Edit on September 10. : I have tried too many little variations of this to make up my mind. percentage wise the deck as of today is the most successful, but I played over 50 games with one less Frostbolt and including Subject 9. ... It had a 52% win rate and I must have enjoyed it since it was by far the most played over the weekend. Not sure any of them will ever be perfect. 

This is very much a WORK IN PROGRESS, and I already have some changes I think I will make. But I've been enjoying this deck in rank 10-8 this morning. It's on version 8 or 9 at the moment of writing 12 hours later. 

Trying to find a workable and more fun/challenging for other players secrets deck in the current meta.  Others before me have pointed out that Explosive Runes is not as useful against all decks as it has been. There are many decks where Spellbender or even [Vaporize present better options. 

I threw this together haphazardly this morning, and have been pleasantly surprised. This is in ranks 10-8, where I'm currently bobbing up and down.  

Explanation, card choices, and mulligan strategies below:

My deck conundrums: 

  • I'm not sure which small clearing spells to keep.  or Shooting Star
  • I'm not sure how much Card draw to put in to supplement Luna and AlunethUpdate: For now I'm keeping Subject 9, Stargazer Luna, and Aluneth
  • Nor am I sure which secrets package works best. I know some get by with only one Counterspell, but I find this a handicap. And Spellbender is perfect against Druids, Priests, and Hunters who keep a cheap spell to test before targeting a minion.  Mirror Entity is also a high contender.
  • I also wish I had room for a Polymorph or other silence mechanism, as I'm really not sure how else to deal with multiple Mechanical Whelps that you cannot stop magnetic battle cries to activate.  I guess you cannot have an answer for everything. 

Mulligans:

General High priority keeps:

  •  Keep Mana Wyrm always - POSSIBLE exception with rogues and others who can do full damage pretty much instantly to a valuable minion.

Hunters:

  • Keep Secretkeeper and/or Arcanologist and Mana Wyrm as possible openers. if you have a secret you would like to use (see secrets section). With coin, you can get a stronger Secretkeeper on turn 2. Without, turn 3. 
  • Play Secretkeeper on Turn 1 against hunters - and mages if you do not have the wyrm. Otherwise try to save it for turn 3 with coin, or turn 4 without in conjunction with Kirin Tor Mage and a secret.

Secret choices in the mulligan:

Hunters, Druids, and Warriors:

Keep Spellbender if it is available. This will catch any Flanking Strike, Shield Bashing, or Swipe/Wrath coming coming your favoirite Mana Wyrm's way.

Mage and Warlocks - sometimes Priest(depending - too complicated to simplify)

 - If you have the Coin and a Kirin Tor Mage as well as Counterspell consider using it on turn 2. It will put a mirror match up on the back foot for a long time, and it will stop any Hellfire
