Update 12.08.2018: This deck can be currently found on HSReplay.
If you feel like you can pilot Control decks, let me introduce you to my Boomsday take on Control Warrior!
I tried few decks already but this so far performed really well. It looks like while pure Mech Warrior is not powerfull in Wild. The Control Warrior which uses Dr. Boom, Mad Genius however. was slaying ladder for me. So far I have 24-7 with this deck and it really feels like Warrior is doing something powerfull.
Mulligan
Aggro: Mountainfire Armor, Weapons Project, Warpath, Blood Razor. If you feel confident enough Mossy Horror for mid-game turn 6
Midrange: Execute,Shield Block, Mountainfire Armor, Weapons Project, Warpath, Blood Razor, Brawl
Combo and Control: Dirty Rat, Shield Block,Brawl, Shieldslam or Execute. Coldlight Oracle, Dr. Boom, Mad Genius
The list below features the most imnportant cards in the deck which make this deck rewarding to play and interesting to play:
Weapons Project : This is a solid card for Control Warrior for controlling the board early. Also it is pretty good weapon removal for Skull,Aluneth and Kingsbane
Dead Man's Hand This card allows you to go infinite. And it is pretty good wincondition against Rogues that are trying to do the same)
Skulking Geist Don't want Jade Druid to go infinite? Do you hate when Inner Fire buffs fat Priest minion and hurts your face? Do you really hate those Deadly Poisons from Kingsbane Rogue? Skulking Geist is amazing solution! Now only for 400 dust!
Mossy Horror: Nothing to say. Tech card against small minions and Spreading Plague
Dirty Rat: Don't you hate when opponent tries to do some op combo? I mean who doesn't right? Well Dirty Rat can solve that problem and pull important combo piece or strong wincondition.
Dr. Boom, Mad Genius: Nothing to say. Warrior finally got late game focused Hero card and its amazing.
N'Zoth, the Corruptor: I think it's pretty obvious that your opponents is gonna loose when you swarm your board with endless N'Zoths. ;)
Flexible cards:
Coldlight Oracle can be easily replaced by the Acolyte of Pain. It all depends on the local meta that you are facing. Are you facing more Aggro,Tempo and Midrange decks? Then Acolyte is definitelly better. Are you facing Mill,Combo and Control decks? Then Coldlight is better.
It is true that this deck is really tricky to play in terms of managing the resources and answers for your opponents threats. Congratulations with hitting Legend! I'm really glad that this is another deck that is Legend worthy)
I guess we don't have the right meta for a Control Warrior to rise yet. I've tried the deck and went straight 0-3 against mech paladin and bomb hunters. It's probably too weak against aggressive decks...
How? My current losses with this deck are because of the Gnomeferatus or Druid drawing and ramping too fast. I've encountered Even Shamans and Oddladins and they were all a win for me. And how does Aggro managed to get to your face trough all these boardclears,Armor and Taunts and N'Ztoh and such?
I didn't manage to play N'Zoth, the Corruptor in any game... maybe I got bad draws? I'm giving the deck one more chance
If you have decktrackes you can record the games. Send me them into my DMs so maybe I can analyze them and say if there were any missplays. Also what version are you running? With 2 Acolytes or 2 Coldlights?
I'm running the version with 2 acolytes. Right now I can't use a deck tracker, but I will send some data, thanks. Hopefully I'm doing something wrong because it's been years that I want to play Control Warrior and I wanted to take this chance.
Ok. I will be waiting for somew data ^^
https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1163589-finally-control-warrior-that-we-deserve?comment=10 <- This will answer your question abvout Sneeds and deathrattle mechs in general
I know this deck is not easy to pilot. Maybe thats why you don't have success with it. The deck that can actually have a chance against any other deck out there simply can't be kind of bad. What matchups have you encountered? How did you play? What cards are underwhelming for you? Replacing few cards based on your local meta is always good thing to do. I play this deck mostly on my main EU account on rank 5-4 and here the meta is kinda slow so I run 2 Coldlights instead of Acolytes. But when meta turns more aggresive, i will replace them with Acolytes. Try doing similar things and tweak some cards based on the decks that are surrounding you.
Current winconditions are:
1.Going infinite with DMH and N'Zoth to completelly overwhelm your opponent
2.Disrupting your opponents wincondition trough Rats and Geist
3.Exhausting your opponents trough boardclears and removals until he runs out of cards in hand. Then overwhelming him
(4). If you run Coldlights, there is Mill wincondition trough infinite deck thanks to DMH.
What mechs would you like to put in a Control Warrior and what cards would you want to replace? Also Omega Assemly is ironically good in this deck before turn 10 for board contesting. But in late game you are looking for drawing, removing and pressuring. Omega Assembly has anti synergy with DMH and Geist which is crucial in Control Wild decks.
I love the deck it's so mich fun and is almost an auto-win agaist some aggro decks like odd paladin. I made a replacement that is -1 battle rage -1 acolyte and +2 coldlight oracle. Some control deck go deep into fatigue so oracle helps. I would like to put brann somewhere in here do you know where it would fit?
And definetly an upvote this is the most fun I've had since I started during un'goro!
I wouldn't really recommend to put Brann in here for the Mill plan but if you fell like you need him then probably instead of the Mossy Horror
Also thank you for the feedback) Im glad one of my decks could bring you so much fun and joy :D
Great Deck!
Thank you man! ^^
If youre afraid that your opponent might mill you. Dump some card draw. And removals too. That way you negotiate the mill. Mill decks tend to not have many big threats so that means that your 1 Warpath can remove all thier minions already. You don't need to hold more boardclears. 1 is enough. Since they are also drawing you cards in order to try to mill you, don't draw cards by yourself. Also DMH just completely negotiates all their Mill plan.
Sylvannas is just a good minion that gives you board presence. First N'Zoth that comes into play can have 2 Armor, 2 Belchers and 1 Sylvannas at best. Combination of these deathrattles is really tricky for your opponent to clear since Belchers summon another minion, Armor heals you for 12, and Sylvannas might steal something from their board. That way even if they clear your board you still gain a huge profit. With every next N'Zoth that comes into play your opponent is more exhausted. There will be a breakpoint where your opponent just cant answer all your N'Zoths and other shennanigans. And when this time will come, you will just overwhelm him. I'm not even speaking about the fact that first N'Zoth puts 24 attack into play which is pretty life threatening if not cleared. So overall Sylvannas helps contest the board, she gives you presence when summoned by N'Zoth and her Deathrattle is good overall.
Do you think there is anyway to put more deathrattle mechs into the deck that way they synergise with Dr. Boom more? Feels like a waste of potential to not use it.
A huge probelm for this strategy is: what do you cut? Im currently 11-3 with this deck and every card feels crucial. Even Mossy Horror forced Druid to concede. Also what deathrattle mechs do you want to include for N'Zoth and Boom synergy?Harvest Golem is worse than Mountainfire Armor. Mechanical Whelp and Piloted Sky Golem are 6 mana cards that have no immediate impact if played before boom. And their only "synergistic combo" is with Dr.Boom. Sneed's old Shredder is bad cause it is 8 mana card. 8+ mana card is really powerfull if you cheait it out early but we have no way to do that. The only reasonable choice left is Piloted Shredder since you don't want to run Clockwork Gnome either. But what do you cut? I honestly don't know
Going to be honest, I remembered there being a lot more deathrattle mechs then there actually are. My bad.
I think that I forget only one Deathrattle mech which is Piloted Reaper which is clearly no no due to having anti synergy with Dirty Rat :P
Thoughts on Omega Assembly? Trying an altered version of your deck to include it
The irony is that in this deck it is better before turn 10. In late game you want to remove, draw, put pressure trough NZoth and Boom, while in early and mid game you are looking for reaching the end game. There it can be really good for board contesting or pressuring your opponent, but if you play it at 10 mana your hand will be too overwhelmed by it. Also it has anti synergy with Geist which is crucial in Control decks.
