With the rise of Death Rattle hunter and all the counter decks, grinding the ladder has become rather difficult in the meta. This deck is just a fantastic deck. I took it from rank 10- 5 in 2 hrs. The deck has enough of a aggro core that you can easily gain early advantage, and a fair sized mid game, and several end game win conditions that will push you to victory. Now because this is a priest, you can easily drive your opponent crazy.
From IceGirl
This priest deck starts off with what makes the deck so amazing: Cabal Shadow Priest, Shadow Madness, and Sylvanas Windrunner give the deck the ability to steal your opponent’s minions. Normally, such tactics would need a control deck.
In the case of this deck, because of a very aggressive opening that includes Undertaker, Zombie Chow, and Haunted Creeper, its early plays are as fast as any aggro. To play this deck vs. an aggro matchup, you can trade your aggro minions for their aggro minions.
Versus a control deck, use the speed advantage in the early game to damage their life total and then use your control card to prevent a comeback.
Against a midrange or combo-style deck, use your early game for favorable trades and hold onto key cards like Shadow Word: Death, Auchenai Soulpriest, and Circle of Healing as solutions for falling behind on the board to the opponent.
A last word of generic advice: try to not play the card Thoughtsteal on turn 3; it is usually better to play a minion. Thoughtsteal is best played when you have excess mana and no better plays. Also, you can play Thoughtsteal as a way to get information about your opponent’s deck if you are confused in the matchup.
The final thing I want to say is a possible replacement for Sylvanas Windrunner would be The Black Knight.
This deck makes so much fun! Thanks for posting it! And i keep laddering with it.. Now 4-0 against Shaman, Hunter, Zoo and Pala
Am looking forward to a Goblins vs. Gnomes update of this deck, assuming that you plan to do so anyway.
First time playing Priest outside Arena... enjoying this deck VERY much so. As a new player, the easier decks to make/use seem to be zoo, and I went to Rank 7 last season (my first season playing) with one, and had fun using it, but this deck seems so much more durable and fun.
I do however have concerns. I am missing 2 of the Legendaries; Ragnaros and Sylvanas of course. I have little to no dust, and not much to DE minus Hogger and some other epics, but wouldn't even get me one of the Legendaries.
What would you suggest subbing out for the 2? I noticed Faceless was mentioned, but I don't have that either.
As of now, I am subbing in a Mind Control (doesn't get used much it seems), and a 2nd Shadow Madness for some early board control removing.
I do have other cards like Mind Games which could be very good, or quite terrible given RNG. I also have Hogger as mentioned for maybe another Taunt? Or maybe run a Silence? Like an Owl or Spellbreaker?
I really would like to get Sylvanas... but not getting lucky with arena card packs.
Would you consider Hogger instead of 1 Sludge Belcher, it could possibly work well with Kel'Thuzad. Or do you think Hogger costing 1 extra mana and only being a 4/4 is weaker?
EDIT: Played a couple of games and Hogger seems to work well, Power Word: Shield is great to stop most direct damage, and even if lets say a mage uses a Fireball on it, it is still worth imo. Had Kel'Thuzad + Hogger combo two times, it was great.
Substitute for Sylvannas? I don't have the black knight
Hey! Pretty nice deck here, although I made a few changes that seem to be working out for me. I took out 1 loot hoarded and added a second CoH, took out Rag and KT for Ysera and MC. What do you think? I might put KT back in for MC, just not sure Rag really is needed here.
Edit: added back the 2nd loot hoarder and took out 1 cabal shadow priest
I LOVE this deck, i destroy everything except, Handlock, please tell what i need to do to beat handlock, or is this just one of those matchups that is not in priest's favor. I try to rush no go, the giants come out get taunted up and gg, or i try to wait and control to board and deal with him and just end up getting over run by huge taunts. someone please help, i made i to rank 8 last season but to hit a wall of hand locks.
Unless I can Auchenai+CoH and slow their roll at turn 4 (or coin at turn 3), I almost always lose to handlock.
Not sure about handlock. I would consider adding another CoH in for...not sure. Trade out a zombie chow, loot hoarder, or the one haunted creeper. Definitely exchange Sylvanas for The Black Knight. The Cabal Shadow Priest and Shadow Madness might not be very good against Handlock either, perhaps trade them for Holy Fire, and the madness for....a sen'jin? Keep Rag, and maybe trade Kel'Thuzad for something even later, like Ysera or Mind Control...or keep him. It would take a lot of adjustments to make this deck stand more of a chance against Handlock, but it would become slower and worse against other decks.
Just add, The Black Knight and/or 1/2 Big Game Hunter if you are facing a lot of handlock/ramp druid.
Kel'Thuzad is OP. 'Nuff said.
Started rank 9, now rank 15!
I just got a quest to win 5 games with priest, so I searched for a priest deck and found this one.
All I can say is, "WOW!"
I've won 6 games out of 7. I lost to a Warrior, because I just got the worst possible mulligan. In the 6 wins I beat a Hunter, a Mage, a Rogue, a Druid, and 2 Warlocks.
This deck has everything! Early - Mid - Late game. LOVIN' IT!
I started at rank 18, and now i'm rank 15. We'll see how far I get tonight!
Solid all around deck, great for general play. Does not get a 90% win rate, your mileage may vary.
No deck gets a 90% win-rate.
Oh my God LOL! I've played this deck against about 5 hunters in ladder now and every single one of them has conceded before turn 8. OP lmao
I really like this deck! Been experimenting with replacing a single Loot Hoarder to either The Black Knight or Harrison Jones depending on the situation, but I'm not sure whether it works or not. I love the fast early game coupled with a big late-game with Kel'thuzad and Ragnaros. Really fun deck to play, Thoughtsteal, Shadow Madness and Cabal Shadowpriests are just tasty! :-D
Only 1 CoH is just not enough. Other priest decks are stronger vs. this one.
Agreed. I think 2x Circle is essential in almost all Priest decks.
Having great success with this deck, and was running something similar with Blademasters instead of Thoughtsteals and MC instead of Kel for some time with 2x CoH and 1x Cabal before this. I only got 1 Cabal, so I have been subbing it for a 2nd CoH though I am still not sure if this is the best replacement as in most games only one will ever be used in combination with Soulpriest. Any tips on what I should use?
