Cards needed for the combo:
Bring It On! and Azalina Soulthief are the core cards.
After opponent play Shudderwock, he gets 1/1 copy. First, we play Bring It On! then play Azalina Soulthief.
Finally, we get INFINITE 0 mana Shudderwock.
How do we get armor and heal?
Before doing this combo, you should play Cornered Sentry+Drywhisker Armorer with exact order. (Infinite Armor)
For the heal, you have Lifedrinker.
How do we get rid of extra bodies of Shudderwocks to play it infinite?
Primordial Drake and Blood Razor can do it.
For the other decks:
You can play the deck as classic Taunt Warrior.
The deck specially counters Taunt Druids with Cornered Sentry. Because you give opponent 1/1 beast. This screw up the Witching Hour+Carnivorous Cube combo.
Armor, heal, removals and taunt cards will counter aggro and tempo decks such as Odd Paladin, Zoolock, Tempo Mage, Tempo Rogue and Hunters.
F2P version list for budget:
Shield Slam ->> Execute
Only one copy Bring It On! ->> One copy Slam
Gluttonous Ooze ->> Acidic Swamp Ooze
Honorable Mentions:
The best part about this counter is the cards it takes are good enough on their own and will most likely remain in warrior even if Shudderwock goes away completely. Azalina is simply an amazing card with tremendous value. Playing against maly druid? Steal their maly, spells and armor gain. Playing against BSM? Don't play any minions and steal their removal to blow up their boards. You can out armor them anyways. So many applications, shudderwock is just one.
All the warrior has to do is play a bring it on! and throw out infinite Shudderwocks until the turn timer expires. Also, the combo in warrior was a staple before Shudderwock was even a card. All warrior did was add an Azalina and it has proven valuable in multiple matches, especially against druids where you can steal cards like Hadronox. But hey, if you want to make your deck worse to try countering warrior then be my guest. lol
My opponent did use "bring it on!" to get 0 mana Shudderwocks, but one turn lasts only for so long and you have to wait for Azalina's battlecry to get new Shudderwocks... With 4x Lifedrinker I did way more damage and killed him in one turn, and you don't have to add any tech cards to get 4 Lifedrinkers.
Awesome idea! :)
It's very fun defeat a Shudderwock shaman with their own combo
We'll find a way, beleive me :)
cuz shudderwock already refresh your HP as he replays the sulfuras battlecry so its pointless
this deck works great against basically any deck because you have the quest as your win condition if your opponent isn't shudderwock shaman, I'd suggest you guys give this deck a try it's so fun to get insane armor against shudderwocks :p
btw shudderwock players stop throwing trash on this guy for finding a way of countering shudderwock shaman.
Its funny how one way to counter this strategy of using shudderwock against shudderwock with azalina is with the wock player playing an azalina as well. Since you constantly copy their hand which is constantly a copy of your previous hand (including zero mana shudderwocks), you can technically do infinite damage. At that point it becomes a APM war on which infinite does more damange.
Obviously, this is just for the meme value, unless control based warriors take over the metagame.
Yeah but for the other matchups such as aggro, Blackwald Pixie is not a good choice.
I just played against this deck as Shudderwock and I won with 4x Lifedrinker (Zola, Grumble). It's just too much damage, considering the battlecries of the Control Warrior often don't trigger in the right order. Even if Cornered Sentry comes before Drywhisker Armorer, there's likely a Bloodrazor inbetween who kills the Raptors before you gain armor with Drywhisker.
After the expansion there won't be many Shudderwocks anyway, as people will want to try new decks first, but if Shudderwock will come back after some weeks and if Control Warriors will still be obsessed with the idea to counter Shudderwock with Azalina, then I'd tech in Spirit Echo as the Shaman. How about 6x Lifedrinker? That's 18 damage per mana = 180 damage in one turn. Good luck!
Salty shaman is best shaman
For your question there are three ways to defeat Shudderwock:
1. Finish the quest early and kill the opponent by using hero power before playing Shudderwock
2. Play Lich King and steal Shudderwock or Zola by using Death Grip (The deck has 2 Stonehill Defenders that can give Lich Kings and has also 1 Lich King)
3. If you played 2 Primordial Drakes and 2 Blood Razors. After the opponent plays Shudderwock(not with Grumble), Bring It On+Shield Slam+Azalina combo will give us 1 Shudderwock that will heal us with 2 Lifedrinkers and deal 6 damage every turn so we can clear the opponent's Shudderwocks. Btw do not forget that we have also chance that to gain armor each play. Because of Shudderwock has over draw, eventually ShudderKiller Taunt Warrior will win the match.
What you mentioned work. However, you have to have played both drakes and razors and have Azalina in hand before they play their combo, so it's a pretty tight race to see whether you can find and play all those cards before they start their combo. I would say it's slightly unfavoured then, since shaman draws so quicky (especially if they run hemet). Another way to clear thier shudderwocks is to play King Mosh, which clears their shudderwock board if the battlecry procs after drake or bloodrazor. Just another solution, but king mosh probably doesn't fit too well in taunt warrior.
There is a way actually.
To do it, the warrior must also be running Zola the Gorgon and save is specifically for a Drywhisker Armorer
This means that the warrior will gain 6 armour for each Shudderwock that you have on board since he has 3 Drywhisker Armorer battlecries, and since Shudderwock has 6 attack, the warrior will break even on damage taken and armor gained, thus meaning that eventually, the shaman will lose to fatigue before the warrior as the warrior has access to Dead Man's Hand.
Not only this, if the warrior is also running Marin the Fox it can get even worse for the shaman, as the chest will take up a board space.
This means the warrior will actually gain 6 armor every turn as opposed to breaking even for every chest that the shaman has on their board instead of a Shudderwock.
Edit: Misread a card, removed section about it.
2nd Edit: If the warrior is also playing 2 Primordial Drakes, every 2nd Shudderwock they play will wipe your own Shudderwocks. Meaning that you miss out on a full turn of damage while they still get the armor, meaning they are still gaining armor on the shaman.
The shaman will also have 25% chance to just fail the combo (max 3 saronites with the original 2 you play and one with zola), so the rng will probably balance out somewhat.
We're probably going to have to wait and see if the shudder v. control warrior is a common matchup, and see how the rng does actually play out over thousands of games, and whether there are any card tech choices that nobody is seeing currently that could tip favor to one side or the other.
Do you actually need the Lifedrinkers? Seems like you can just gain infinite armor and he'll eventually concede or die in fatigue, right? I guess they speed the game up a bit...
This is why: (Exactly 10 damage lethal with second Lifedrinker)
You're the man. Kudos to you, kudos to you. Great deck! Btw: what i love the most about it is that each shudder is kinda a 0 mana reset of your heropower on top of all the pandemonium that is goin to fly. Edit2: Ahahaha, isnt there even a minion in wild that has BC make next hero power cost 0? So this would be a true exodia in wild.
isn't double LIfedrinker kind of overkill? If you're playing against Shudder you're already winning anyways, and it's a bad card against other decks
