if I had played classic Evenlock (the Mechathun package is well worth it, believe me)
My 4 losses were against : 1 zoolock, 1 Deathrattle Hunter, 1 Malygos Druid, 1 Token Druid.
Although I have won several times against these decks, especially zoolock where I must have something like 7-1 against it.
Very difficult matchups which I barely won, and I think are not favorable are Quest Rogue and Hadronox Druid.

What's so great about this deck? The Consistency.
I share something with a lot of you, I get quite frustrated when I lose. If the game was close, that I got outvalued, out aggroed, missplayed etc I get a little sad. But what really destroys my moral is when I wasn't even able to play. When you draw so badly, you just lose without even able to stand for yourself. As a Control Deck player, was pleases me the most is the consistency which offers Evenlock. Yes you can get no giants, or no drakes, but that is quite rare as you often have 9-10 cards in your hand by turn 3-4, a third of your deck! Without even counting the mulligan. This is the most satisfying deck I've ever played by far.

This deck is so logical in it's build, I don't know why people haven't been farming it. For Mecha'thun's conditions to be fulfilled, you must empty your deck, your board and your hand. Cataclysm is the only card in the game capable of doing both emptying hand and board. What's left? Emptying your deck. Oh lucky you, every combo part costs an Even amount of mana, guess you can play Genn and have a 1 mana hero power to empty your deck as fast as you can! It just makes so much sense.

General Strategy :

For General Strategy on how to pilote this deck against decks you'll beat straight up with board presence such as aggro decks, mid range decks, or some combo decks, I suggest you look up some nice guides about classic Evenlocks.

I'll only talk about the matchups that change :
Evenlock is already one of the most polyvalent deckss out there. You have no straight losses against any decks. There are some harder matchups than others, but none that are so drastic you could concede immediately. With some early giants and drakes, any matchup is good. Especially aggro.
The decks it did suffer the most against were heavy control decks such as Odd Warrior, Big Mage and Shudderwock Shaman. Well now, they might actually be the easiest matchups thanks to the Mecha'thun Package.

One important thing to understand with this deck when facing opponents you need to pull-off the Mechathun combo on, is that camouflage is your greatest ally. Never play your Galvanizers unless you'll pull off the combo the turn after. This is because unless they know you have the combo, they won't try to kill you with their minions or whatever and will play defensive, which is to our advantage.
For those new to this combo, you have to play both Galvanizers to reduce Mecha'thun's cost to 8. And once your deck is empty, play Mecha'thun + Bloodbloom + Cataclysm. Your deck is empty and Cataclysm will empty both your hand and board, filling the conditions for Mecha'thun to blow your opponent up!
Against these heavy control decks, try tapping every turn, even if it means doing suboptimal plays. Emptying your deck is your win condition.

NOTES :

Using Bloodbloom with a spell DOES NOT upgrade your spellstones. I think it's a stupid card interaction but that's how it is.

Don't mind using your combo pieces against aggro decks if needed, your win condition is now just winning on board and with Bloodreaver Gul'dan's help. Bloodbloom is a great spell by the way, sometimes it will get you lethals :

Adapt. If somehow you lose Cataclysm, everything isn't lost. Empty your hand and you can use Siphon Soul or Twisting Nether as an alternative. Example of that against a Togwaggle Druid I faced :

Never surrender, you never know what you can beat with this deck, even Hadronox Druids :

CARD DISCUSSION :

I know there are draw-heavy mechathun decks out there, but believe me they are 100 times weaker to the meta. Not only is this deck super powerful against aggro, but the camouflage as an evenlock is very precious. Use it well. So no draw cards are needed in this deck, forget about it.

Lich King, which is present in classic Evenlock, is to me not that usefull. It may give you that extra value card in some scenarios, but on a greater number of games it's not that useful in this deck that operates differently.

Silence minions such a spellbreaker was thought of, but I couldn't find a card that is simply less effective in this deck. The least effective minions in the deck I think are the plated beatles, but even they are very very good against aggro and as a 2-drop.

The only real card I hesitated a lot to replace a beetle with is Shadowflame. It gives good clear, and is always good with stuff like Giants. But I believe it would be a little too gready, and this deck has way enough board clears to fight off aggro, and has often board control in other matchups. Your choice, but I'd recommend keeping the plated beatles.

I hope you like the deck, and win a lot with it. Don't share it too much though ;)

PS : Sorry, I don't know why, but I couldnt upload the pictures directly this time, so I left the links as is :/
