Come in and Warm your Frozen Boots by the Fire!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gunnolf, and I am originally from the Land Down Under a.k.a. Australia. I am an avid gamer that has acquired a real passion for card games, which originated from my humble beginnings as a Yu-Gi-Oh collector and eventually grew from my dabbling in Cardfight Vanguard and Buddyfight, until we reached the game we know as Hearthstone.
I've played Hearthstone since the days of classic, with multiple accounts on both EU and NA servers. Despite having reached the Rank of Legend and my own personal mentality of equating 'having fun' with 'winning', I am not really a fan of meta power-grinding & net-decking, not that there is anything wrong with that. Therefore, I enjoy thinking about new, cool and fun deck ideas that push boundaries while also allowing you to win and those are what I want to share with you guys every-time I post a decklist.
I have presently become a contributing writer to WILDHS and will be posting articles there on a semi-regular basis, regarding deck-archetypes the status of the meta as well as how to get the most fun out of this game even if you aren't a big spender. If any of this sounds interesting, then I highly recommend that you check out of the website, as the writers and the owner himself are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet with great in-game knowledge (link to be website can be found HERE). You can also follow me on Twitter for latest updates.
If you genuinely like my content and would like to see me produce more of it, then please consider supporting me on Patreon. This is by no means necessary but it will definitely help me out in the long run. Thanks for Reading ^^
Deck Introduction
So mech hunter in general was a very interesting deckbuilding challenge for me. I went through multiple builds including Mechanical Whelp, Carnivorous Cube and Jeeves before finally settling on a Boommaster Flark list. It's hard to classify this deck into one staple category as the playstyle is a tad mixed given its win conditions. If one was forced to classify it, it would be something akin to an aggressive midrange deck with a serious lategame finisher. I personally have had a blast with the deck and even though I personally would not suggest that it's tier 1, it has won me a lot of games. So let's get right into it.
Card Choices and Deck-building Explained
In this section, I will explain some of the card choices I opted for and the reasoning as to why they were included over potential counter-parts.
1) Bomb Toss: 2 mana for 4 damage with a body and the mech tag is pretty good. Doubles up as burst and removal.
2) Metaltooh Leaper: Fantastic mech synergy card that can transform even the weakest of mechs into serious threats. Furthermore allows you to realiably trigger the majority of your bombs.
3) Fungalmancer: Further great synergy with mech tokens that allows for boards to go higher.
4) Houndmaster Shaw: Powerhouse card against multiple decks and in particular vs aggro. The rush effect especially when comboed with cards like Flanking Strike can create immense board swings.
(At the present time, only a few cards have been listed but I will include more if questions pop-up within the comments section regarding substitutions and why other cards were included.)
Alternate Card Inclusions
As it stands, the vast majority of the list is quite rigid and there is very little room for maneuvering. But that being said there are always those few cards that can be swapped in and out to deal with various metas and arising situations. Some work better than others as will be illustrated below:
1) Void Ripper: This card would mainly go into the metaltooth leaper slot and not because the two loosely rhyme with each other. The card allows for instant burst triggering of the bomb deathrattles as well as serving as a decent counter against doomsayer. However, I tend to prefer metaltooh because I don't like surrendering tempo.
2) Feign Death: One copy is already included but you may opt to include even more if you fund your bombs sticking more often than not. In my experience they tend not to which is why I've limited it down to one copy. Note that the deck does well even without feign death so don't feel any pressure to craft it.
3) Wargear: If you want the deck to be a tad more aggressive and mech themed then you can choose to slide in these cards to your list. I personally prefer both Giggling Inventor and Fungalmancer due to the fact that the board can go wider but either or work.
4) Spellbreaker: Silence as a 1-of is decent in any deck to be perfectly honest. Not entirely necessary but something to consider.
I strongly encourage you guys to keep experimenting and comment below with any suggestions. Maybe there is something I haven't considered. Let me know! ;)
Short Mulligan Guide
Considering that this deck is rather peculiar in the way that it functions, the mulligan is an interesting phase as it very much depends on the type of deck you are facing.
Against combo you very much want to act like an aggressive deck and use your minions magnetic functions to pile on stats and star deal face-damage as quickly as possible. Against aggro you typically want to go wide and look for those quick swing turns with Flanking Strike and Deathstalker Rexxar. Against control you fucntion similarly to aggro i.e. seeking out a quick win before inevitably having to fall back on rexxar and flark burn.
Cards you want against aggro & combo include but are not limited to Mechwarper, Mecharoo, Flanking Strike. Bomb Toss and Houndmaster Shaw. Against control Deathstalker Rexxar is usually your number 1 priority alongside Stitched Tracker.
I'll update this after conducting more playtesting.
More BOOMSDAY Decks
As I am sure my more dedicated readers know, this is not my first deck for this expansion. Below find a couple more that are equally if not more competitive and fun to play with. Mech Secret Paladin is my personal favorite but Malygos Eureka Shaman does pack a real kick as well. Enjoy and let me know how it goes! ^^

Author's Notes
Well guys, thank you for checking out this deck. It took me a while to settle on a build that was more than just semi-competitive but I think I was finally able to pull through with this BOOM build. I think it's pretty safe to say that this can most definitely hit rank 5 despite the Druids but when it comes to hitting Legend more grind testing is required.
I enjoy deck-building a multitude of interesting decks that are both entertaining and Legend viable (with some odd Free-to-Play lists mixed in). So if you like this deck (or anyone of my other ones) consider leaving a thumbs up, as it really helps in the long run! :)
Thank you guys for all your support and if you have any suggestions, let me know.
He's really good in the deck and hunter in general but if you don't have the dust to craft him then you can just add a tech card to deal with the meta. ^^
Replacing Flark with good old Dr. Boom?
You can although that way you lose a significant amount of face damage. If you do, then I recommend cutting Feign Death for a second Fireworks Tech! :)
awesome deck, I was running something similar in standard and wanted something like this for wild, got me to rank 5 almost undefeated.
That's awesome well at least we know for sure now that it's Dad-Legend Viable haha
Hey bro gunnolf great deck, but what do u think about mossy horror instead of feign, OK you have said that feign death is not a must so this card can replace it , right?
Yeah Mossy Horror could work too. Void Ripper as well or you could just go with another Fireworks Tech. There are tons of ways to activate the bombs with Metaltooth Leaper, magnetic and Stitched Tracker getting you more activators. it's just a tiny bit more burst ;)
Is it possible to replace Houndmaster Shaw?
If so, with what is best? Could we run Baron Rivendare? And also, what is the win rate with this deck at what ranks?
It's quite hard to replace him to be honest. He's not a key card by any stretch of the imagination since the deck functions without him but he's very useful in multiple match-ups.
In terms of a replacement. You can try the following and see what works out best for you: Baron Rivendare, 2nd Fireworks Tech, 1x Void Ripper, 1x Spellbreaker.
Winrate is approximately 56% at ranks 4-2. Not quite as good as my Mech Paladin but that one does a lot better against druid :p
Hi Gunnolf,
Just reporting back again, I can’t really figure out how to win consistently. I realise it’s meant to be an OTK with Flark and Feign of Death or a spam of lots of mechs to play aggressively, but I walkways seem to run out of resources by turn 6/7, the deck just doesn’t have any draw to keep hand size up. And sometimes top decking cards doesn’t always work. I did end up making my own version of a Boommaster Flark OTK which has a little more draw which seems to be doing alittle better and was wondering if there was ways to improve either deck.
Don't play it as an OTK deck. I always played it out as a tempo/midrange deck and just use Feign Death for burst, which is primarily why I only run one copy. It is a complicated bugger to get used to no doubt but it all strictly depends on the match-up. Typically against control as strange as it sounds you want to keep Deathstalker Rexxar as I almost never expect to win those games early. Against aggro you don't always need much draw because you tend to go dead even against Odd Rogue and Even shaman and dumping your hand against odd paladin is typically quite good since Divine Favor just becomes dead.
I hope this helps a fraction. :/
