EDIT 2018-07-04:
If you've somehow landed here and are looking for my deck from this week. Check out Fire and Blood.
.. Cheat Big!
Seriously, the Chess archetype although clever is kind of annoying in a way. And if you get bad draws, or bad discoveries, you simply end up losing in some cases. So, why bother with that when you can go around it?
The plan:
Use your Chess pieces as well as spells in whittling fashion to get in range for a final burst. Then smash face to end the game.
Why these cards?
Mind Blast - It's 5 damage to face.
Shadow Visions - Need more Mind Blast? Really hosed and need that board clear? Go get it.
Shadow Word: Horror - Because most of the Chess minions are 1 and 2 attack power, this functions as a mostly board clear. If you're behind, this is worth 4 mana. While Mossy Horror is also an option, this leaves you with 6 mana for your turn. (i.e. enough to Hero Power to discover a piece and play anything that's not a Queen)
Holy Nova - Baby board flip. Damage their Chess pieces, help yours. Also 2 more in the face to whittle them toward your burst time.
Leeroy Jenkins - Need 6 to face to end the game? Did you get lucky like I did, and their board is full with non-attacking minions on one side? Go Leeroy, find your chicken. Or their face.
Holy Fire - Because the only thing better than 5 to the face is 5 to the face, AND healing yours for 5.
Many thanks to JustSomeHearthstoner / RNGStone / "The RNG God" for a feature, and to all of you for a rather unexpected amount of support!
He ran the deck minus Leeroy Jenkins and swapped in a Cabal Shadow Priest. As he says, it pulls off a pretty 'dirty' move. Both strategies would work, to be sure.
Made a poor guy quit after I board-cleared his chess men. LOL
did not win a single game with this cards.
First Try Holy Nova >>Enemy left lol
Thank you
I just lost to this exact deck from 11 heath in one turn. It's pretty lame people will netdeck even brawls, especially decks like this that go against the whole chess design. That's the community for you.
Considering that the brawl's flavour text even explicitly says that you're supposed to be bringing 6 cards to tilt the game in your favour, I don't feel bad. Part of the deck is meant to affect the board. Some of it is to secure an unexpected win. What's so spirit breaking about that?
I replaced 1 shadow word with Velen :) nice OTK
Why would you craft ANYTHING to win a tavern brawl? just use what you have........
What seems to be the issue?
Oh man, thanks for the deck! Worked after a few tries :-)

Cool idea buddy +1. The face damage cards are great in this brawl with the lower health totals, although I did change the Leeroy for Cabal Shadow Priest for extra fun. I showcased the deck in my video if anyone is interested, thanks.
Cool. I thought about Cabal Shadow Priest but figured that Leeroy would be fast for smashing face. Glad it worked out.
Edit: Oh wow. Named and everything. Well thank you, my friend!
Anytime mate! Thanks for adding the video to the guide I really appreciate it :D.
My pleasure. :)
Lost 5.. wasted dust on this deck :(
Sorry to hear it. What was your problem with it? SV and Leeroy are things you'll want for Standard anyway, so I'm not sure that it'd be a waste. Perhaps I can point you in the right direction.
I get overrun very fast.. maybe its just RNG .
Might also be how you're mulliganing. You want to make sure that you aim for low cost cards in your mulligan, unless it's one of the 'cheating' cards that I listed above. Even then, you probably only want to keep Shadow Visions to fetch something before you draw it. You could, at your discretion, keep Shadow Word: Horror.
Aim for pawns to start in terms of drops. If you fall behind on the board, it's hard to make it back. And even with SW: H in the deck, you only get to pull that trick once!
Glad to hear it, friend! It is kind of funny in a brawl like this where it's fairly unexpected!
Completely destroy this deck every time with the warrior deck found here as well: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1132149-less-friendly-game-of-chess
