Had some success to achieve Legend this season with a more unique version of Miracle.
I run kele as well, to balance not putting 2-mana spells in exchange a more heavier minion based miracle version.
Because of this, your mid-game would be harder, without the henchmens/agents as well. But current meta should give you the breathing room to have sufficient plays on turn 3,4,5 to take control of board. (exception of odd palas)
Running Tess requires the 3-mana foxes and hallucinations as a base, along with Lich King/Face collector and shadowstep to keep the value of your hand.
This acts as additional win-condition,apart from the usual Miracle combos to build a big Edwin/Questing.
Pointers:
Balance your hand to not over-play Edwin/questing during your power play turn. But play sufficient to consider your opponent's outs after the play
If you use another DK hero, you end up playing your Rogue cards when u play Tess
Face collector is another win condition if the match drags out. If you shadowstep him, its 1 mana for a value turn on Turn 7 for 4 cards.
Dun rush to shadowsteps kele or face collector if not required, its not the main win condition and you have multiple targets to shadowstep.
Take note of the cards you played before your Tess turn, this Tess turn is tough to judge as you usually have other power plays as well. Tess usually just generates a bigger board for you and have less impact, but you save your other cards to have a better follow-up after.
Most important, its a fun deck to try, so have fun.

Is the Lich King needed? If not, what would you consider has a suitable substitution?
Lich King can be clunky at times, and decks are teching in the black knight, could suggest playing on the kele part and get in another saronite chain gang
I'm slowly climbing with this deck(Broke out of rank 5 and I'm creeping up 4 atm). Been looking for a Viable Tess deck for ages, this fits the bill. Nice job.
Tks, doing well with the big boys at legend rank with this as well, maintaining around 50 % on legend rank play.
This deck was doing well for me from rank 2 - legend, against odd rogues/even locks/malygos druids mainly then
How it goes on ladder? against aggro decks?
prob 45/55 against aggro, like aggro u prob split between odd rogue/odd palas/ and mixture of aggro mages and shamans.
doing well against odd rogues, the wanted! tech is good against them.
odd palas are a nightmare to me, prob like 33% win rate only, u got to get a good power play, and build up a board that they cannot come back from, suggest dun over commit on boardclears on turn 4-5 , i find myself lagging behind after even with a good draw, and they just refresh their board and swamp me.
aggro mages and shamans are still ok, if you can squeeze in a good turn with edwin/questing and clearing their board around turn 4-5 , you just roll on from there and win the game
So far climbing on rank 2 - legend and on legend ranks, odd palas and aggro mage/shamans are not common, so my win rate with this deck is fairly well around 65%. Switched to taunt warrior earlier from rank 5-3 , odd palas are everywhere then and taunt warrior kills them.
Suggest to play around with a few decks if you are looking for a good climb on ladder
