Come in and Warm your Frozen Boots by the Fire!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gunnolf, and I am originally from the Land Down Under a.k.a. Australia. I am an avid gamer that has acquired a real passion for card games, which originated from my humble beginnings as a Yu-Gi-Oh collector and eventually grew from my dabbling in Cardfight Vanguard and Buddyfight, until we reached the game we know as Hearthstone.

I've played Hearthstone since the days of classic, with multiple accounts on both EU and NA servers. Despite having reached the Rank of Legend and my own personal mentality of equating 'having fun' with 'winning', I am not really a fan of meta power-grinding & net-decking, not that there is anything wrong with that. Therefore, I enjoy thinking about new, cool and fun deck ideas that push boundaries while also allowing you to win and those are what I want to share with you guys every-time I post a decklist.

I have presently become a contributing writer to WILDHS and will be posting articles there on a semi-regular basis, regarding deck-archetypes the status of the meta as well as how to get the most fun out of this game even if you aren't a big spender. If any of this sounds interesting, then I highly recommend that you check out of the website, as the writers and the owner himself are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet with great in-game knowledge (link to be website can be found HERE). You can also follow me on Twitter for latest updates.

If you genuinely like my content and would like to see me produce more of it, then please consider supporting me on Patreon. This is by no means necessary but it will definitely help me out in the long run. Thanks for Reading ^^

Deck Introduction

Hey guys and welcome back for another deck. Sorry if I was a little late this time around but I've been experience some deck-builder's burnout. Hopefully I'll get over it soon. Anyway, I dislike Even Shaman. It's not that the deck is bad, far from it, but there is nothing to look forward to. So I devised this deck and has the similar lines of aggressive play as even shaman in addition to a very satisfying combo finisher as various cards feed off of each other resulting in true synergy (yes that was a stab at Thing from Below). So without anymore ado, I present to you my fusion hybrid of token and aggro shaman.

Card Choices and Deck-building Explained

In this section, I will explain some of the card choices I opted for and the reasoning as to why they were included over potential counter-parts.

1) Devolve: Since druid is continuing its oppression, it tends to be the deck to beat, mostly because of Spreading Plague which usually is 100% neutralised thanks to this card.

2) Ancestral Knowledge: Probably the most reliable draw engine that shaman can utilise at the moment. Additionally, the card has a few overload synergy cards which merit increasing the amount of overload cards found in the deck.

3) Thunderhead: This is one if not THE core card of the deck since it's capable of reloading our board from close to nothing and thus setting up Bloodlust lethals.

4) Electra Stormsurge: By far one of if not the MVP of the deck as she can be used as a draw, damage and board clear engine.

5) Flamewreathed Faceless: It is not exactly intuitive to fit such a huge minion into what is effectively a token deck. However, that's exactly why I made this hybrid deck. It's meant to put your opponent off guard since such lists typically don't run Bloodlust.

(At the present time, only a few cards have been listed but I will include more if questions pop-up within the comments section regarding substitutions and why other cards were included.)

Alternate Card Inclusions

In my honest opinion, the list as presented to you, is as refined as possible and decently teched to the meta game. However, there are always small alterations that can be made in very specific slots be they for F2P purposes or just for the ability to go wider.

a) -2x Jade Claws | +2x Stormforged Axe
Not much to say here. Clearly a F2P option but i'd strongly recommend crafting the claws since they provide the body

b) -2x Ancestral Knowledge | +2x Cult Master
The latter is a great card in this deck and when it draws you cards, you can sometimes just win the game off of that value. However, most of the times it ended up being a win more which is why I cut it for knowledge. Still merit in including her.

c) -2x Flamewreathed Faceless | +2x Feral Spirit
This card does not allow you to go as tall as the former one does however, it can protect your key minions and has synergy with Electra Stormsurge. They are more vulnerable to board clears though.

d) -1x Aya Blackpaw or -1x Giggling Inventor | +1x Loatheb or Leeroy Jenkins
Both are fantastic reload cards. However, sometimes board protection is key. There was never really a circumstance for me really that I thought if I had just protect my board for one more turn I could have won but such a scenario may come up in the future so there is definite merit in including him. The latter suggestions is clearly for burst purposes

e) -2x Maelstrom Portal | +2x Crackle or +2x Lava Shock or +2x Lightning Bolt or +2x Lightning Storm
These changes are not really recommended since we do have a lot of aggro running around trying to counter druid but in a more control styled meta adding in some burn will be extremely warranted.

f) -2x Mecharoo | +2x Haunted Creeper
I like the cheaper body so I can get quicker onto the board but if you want to make the list a little heavier, then creeper is your best token choice.

g) -2x Voltaic Burst | +2x finder's keepers
The sparks from this card and Thunderhead tend to be what carry this deck. However, in leu of the spell you can choose to create more overload cards in order to have more fuel for your thunderheads.

Draw Engine

This is a little bit pre-emptive on my part as I know it will come up. I lightly touched upon the draw engine above and stated that I think Ancestral Knowledge with maybe Cult Master as a back-up are the two best draw engines right now. However, BOOMSDAY gave us one specific card for tutoring spells like Bloodlust in the form of Storm Chaser. I experimented a hell of a lot with this card and honest, it's just not good enough. 9/10 times when I would play it, it would trigger alarm bells in my opponent's head and they would immediately board clear my minions which is why I don't even run it at one. But please do feel free to try it out and report back if you had a different experience. As stated above on paper it's Godlike but in practice it's questionable.

Small Mulligan Guide

The bread and butter of this list is Tunnel Trogg into either Totem Golem or Jade Claws. Either way it's a fantastic opener. Further to the above though firefly, Mecharoo and Flametongue Totem are all keeps as well.

Against druid, keeping devolve is manadatory in order to ensure you can at least get passed their first Spreading Plague. Similarly, Maelstrom Portal is a keep against paladin.

In control match-ups sometimes keeping Thunderhead is warranted as long as you have your turn 1 & 2 planned out.

Other BOOMSDAY Decks

If you like shaman or just BOOSMDAY in general as an expansion, then make sure to check out my other deck's below. They may not be as competitive as this list but they are a hell of a lot of fun to play.

Author's Notes

Well guys, as always thank you for checking out another one of my decks. Apologies for the late submission, hopefully my burn-out will end soon and I'll be able to get back to making quality content on a more regular basis. At least this deck hits that perfect sweetspot. It's aggressive but at least not as linear as even shaman tends to be.

I enjoy deck-building a multitude of interesting decks that are both entertaining and Legend viable (with some odd Free-to-Play lists mixed in). So if you like this deck (or anyone of my other ones) consider leaving a thumbs up, as it really helps in the long run! :)

Thank you guys for all your support and if you have any suggestions, let me know.
