This is an adaptation of the Witchwood Elemental Mage. The deck has three avenues to victory:
First, you can get off to a quick start with Book of Specters into Mountain Giant on turn three or four. Or otherwise, if you manage to get ahead on board in the early game, compund the issue with elemental synergy (damage and draw effects, mostly).
Secondly, you can win the long game with Frost Lich Jaina. As opposed to Big Spell Mage, which relies heavily on the opponent playing minions for her to turn into Water Elementals, this deck can churn out life stealing elementals proactively after turning into DK.
Thirdly, I've put in a package built around Luna's Pocket Galaxy, with Grand Archivist for potential high roll (getting draw three off the Archivist is no disaster, either), and a few high cost minions to take advantage of the effect. The thought is not to build the deck too reliant on this effect though, and so it is not too heavy with mega minions.
Meteorologist and Astromancer might be terrible. But if they're ever not terrible, it's probably in a deck like this. So let's find out!
Anyways, thoughts and feedback greatly appreciated. Will be testing and adapting this sometime just after the expansion drops, seeing if I can make it work.
There aren't many matchups where Doomsayer would survive on turn 6 or 8, I'd substitute for Saronite Chain Gang or Voodoo Doll
As far as Pocket Galaxy goes, you want to maximize your chances with it to increase the deck's consistency, so I'd remove Book of Specters and put 2 Archivists and Stargazer Luna herself (or Aluneth, to be equipped after Galaxy?).
Maybe a Blizzard or Flamestrike, both for survival and so the Archivist isn't a dead draw after Galaxy is activated.
Also, Astromancer is a bad meme card, remove them for some more tech or for the actual Spiteful Summoner (if you go the Galaxy/Flamestrike route)
I think astromancer is fine, but i believe Meteorologist is not rly good compared to blazecaller
Given how the meta is looking to shape up, with Shuddewocks continuing to Sudderwock, crazy deathrattle combo Hunters and Priests, Druids being downright broken, I see two viable paths for mage:
1. Leveraging the extra Spellpower minions and couple extra small spells to make burn mage even burnier, win matches by turn 5-6.
2. Come up with some crazy Pocket Galaxy combo that basically packs every big legendary in the game together with 2 Archivists and see what comes out of it.
I'm currently playing around with an idea of a burn deck incorporating Goblin Bomb and minions that generate them... will probably not work but who knows (btw you do that by typing [ card ] *card name* [ /card ] (without spaces))
no, no, obviously we'll see some version of hunter (likely Odd) using them, since their new Legendary minion creates 4 of them and they have a lot of new ways to combo deathrattle... but I'm thinking mage: adding a couple of them, throw a Sunfury Protector, create an aggresive defense line (or potentially activating them yourself if you have a Spell Damage minion and Shooting Star - 4dmg to face for 3mana, and a lot of potential draw if you have Luna down). Probably will end up being too cluncky but I enjoy the idea.
